    DVD Review: Bigfooting In Oklahoma

Jay Michael Hits Another One Out of the park!!!!!!

This DVD, professionally done and narrated by Jay Michael, is the story of Esther Schritter of Southeastern Oklahoma, describing several encounters she had as a child in Paine County, Oklahoma. She describes her first sighting when she was 3 or 4, while she was sitting in her highchair in her kitchen, seeing an ugly face come to the window; next she describes at age 12 she and a girlfriend going down to a frozen lake to slide on the lake and hearing a siren-type scream; at age 17, she was home alone and again saw a large creature which frightened her enough to retreat to the backdoor for the car and drive straight through her yard, with the creature seemingly in hot pursuit until she left the homestead. The focus next switches to some videotaped interviews Esther took with witnesses in Oregon and at the Honobia Bigfoot Festival in 2004 and other Oklahomans who describe strange vocalizations. A gentleman also seems to have found a possible hair sample, a rather large sample which he found in a tree. A sighting in the Arbuckle Mountains is also described by an eyewitness. A piece of footage of a footprint Esther found is also shown. Esther next discusses an encounter in Louisiana while she was a seismologist in which she and a friend appeared to have been parallelled by something in the woods near Arcadia, as well as a sighting of a large, bipedal creature retreating back into the woods. Esther, before she got in contact with other Bigfooters, had no other point of reference other than the classic film The Legend of Boggy Creek. More eyewitness accounts are shown as well, from Oklahoma and from the Pacific Northwest.
There also appears a videotape of something Esther caught on video on Timberghost's property, something large, dark and bipedal. You can e-mail Jay Michael at staff@cryptovideography.com for further information on ordering. There is also a bonus section after the closing credits from the Pacific Northwest with Don Monroe and some casts he has collected over his years of searching. There is also bonus material from the Bellingham, Washington Sasquatch Conference, as well as photos of casts from the PNW. The footage Esther took is also shown in enhanced form. I would say this is Jay's best effort yet. Bravo, Jay Michael!!!!!! 5 stars!!!!!! Get this DVD while you can!!!!!!

    Second sighting report

    Sighting Reports
Witness: Gary C. (not his real name)
    Date of encounter: 11/14/05
    Time: Between 11:45 P.M. and 12:30 A.M.
Location: Ittawamba/Prentiss County Line, Mississippi near Natchez Trace Parkway, 200 yards from John Bell Williams Game Reserve next to TomBigbee Waterway

Activity of Witness: spotlighting deer on a dead-end road
    Weather Conditions: Almost full moon
    Terrain: Wooded
Witness called me earlier this evening (November 15th) and told me that he and two other witnesses saw a 5'10"-6'0" tall creature, black, with a greenish tint to the eyes. Witness does not say unequivocally that it was a Bigfoot, but he is certainly puzzled about what it was. Witness hunts in that area often, and has never seen an animal stand on its hind legs or run. Creature crossed road in front of witnesses, turned and looked at them and took off. Creature was 25-30 yards away.
Witnesses heard after seeing the creature wood-whacking and whacking on tin. The wood-whacking was twice in rhythm, "whap, whap." This took place 35 yards away from them. Witnesses went back this morning to search for tracks and could find none. Witness works at tire plant and is willing to take a polygraph.

Two reports I collected from right here in the Magnolia State The first report is below

(Blogger's Note: I actually received this report from my brother-in-law back in the early 21st Century and submitted it to the GCBRO. The full unedited report is below.)

New Book: Florida's Unexpected Wildlife: Exotic Species, Living Fossils, and Mythical Beasts in the Sunshine State by Michael Newton

    Michael Newton

    Details: 208 pages 5 1/2 x 8 1/2
    Paper: $21.00 ISBN 13: 978-0-8130-3156-9
    Pubdate: 9/30/2007

Please note that while you may order this book at any time, it will not be available for shipment until shortly before the publication date

    Overview

"A sober, engaging, and authoritative introduction to Florida's hidden animals, from rare visitors, to introduced species, to mysterious and cryptic 'maybe' creatures."--Paul H. LeBlond, co-founder of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Society

"Newton takes the general reader, the traveling tourist, and the curious cryptozoologist on a tour of the strange animals and weird cryptids to be found in one of the most popular vacation destinations in existence, Florida. Florida's Unexpected Wildlife is one of those unique guidebooks that need to be purchased by everyone!"--Loren Coleman, author of Cryptozoology A to Z

Throughout the world, sightings of animals unrecognized by modern science are reported on a daily basis. Since the 1950s, the study of these "hidden animals" has been known as cryptozoology and though many of the reports have been exposed as hoaxes, some have resisted explanation.

In Florida's Unexpected Wildlife award-winning author Michael Newton describes exotic species recognized by state wildlife authorities; "extinct" species whose passing is disputed or disproved; various aquatic "monsters" said to occupy Florida's rivers, lakes, and offshore waters; alien big cats; and the search for the elusive, enigmatic Skunk Ape--a local relative of Bigfoot. Newton's tales are riveting, and include a six-foot tall emu encountered by a jogger in a subdivision and a "sea serpent" carcass discovered at the mouth of the St. Johns River in the mid-nineteenth century by passengers aboard a schooner. The stories are illustrated with photographs and the incomparable paintings of artist William Rebsamen, hailed as the "John James Audubon of cryptozoology."

While "monster hunters" can use Florida's Unexpected Wildlife as a field guide, casual readers can simply enjoy the many fascinating tales and the wealth of evidence collected in this book. Grab your binoculars and enjoy the quest!

Michael Newton is a professional writer and author of nearly 200 books, including the Encyclopedia of Cryptozoology.

Disagreement Over Big Cat Spotted in Shelton

Talked to Bob Gimlin last night...

And he told me that indeed he had not taken a polygraph test, and that he does not do interviews anymore out of respect for his wife, who took a lot of ridicule over the years because of her husband's involvement with the film. We also discussed the weather, our families and various other things.

Review: The Sasquatch Triangle 9-13-07/The XZone 9-14-07

This was a great show, with the one and only John Green, who discussed such things as the initial track finds in the Bluff Creek, California area, the initial interest he had in the subject, the Patterson/Gimlin Movie, his thoughts on the Internet and its hand in research and other topics. One caller, Bobbie Short, had asked John about some of the track finds in the Northern California area during the '50's and '60's. John also fielded questions from the SQuatchMEDIA chatroom as well as a few e-mail questions. I also announced that I had spoken to Bob Gimlin and confirmed that he had never taken a polygraph test, that John Freitas had mixed him up with Roger Patterson. It was a great show, full of great information. Don's next program will feature as a guest Scott "Squatch" Herriott next Thursday night at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central at the address to the right. As always, we encourage you to please tune in and support great research.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I made an appearance on the XZone along with Kal Korff this morning, and it was an interesting program. We mainly discussed the Patterson/Gimlin Movie and the issues surrounding it, such as the discrepancies in the story of Bob Heironimus, and I announced that Bob Gimlin had indeed not taken a polygraph. Kal basically discussed the same issues he always has regarding legal issues surrounding the controversy over the film, and also the fact that he has heard a rumor that the alleged suit has been buried somewhere near Yakima and also that Mrs. Gimlin has apparently a good bit to lose if the film is a hoax. Our old friend Bill Green called in and asked Kal about the legal issues surrounding whether or not a judge would hear the case in court regarding Bigfoot or not. I really enjoyed the show, and Kal wants to work with me, so we may do that. Thanks. Kal.

    Review: Let's Talk Bigfoot 9-12-07

This was a wonderful show, with guest Craig Woolheater, co-founder/chairman of the Texas Bigfoot Research Conservancy, who discussed the upcoming Texas Bigfoot Conference. He also discussed he and his wife's sighting in Louisiana in 1994, as well as some of the events at the conference and also some upcoming boot-camps of their own to help researchers. Callers included Craig Mitchell (known as Pywacket on the various forums) and another gentleman whose name escapes me at the moment. Craig also fielded questions from the Searching For Bigfoot forum and the Let's Talk Bigfoot Chatroom. It was a great show, and full of great information. Teresa will be joined next week by a special co-host Sam Rich because Melissa will be in the field, and their guest will be Scott Schubbe. That program starts at 10:00 EST/9:00 Central and can be found at

Editorial: What are the different looks of Sasquatch?

Many people have had basically the same description for Sasquatch for centuries now-tall, bipedal, covered with hair, long arms and short legs. However, sometimes the looks vary ever so slightly. The majority of reports describe tall creatures, but some descriptions describe short creatures, which may be juveniles or undeveloped creatures. Some are described as thin or skinny, while others are described as having muscle definition Triple HHH of the WWE would be envious of, but no fat creatures. Some are described with the cone-shaped head while others are described as round-headed to egg-shaped. Some are male and are uniquely endowed, while others are female with rather developed mammary glands. Various hair colors are described as well, including white to light-grey, light to dark-brown, red to reddish and black, but they do not run every color of the rainbow. Their foot sizes and looks are also quite different, with anywhere from three-four-five toes, with some looking human-like to ape-like, at various sizes. The face is sometimes described differently too, either ape-like or human-like. The one I saw in 1984 had a strangely human-like face, with some aspects of ape as well. However, each facial detail always has a defined brow ridge over the eyes. Some are described with beards and moustaches, while others are clean-"shaven." Some are described with long hair, while others are described with short hair. So there is a diversity of looks in the Sasquatch just as with humans. I can only hope a type specimen will eventually solve the mystery of diverse looks once and for all.

Editorial: Are some researchers afraid to be truly independent and think for themselves?

A lot of the time, many researchers have their own thoughts about certain individuals in the field of Bigfoot research. But sometimes people get swayed very easily by others in the field and form their opinions based on others' opinions rather than their own thoughts and opinions. I have fallen into this trap, unfortunately. Well, that is OVER for me. How much time have I wasted psychoanalyzing people and saying "so-and-so did this, so-and-so said that?", and most of the time these opinions have been based on what others have said about so-and-so. This is time I could've spent getting to know certain individuals in the field instead of being so jealous and back-biting and bitter about certain people. I admit, I have fallen into the trap of letting others determine my opinions on certain individuals in the field, and I need to stop being swayed by what Joe Blow said about John Doe and have my own damn opinions on people. That kind of crap is rumor-mongering and gossip and it has got to stop. We are ALL in this together to try to solve this, so who gives a crap if it is John Doe or Joe Blow that solves it, as long as it is solved? I would encourage others to do the same as I have, and quit being swayed by what is said on this forum or that messageboard or in some chatroom and form your own opinion on someone, good or bad. I am not saying you have to like certain individuals in this field, but for God's sake, stop all the back-biting and rumor-mongering and bitterness, and let us all work TOGETHER as a unit to solve this mystery. Billy Willard made a good point to me in a chatroom last night when he said that we can't get to know someone through a computer screen, and he is absolutely right. If we spent half as much time in the field actually LOOKING for evidence as we do sitting anonymously behind our computer screens tearing others down, we would be in a boat in the middle of Loch Ness by now!!!!!!

Review: The Squatch Detective Radio 9-10-07

This was a pretty good show, with Scott Marlowe discussing some aspects of the Skunk Ape Mystery as well as his research in Florida and his Pangea Institute. Tom Biscardi called in and pretty well dominated a good bit of the show, discussing the upcoming Bigfoot Boot-Camp/Expedition scheduled for next month in Paris, Texas, which will feature Steve Kulls, Marlowe and M.K. Davis giving workshops in different fields of study. Several people called in, including Don Keating, who really made some rather controversial statements about the cost of the upcoming boot-camp/expedition and also some questions about the purpose of the expedition and other aspects of it. It was a rather interesting and spirited show, and rather enjoyable. Steve and Billy do not have a scheduled guest for next week, but it should be a good one. Review: The Sasquatch Experience 9-9-07

This was a pretty great show, with a discussion in the first 30 minutes of different standards of evidence in the field, as well as a bit of discussion on the New York Baby Footage, which prompted Steve Kulls to call in to discuss that (that discussion was prompted by an e-mail I received from Karen Orum, a loyal listener). We also received a call from a gentleman asking about sighting reports in Southern California, which I answered. Sean then played a very cool new promo for SQuatchMedia Productions discussing all of our programming. We then got a call-in from Billy Willard, who took the discussion from The Bigfoot Mystery earlier in the evening on stick structures and other pieces of possible evidence farther on. Steve called back in when we discussed further the NY Baby Footage and gave us his assessments of it as well, especially referring to Bobbie Short's comment in the chat that Sasquatch does not have the brachiating hand to be able to climb trees and grasp objects like branches. It was a great show and great debate, which we like to see. Our next show will either have Ray Crowe or Esther Schritter, we will have to wait and see how things progress. The link is to the right, and airs Sunday at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central. I hope everyone will tune in and support great research.

    Review: The Bigfoot Mystery 9-9-07

This was a great show, with a discussion of strange stick formations found in the woods, with Thunderhawk, his new co-host Bob, a retired Police Chief from Massachusetts, and a fellow named Steven Miller from Illinois, all three of which had found strange stick structures in their respective states. The possibilities as to the origin of these structures was discussed, as was the possible meanings of all of them, whether they are territorial markers or protective measures or possibly even structures for sleeping in. Billy Willard called in and discussed some structures he had found in Virginia, as well as his and Tom Lancaster's ongoing research. It was a terrific show, and the best part is, it was only part 1!!! Part 2 will air next week, at the same time, at the same channel, with all four individuals participating. Make sure you tune in and support great research.
