Review of Gian Quasar's Recasting Bigfoot by David O. Marx

‎5.0 out of 5 stars A New Era indeed, December 14, 2010 By David O. Marx - See all my reviewsThis review is from: Recasting Bigfoot: Uncovering the Truth About Sasquatch Amidst the Hype of Bigfoot (Paperback) Wow, just WOW! I'm glad I got a... review copy. This book sold out immediately. Quasar shows his historian's hand in this succinct, well, what to call it? It is both an exposé and yet it doesn't discount the reality of an undiscovered primate behind the stories of Bigfoot. What the book does do is show concisley, and perhaps unintentionally, what a bizarre religion of folklore has developed in the name of Bigfoot. Introducing verified footptints chronologically, in fact the very footprints that inspired and fueled the whole phenomenon, Quasar completely destroys the popular theory and all the legend surround it, namely, Gigantopithecus. In fact, after reading this book few can justify their belief in the giant Yeti of America that has come to dominate advertizing. Also, Quasar has replaced some of it with a giant rasberry. He has made a solid case for Indian artwork justifying the existence of the 5 foot tall Ameranthropoides loysi, a hitherto disputed species of NATIVE American anthropoid. Many zoologists still dispute whether the picture of such a new world ape is genuine. It was shot in Venezuela in 1920 by a geologist named Francois de Loys, and named after him. But Quasar is able to show with excellent illustrations of Indian tribal masks and totems that IT is the truth behind Dsonoqua, the Indian legend most Bigfooters have latched onto to prove there is evidence for some old world ape in America. Indian artwork seems so clearly now to reflect the unique features on the primate which Francois de Loys shot and photographed in Venezuela. I believe Quasar should have expanded more on the Skoocoom as another NATIVE American anthropoid instead of trying to throw a rope around too many entities. He completely seperates Skoocoom and the loysi as having anything to do with the legend of Sasquatch and makes them the facts behind Bigfoot, which he underscores with good evidence is far different than the Indian legends of Sasquatch MEN. His thesis comes down to humans and an old world primate as the truth behind the Indian histories of 2 Sasquatch tribes, even though most of the evidence in America, including stories, Indian artwork, and footprints, that he presents really justify only the two NATIVE American anthropoids as the truth behind Bigfoot. The entities behind the actual Sasquatch men seem to be genuine rarities and not responsible for the crux of the evidence often used to promote a giant 8 foot tall Sasquatch and Bigfoot. But, hey, his book is titled RECASTING BIGFOOT. And this he does marvelously. There can be no doubt anymore that something does exist that should be sought out and proved. And there can be no doubt that Bigfoot as we know it is fable. I hope this book really does bury the old and herald a whole new direction in this field. It is desperately needed.
