In Bhubaneswar, India, villagers have refused to hand over a rare turtle to authorities, claiming it is an incarnation of God. The holy symbols on its back indicate it is an incarnation of Lord Jagannath, a popular Hindu deity. Turtles are protected in India; those keeping one can be jailed for a year or more and fined.
