Cryptozoologists should be interested in gator and croc sightings for several reasons: (1) some Lake Monsters are initially reported to look like alligators; (2) some water cryptids may turn out to be alligators or other pet croc escapees;(3) keeping track of the expanding or pet escapee enhanced alligator range is a good idea; (4) field-aware cryptozoologists like to know if there are any dangerous animals in the path of their pursuits; (5) and out-of-place ‘gators are a Fortean phenomenon. There have been several such reports recently. But who's slaying the "dragons" these days? Not St. George. Elsewhere, officials in the Cayman Islands are saying that local eyewitnesses who are reporting crocodiles are badly mistaken: They are merely seeing sunfish. Really? Check out Crocs Are…Sunfish? And things are certainly looking up (finally!) for the new International Cryptozoology Museum as Group Gives Big Money To CZ Museum.

Reviews: The Bigfoot Field Reporter/Bigfoot;America's King Kong 9-18-09

Both shows were great. On The BFR, Sharon Lee and Craig Woolheater had Dr. Esteban Sarmiento as the guest, who discussed his background in primatology and his observations of primates and his work with them for over 30 years. I called in along with Abe and asked Dr. Sarmiento about the misnomer about apes swimming, which IS a misnomer, and we talked a good bit about primate behavior as well. Abe also asked various questions. Not sure what Sharon has planned for next week, but it begins at 6:00 EST/5:00 Central.

On Bigfoot: America's King Kong, the guest was former police forensics officer Jimmy Chilcutt, who discussed his expertise with fingerprinting, including applying his skills not only to human suspects, but also to primates. He also discussed how he got into using his fingerprinting expertise with Sasquatch tracks by seeing a program with Dr. Jeff Meldrum who was discussing dermal ridges, which launched Chilcutt into interest in Sasquatch dermal ridges. I called in and asked Jimmy about the Onion Mountain cast and that I had seen on a website where someone had said it looked like a butterknife was scraped on the cast or the footprint itself. He said he was not aware of that. I also discussed the work of Matt Crowley and asked Jimmy his opinion of it, as well as discussing the 20 years apart casts which had the same ridge flow texture (those were the Onion Mountain and Walla Walla Casts). Not sure what Jordy and Abe have planned for next week, but it begins at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central. And as always, we encourage you to please tune in and support great research.

Having to rely on a Panamanian newspaper report, Loren Coleman presents puzzling images and supposed scenario for the detection and subsequent death of a creature that has remained unidentified thus far. What is this creature reportedly killed by frightened teens in the Blue Hill region of Panama? Kentaro Mori has more on the Blue Hill Horror in The Panamanian Monster That Almost Were. Meanwhile, Nick Redfern is on camera for a video interview concerning The Chupacabra is Real. Kinda..

Review: The Sasquatch Experience 9-17-09

This was a really terrific show, the first show back after several months, with guests Craig Woolheater and Monica Rawlins, who discussed the upcoming 9th-Annual Texas Bigfoot Conference and the speakers and special guests who will be there, including Bob Gimlin and Smokey Crabtree, who will be special guests at the Conference. Sean and I asked various questions about the Conference and also discussed some of the history of sightings in the Tyler area, where the Conference is being held. We also had some humor in the show referring to my travels getting to the Ohio Conference this past year. Next week will be open-mic, beginning at 9:00 EST/8:00 Ce ntral. And as always, we encourage you to please tune in and support great research.

Dan Brown's new novel, The Lost Symbol, mentions one of our favorite monsters of the deep, as explained by Loren Coleman. But what exactly is the Washington, D.C. connection? Elsewhere, as Adam Davies leads a team of intrepid researchers bent on discovering the best evidence of a bipedal hominoid in the rainforests of Sumatra, the members of the expedition from the UK's Centre for Fortean Zoology update the teams progress and goals in their Latest Press Release.
