Dean Cain to Host Spike TV’s 10 Million Dollar Bigfoot Bounty

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on July 27th, 2013
The show, which is already in production, is a fun, but still very serious effort to prove whether or not Bigfoot is real, as the $10 million prize suggests.

Finding Bigfoot Wants Your Skamania and Klickitat County Bigfoot Stories!!!

This Scientific American blogger argues that Bigfoot evidence is "abundant but not compelling" but then goes on to examine cases like Sierra Sounds, a case that seems to indicate Sasquatch has a spoken language which is pretty much the very definition of compelling. Perhaps this writer needs a dictionary? Meanwhile, Spike TV has ordered an entire season's worth of "compelling" tv and hired Exclusive: Dean Cain to Host Spike TV's 10 Million Dollar Bigfoot Bounty. This show could go in two vastly different directions, both of them promising entertainment.

Review: Joe Rogan Questions Everything 7-24-13

This premiere episode of the new series from former Fear Factor Host and current UFC commentator and stand-up comic Joe Rogan examined everyone's favorite cryptid, Sasquatch or Bigfoot. Joe interviews several Bigfoot luminaries, including Dr. Matthew Johnson who recalls his 2000 sighting as well as more recent encounters on his property which his fiancee witnessed. He also interviews Dr. Jeff Meldrum on his podcast, discussing the famous Patterson/Gimlin Film (which Rogan is very skeptical of) as well as having a few laughs. Thom Powell is seen next in his classroom at Robert Gray Middle School in Multnomah (not Clackamas, thanks to a commenter on this story who attended Thom's class, thank you!!!) County, Oregon showing Joe his alleged Sasquatch stool and hair samples as well as footprint casts, including the London Trackway casts. Rogan gets samples of hair and feces of alleged Sasquatches from Thom to send to DNA geneticist Todd Disotell. Joe then goes to R. Scott Nelson to examine the famous Sierra Sounds, which some of it Rogan is skeptical of, but some of it did freak him out a bit. He then goes to Washington State with his buddy Duncan to meet with members of the Washington Sasquatch Research Team. They go out in the woods with thermals and night-vision equipment, but nothing is seen or heard except an interesting teepee formation made of large branches and broken branches. This leaves Rogan to head to NYU to meet Disotell, who finds in the feces and hair samples...well, I will not spoil it. All in all, this was actually a pretty good and fair assessment of the subject, and Rogan was not too overly skeptical. A 7 1/2 out of 10.

Reminder: Joe Rogan Questions Everything Tonight

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on July 24th, 2013
Rogan is open-minded but values facts and truths over ideology. He gave me a five-minute primer on gigantopithecus and Homo floresiensis.
“There are real, legit anthropologists who believe in Sasquatch,” Rogan says.
But some true believers in Sasquatch and UFOs ignore contradictory facts and evidence of hoaxes.
“They only see things that confirm their idea. It’s called ‘confirmation bias.’ It’s a real problem with people and ideas,” Rogan says.
“Some people just get it in their mind there is a bigfoot, and then every time some dude in a monkey suit takes a blurry picture, they’re convinced it’s the best Sasquatch footage ever.”

Book Review: Bigfoot Lite by David Osborne

5.0 out of 5 stars Really great book from an under the radar Squatcher July 23, 2013

Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase

David Osborne (not to be confused with Super Dave) has written a truly excellent chronicle of he and his son Jake and their adventures in Northern California searching for the elusive Hairy Giants of the Northwest, the Sasquatch or Bigfoot. He and his son had an encounter in 2004 they cannot easily explain when they heard vocalizations and found tracks near their camper. They photographed the tracks and showed them to several researchers in the Golden State which got Bob and Kathy Strain and Tom Yamarone very interested. The Strains, Tom and Dave and Jake went to the area and saw eyeshine and heard grunts. Dave and Jake went out a few more times but did not get the luck they had years earlier. Dave took his wife on a Bigfoot Cruise in 2006 from Seattle to Alaska and met Dr. Robert Alley, author of Raincoast Sasquatch and rode with him to areas in his hometown of Ketchikan, Alaska where sightings have occurred. Finally, Dave goes back to the area in 2011 solo, but meets the Strains, Yams and additionally Daniel Falconer and Jerry Hein and they find...Well, I will not spoil it. This is a really great and enjoyable read, accentuated by color photos and an excellent piece of art on the cover by Falconer. 10 out of 10.

It seems that Ghost Theory has the same opinion of Bigfoot sightings lately that we do-that the sheer number of hoaxes and badly produced fakes or disappointing misidentification of Sasquatch has put us off the trail of the big guy for the past couple of months. But, Ghost Theory is "giving out some rope", as they put it, and featuring this highly questionable sighting of so-called "Bigfoot tracks", which is likely a well planned hoax because after viewing the video, we find it doubtful the guy who found the tracks had anything to do with creating them. And we'll just leave it at that...Malcom Smith profiles the elusive but well-traveled bunyip, a half mythological river-dwelling creature that has tromped through miles of the Australian outback terrifying people for centuries, and presents a treasure trove of bunyip encounters. Jumping over to Europe and going back a few more centuries, Esoterix examines the extremely lucrative practice of dragonslaying during the Middle Ages: Dragons Check In, But They Don’t Check Out.

Where is Bigfoot’s Poop?

Posted by: Craig Woolheater on July 19th, 2013
When I was a shaver, I believed there was a creature called Bigfoot, and I could support this belief with evidence. Many cultures have stories of a shaggy-haired man-like reclusive creature. Many reputable people say they think they have seen or heard such a creature. There are blurry photos and videos that show what looks like Bigfoot. Scientists have found footprints in the snow that are too large to be made by any known animal. And so on.

Way down in Trinidad, CO, a mere whisper from New Mexico and Dulce, Tom Miller has lost his seventh cow to... something. Nick Bonham shares Tom's tale, showing how cattle mutilation affects ranchers. Not interviewed in this piece is the erudite Karl Shuker. He explains Why Blood-Drained Carcasses Are Not The Work Of Chupacabras Or Other Supposedly Vampiric Cryptids. Clip-and-save his 9 essential points to determine if supernatural foul play is afoot next time there's a mutilation in your neighborhood. Speaking of cryptozoological cases, Nick Redfern's been thinking aboutLake Monsters. Where Are The Bodies? We thought, "hidden in the same warehouse with the Ark of the Covenant" after reading Monster Files. No less sensational, but far more respectable, Nick outlines the life cycle of Nessies, citing eunuch eels, and remote viewing attempts by The Man to find lake monsters 'round the world. Speaking of sea monsters, in Glasgow Boy and The Gordon Holmes Video, GB deftly re-examines this six year old video, countering skeptics point-by-point whether Nessie was really seen.
