Guy Edwards' 5 Stages of Big Bigfoot Announcement

Seminole Project Finding Strange Looking Artifacts In Florida Swamp

The Pacific Northwest has been Bigfoot territory since time immemorial. Over the years Bigfoot has been sighted in 49 of the USA's 50 states. Yet the Northwest remains a hotbed for hairy hominids. Bellamy Pailthorp meets us at the crossroads of folklore and science for insight on this enduring mystery. Of course, such stories are nothing without pictures and this set is more than a thousand words: Photos Of The Day: Lupe Mendoza's Possible Bigfoot Encounter. Has a sasquatch family been captured for posterity? Should you dare to join the hunt, learn about Sasquatch – From the Bottom Up Part 1; Big Feet, giving helpful tracking advice, an overview of Bigfoot anatomy, and a frame of reference when making your first big find.

What is this Crypto Crew
The Crypto Crew brings us an intriguing albeit blurry photograph of a mystery creature spotted in Arkansas. As is often the case, the strange blobby animal was not seen at the time of the photo and the Crypto Crew's painstaking zooming and clarifying of the image leaves us with many more questions. Are those eyes? Is this thing upright and bipedal? Hopefully, this odd beast will photobomb another backyard photo and we'll have a better look. In the Terribly Misinformed News Department: Black Cat = New Species? Cryptomundo once again warns against misidentifcation of odd creature sightings. Not every mystery big cat is a mystery or in some cases, even a big cat. The media seems overly eager to label every unexplained cat sighting as something far bigger than it really is. In this case, it seems they've labeled a house cat as a rare breed of leopard in Bangladesh. And finally, Loch Ness Mystery gives us a complete archive of the Rip Hepple Nessletter Archive. The Nessletter ran from 1975-1985 and is chock full of Nessie info. This impressive list is well worth a look.

Cryptozoologists are nothing but lawful, honest citizens, yet sometimes they run afoul of the law by not fully understanding it. Matt Pruitt didn't cross the i's and dot the t's when his Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization led a group on a hunt through a national park in Arkansas. The fine has been settled but has their research paid off? Maybe, if they had been 1,500 miles away: Purported Bigfoot Sound Recorded Near Conway, New Hampshire, which seems to have everyone stumped. No word if they enquired of any American Indians, as William Jevning has words and pictures showing the connection twixt Native Peoples and the Sasquatch. And when you find yourself out in the woods, be like Loren Coleman who's excited that the Boggy Creek Book has Arrived, in which its author, Lyle Blackburn, not only covers the history of the Fouke monster but does a superb deconstruction of the monster's classic film, The Legend of Boggy Creek.

Is the LA Times getting serious about Bigfoot? Not in your life. What they're serious about is television, of course. The blurb says it all: "Real or not, Sasquatch is a larger-than-life figure on TV. It's not so much a search for the creature as a hunt for ratings." At the Bigfoot Evidence blog, a guest post by Josh Brown, an physical anthropology major from California, wonders if there is a Conspiracy To Promote Sasquatch. Could there be an active secret society that seeks to perpetuate the Bigfoot "myth"? Sounds like the making of a Hollywood movie to us. Has cryptozoology lost its soul? Make that "Soule." Loren Coleman writes about the time When Cryptozoology Had Soule, specifically a writer from the '50s and '60s named Gardner Soule who wrote such books as The Maybe Monsters and The Mystery Monsters but who now has disappeared from the popular cryptozoology scene. Can anyone fill in his biography? Finally, Karl Shuker is interviewed in Beyond Bigfoot: the science of cryptozoology, where he talks about more than 100 years of discovery of hidden animals and new species, the subject of his new book: The Encycloapedia of New and Rediscovered Animals.

Excellent L.A. Times Article: "Bigfoot? He's not so elusive"

Damian Bravo examines the possibility of genetic mutations and adaptations among Bigfoot, most notably in eyes which account for the strange "eye shine" often reported. Taking a look at Bigfoot Experts and Science Academics Tom Fonner compares researchers "in the field" with "armchair researchers" and concludes that both are important but he believes the work of true researchers out gathering evidence is sometimes overshadowed by those who have never set foot in the woods. And finally, Texas Bigfoot gives a big thumbs-up to The Beast of Boggy Creeek in their Book Review. The book is all about the infamous 1970s Bigfoot encounter that has become a fixture of film and folklore, as well as about the sightings that continue to this day.

A Dutch Mermaid Beachcombing's Bizarre History Blog
Our professor combing the beach of history has blown the sand off an odd story of a clutch of milkmaids who caught a mermaid. The odd part has their quarry staying out of water and living happily ever after, receiving a Christian burial. It turns out that the Netherlands have more mermaid legends than you can shake a fishing pole at than merry old England. And over at Bigfoot Evidence, we have TeamTazerBigfoot's Incredible Interview With A Bigfoot Witness In Maine. Submitted for your approval is a unique account of a man stumbling upon a sasquatch while hiking through the woods. The level of detail recalled is remarkable and bound to raise a stir among cryptozoologists. And finishing off today's trifecta of cryptids, we have the announcement from the International Cryptozoology Museum of Atlas Obscura Day and 35th Dover Demon Anniversary.
