The End of the Werewolf Faith in Strasbourg Beachcombing's Bizarre History Blog
Our favorite student of bizarre history seeks the point where belief in shape-shifting humans left the everyday concepts of the people of Strasburg, a belief that could have been seen in modern times as a melding of the Fortean, folkloric and cryptozoological. A sermon from 1508 AD gives Dr. Beachcombing an instance in time to possibly show a separation of ancient beliefs from more modern reality and, perhaps, push lycanthropy into the realm of cryptozoology. And Dr. Beachcombing goes on to present what he believes to be "the most recent werewolf report from western Europe" in A Werewolf in 1960s Italy. Elsewhere, Dr. Karl Shuker shows an instance where folklore and cryptozoology meet, as well, in For Whom the Bell Trolls! Meanwhile, Nick Redfern announces the release of a new book from Andy Colvin in The Mothman Speaks.
