Ketchum on Disotell

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on October 7th, 2013
Disotell specializes in evolution using mitochondrial DNA. He is not qualified to comment on the genomics or other disciplines in this study. Like he said on the Joe Rogan show, our project used “some of the latest cutting edge science” that he is not expert on–he admits “I can’t follow 3/4 of that paper.” The raw data for this paper continues to be available as separate files with the manuscript. He is a perfect example of the scientific bias we have faced”

Todd Disotell on Ketchum Sasquatch DNA Study

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on October 3rd, 2013
Todd R. Disotell, a professor at the Department of Anthropology at New York University, told ABCNews.com that Ketchum’s research is nonsense.

“It’s just a joke,” he said. “She is a laughing stock of people that are of a community that are already kind of wacko.”
Ketchum accuses NYU and Disotell of a coverup.

John Kirk on Sasquatch DNA Press Conference

Posted by: John Kirk on October 2nd, 2013
When I saw this footage last night, things leapt out at me without even having to use the analytical parts of my brain.
The first thing I noticed was the very human length of the arms in the bits and pieces of murky footage they adduced as evidence.

These photos of Bigfoot are the latest to make the rounds in the media but instead of two Bigfoots (Bigfooti? Bigfootses?), all we are seeing are tree stumps. There is no movement here besides the photographer changing his angle. In fact, someone has produced proof of the hoax and says that the two Bigfoot were tree stump. If the hoaxer truly believes he saw tree stumps moving, then he's got a lot more problems than being outed as a liar since we're pretty sure that Ents have not invaded Pennsylvania lately...meanwhile, an Oklahoma Bigfoot Symposium [brought] Sasquatch believers together this past weekend, including BFRO's Ron Boles who says finding evidence of Bigfoot gives him an adrenaline rush and explains, "Some people jump out of planes, I like to go into the woods."

Joe Black of BF Field Journal has posted an interesting analysis of Matilda, the video subject of Melba Ketchum's study, and dismisses the notion that it's a guy in a suit by pointing out the obvious facial structure differences. He then compares it to images he himself captured of Bigfoot and the two creatures do appear very similar. Here's a closer look at the face of Matilda the sleeping Bigfoot. Impressive? Well, maybe, but the resemblance to Chewbacca with severe dental problems is too significant to ignore, and this is a close-up video taken with what seems to be the same 1970s era movie camera our parents used to film family vacations on. Why wasn't this filmed on better equipment? Why is Matilda so blurry? If this is their best video evidence, consider us still unconvinced.

Did we inadvertently time-travel back to last fall? Melba Ketchum and gang once again give a press conference and reveal the findings of the Sasquatch Genome Project. They also reveal "for the first time" some photos of supposed Bigfoot...that we've already seen before. Ketchum says the genetic study of over 100 samples shows a unique human hybrid previously unknown, which is the same thing she said last year. There is nothing new here and her study has been debunked time and again. We believe that it is likely her study does actually contain real evidence of Sasquatch, but her samples were proven tainted and the results were published in a bogus journal. At this point, her best bet is to scrap the original study and start from scratch, because despite all the controversy we really do think her team is on the right track. But still, we wonder if the photo featured on this page is a sleeping Bigfoot, a shag carpet, or a dead horse...Scientific American says that Ketchum's DNA study is so "deeply flawed" that it proves Bigfoot's existence is Unlikely [but] Only If You Know What “Unlikely” Means. Then again, Scientific American's definition of unlikely apparently means "having too many reports of Bigfoot sightings" and not enough concrete evidence like bones or scat. It's the skeptics' best and most-used argument but it's a tired one that's been hashed and rehashed. There are problems on both sides of the issue here and the same dead horse is being beaten by two different sticks.

Made it home safe a little while ago from Oklahoma and had a blast. Thanks to Paul Hulsey for the hospitality and the way over there, as well as Elusive Mnbrt for arranging for us to meet Julius E. 'Smokey' Crabtree on Friday. Also, thanks to D.W.Dw Darkwing Lee and Randy Harrington Driveroperator for being accommodating and friendly and absolutely professional. I will DEFINITELY be back next year, Lord willing and the creeks don't rise.
