Deciphering Cryptozoology New York Review of Ideas
Peter Koch gets famed cryptozoologist, author and Director of the International Cryptozoology Museum Loren Coleman to talk about the field, going beyond the common conceptions that cryptozoologists are hunting Bigfoot, sea serpents, living dinosaurs and the Loch Ness Monster. Along the way, Coleman pins a definition on cryptozoology and "says, once and for all, that it is science." Meanwhile, with the tongue-in-cheek attitude such subjects are relegated to by reporters and columnists, outdoors writer Steve Gilliland gives the background of a Kansas cryptid that became a brief sensation fifty years ago in The Legend of Sink Hole Sam. Elsewhere, a photo accompanies the report 'Loch Ness Monster's Aussie Cousin Exists'.
