Review: Bigfoot Quest 2-12-08
This show was good from what I heard of it (I left to take a break from it after an hour), with guest Pat Rance from Florida, who discussed his research in the Sunshine State and also sightings and things like that. Bill Green called in and asked his signature questions, and also John Johnsen called in and talked about his projects and things of that nature. Pretty good show. DVD Review: The Legend of The Honey Island Swamp Monster
This documentary, produced by author Dana Holyfield, granddaughter of Harlan Ford, who claimed to have seen a mysterious creature in the Honey Island Swamp area of Louisiana, is a good assessment of the activity going on in that area. There are several eyewitness accounts given, as well as track discoveries which take place during filming. Lloyd Pye is also interviewed giving his opinions and assessments of what the creature could be and also his opinion of one of the track casts, and also there is a visit to Ricky Hollifield (no relation) who shows the shoe that he showed to M.K. Davis and Jay Michael when they shot their documentary, but Holyfield points out that the casts she has are larger than the resin cast maker. Near the end of the documentary, there is a hunt for the creature in which we can hear it seemingly screaming, and a group of teens are partying with loud music going when they hear the screaming and decide to beat feet. Within the last few minutes of the documentary, a piece of film is shown of what could be the creature, but it is behind a grove of trees so it is really hard to tell. There is an enhancement shown of the film as well, but it sadly is no clearer. I would give this one oh, about a 4 out of 5 stars. I liked it.
Little mini-editorial I wrote in response to a Cryptomundo post
I personally cannot absolutely say those photos are hoaxed, but I lean in that direction because in my opinion, it does look like a guy in a costume. But again, I agree that further study does need to be done. The deal is, we weren’t there, so we cannot absolutely 100% say this is a hoax without doing a thorough examination of the photos to absolutely determine once and for all that they are a hoax. It seems that in this age of Photoshop and new technologies in photo and video enhancement, everything seems to come under scrutiny and immediately declared hoax, instead of sitting down and objectively examining the evidence (and I mean ACTUALLY examining the evidence, not just looking at a photo and immediately declaring, “HOAX!!!” ) And I want to make it clear-I am NOT saying the photos are of a genuine Sasquatch, because I do not know, I was not there, but then again, I am not going to immediately declare them a hoax just because it’s the fashionable thing to do. I say we should objectively examine all pieces of evidence and judge them on their own merits before declaring them fake OR genuine. If these photos are subjected to close scrutiny under analysis and found to be real, fine; if they are found to be hoaxed, that’s fine too. But one thing I will say is, that the mystery of ANY Cryptozoological animal is not going to be solved with a photo or a video or a film.

This was a great show, an open-mic program, with several callers, including Ganglian (3 times!!!), myself, Melissa Hovey, Eric Altman, Darin Richardson, Bill Green, Don Keating and Janice Carter, and the topic kind of jumped around from all researchers getting along to field techniques to a discussion with Melissa about her experiences and her thoughts on things. DVD Review: Bigfoot's Reflection
This is an excellent documentary, probably the best since Sasquatch Odyssey, which follows several researchers on their quest to find irrefutable proof of the existence of Hairy Bipeds. Researchers and scientists such as John Green, John Kirk, Bill Miller (who tells of his own experience in northern Minnesota in 1980), Mel Skahan (who also tells of an experience he and a research partner had, and also of his own sighting), Dr. John Bindernagel, Richard Noll, Thomas Steenburg, Robert Pyle and Christine Walls are all interviewed, giving their personal takes on Bigfoot and the research they do into it. Steenburg and Miller are shown in the field searching for evidence in a 6-wheel all-terrain vehicle in the Canadian wilderness. Bindernagel is interviewed about tracks and biological implications of the Sasquatch as well. Lee Moller of the British Columbia Skeptical Society also gives his assessments and finds the evidence lacking, in his view. There is also the prerequisite showing of the Patterson/Gimlin Movie, which Miller, Bindernagel, Pyle and Kirk assess and find to be real, whereas Moller seems to not be convinced by it. Pyle is given the bulk of the time at the end to give his final assessments on the subject. All in all, it is a very balanced documentary, and full of great information. I highly recommend it.

Actor Roy Scheider passes away at 75Review: The Bigfoot Mystery 2-10-08
This was a pretty good show, with Doug Bilby (Bullet Maker), who discussed a good bit about activity on his property where he claims to have had about 25-30 sightings or encounters with Bigfoot. I called in and gave my opinion on how because people were not there they cannot say what Doug saw (or anybody else for that matter), and I somewhat bemoaned the extremely skeptical Bigfooters who seem to want to poo-poo everything and every experience that people have and chalk it up to romanticism. Bill Green also called in and asked if Doug had any Wildlife officials investigate his property, and Doug answered that they laughed him off and didn't even bother. It was a great show, and I enjoyed it. We will begin at 11am with a Foot Casting Demonstration. At 12noon we will have lunch, be sure to bring
a covered dish. After lunch, M.K. Davis will speak. Following MK’s talk, Don will take anyone interested on
an evidence finding trip close to the area of the meeting. Don has been researching this area and knows of
locations where creatures have been sighted. After the trip, we will return and finish the casting
demonstration .
This event is FREE with a covered dish.. However, anyone wanting to stay and camp after the meeting will
need to purchase a camping spot from the park. The cost is $8.00 Primitive Camping nightly, per tent..

Editorial: The Onion Mountain Tracks: Real Dermal Ridges or Casting Artifacts?
There has been quite a bit written about the Onion Mountain tracks found in August of 1967 by a group of researchers which included John Green and Rene Dahinden in Northern California, in the Bluff Creek area, also the scene of the Blue Mountain track finds and of course, the Patterson/Gimlin Movie. The casts that were made didn't have a whole lot of significance other than being possible Bigfoot tracks till about the mid-1990's, when Dr. Jeff Meldrum obtained his own copy of the cast (or possibly the original cast) and noticed something interesting-dermal ridges. When he had retired Conroe, Texas Forensics Fingerprint expert from the Conroe Police Department Jimmy Chilcutt visiting his lab at Idaho State University, Chilcutt examined the Onion Mountain casts, but not only those, but also the Elkins Creek Casts found in Georgia in 1987, and he noticed a startling anomaly-the dermal ridge flow pattern was basically the same in both sets of casts, which were cast thousands of miles and 20 years apart!!! He determined based on those casts that there is most likely a real animal making these tracks. In recent years, however, an individual who is interested in paranormal subjects and sideshow gaffes named Matt Crowley (who is also a sideshow worker himself) has been doing experiments on footprint casts based from the Onion Mountain casts, and has determined in his opinion that the dermal ridges could have been caused by casting artifacts and by pouring extra plaster in the cast. Based from this work, Melissa Hovey did some experiments of her own to attempt to make casting artifacts similar to what Crowley was claiming, and she could not replicate them. Now, the experiments by Crowley did cause a good bit of controversy within the Bigfoot Community, but is he right? I do not know. My experience with Bigfoot researchers has been just because someone says something doesn't make it true, so who knows? But this is a rather interesting conundrum and mystery, and will be fodder for discussion for years to come until a body is brought in.

Review: The Six Million Dollar Man: The Secret of Bigfoot Parts 1 and 2
This was, to me, a classic episode which I only saw once as a kid, and which I partially credit as giving me an interest in all things 'Squatch, starring Lee Majors as the world's first Bionic Man, Colonel Steve Austin (no, not the WWE wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin, but his ring name was inspired by this character). Two geologists are setting out seismic sensors when they are set upon and kidnapped by a mysterious creature. Austin, in the area for a geological survey with his boss Oscar Goldman (Richard Anderson), sets out to investigate, and he and his team find a large track which a Native American working with the group identifies as coming from the Sasquatch, or Bigfoot, played by the late Professional Wrestler Andre The Giant. Austin sets off to rescue the two geologists, but encounters the Bigfoot, which is actually more than it seems-it turns out to be the bionic protector of a colony of humanoid aliens, built by Shalon (played by actress Stefanie Powers) based on the descriptions of our earth-bound Hairy Biped. Austin has a confrontation with the Bionic Behemoth, ripping off its arm in the process. He follows the creature into a cave inside a deep mountain, but is knocked unconscious and is experimented on to find out his true origins and how he could be super-strong and super-fast. He strikes up a friendship with Shalon, but learns of a plot by the government to cause a small man-made earthquake to head off a larger quake which would shake the western seaboard into the Pacific Ocean. The aliens want to stop this because it is a danger to their race, but Austin is determined to stop Shalon, who is chosen to attempt to stop the nuclear warhead which is buried 500 feet below ground from detonating. The Sasquatch attempts to stop Austin from escaping the mountain, but fails, and Austin stops the sabotage from taking place, but unfortunately, the man-made quake causes damage inside the mountainous alien compound. Austin and Shalon return to clean up the mess and save the life of the alien leader, and Austin becomes friends with the 'Squatch, but his memory is erased before being released back to the outside world, where he is found by Goldman and his group. Sure, it's cheesy '70's fare, but I like it, and it is partially what got me interested in 'Squatch in the first place. I would give it about 4 out of 5 stars.
Review: Bigfoot Chat with Indy and Robin 2-8-08
This was a great show, with Indy shooting the breeze with Texas Bigfooter Belle (also known as Belle of The Ball from the Bigfoot Forums), who discussed her own personal life as far as her hubby and kids, as well as her interest in Hairy Bipeds which started over 35 years ago in 1972 (the same year Indy was born), and she discussed her Bigfooting in the Lone Star State with a lady named Denise who now lives in Corpus Christi, as well as a bit about some individuals in the BF Community who seem to make unsubstantiated claims without much proof, and she and Indy discussed that. It was a very cool show, very enjoyable. Dunno what Indy has planned for next week, but I may start listening to the archives of his show again, since his show is opposite Beyond The Edge Radio on Friday nights. Review: Beyond The Edge Radio 2-8-08
This was a great show, with no guest, but a guest co-host, Melissa Hovey, who won a footprint cast as a prize, the Paul Freeman Cast, for telling one of the scariest crypto-stories of the night. I won the Onion Mountain cast for telling of my 1984 'Squatch sighting. Bill Green won a footprint cast for telling of his possible sighting 3 years ago, and a British fellow called in and told of his ghost story and he won a book (not sure which one). The basic gist of the show was the scariest crypto/UFO/Ghost story won a prize. The guest was originally supposed to be David Hancock, but he bowed out. This was a great show, with guest Patterson/Gimlin Movie pioneer and amateur astronomer M.K. Davis, and the P/G Movie dominated the conversation for the hour. M.K. discussed his techniques on the research into the film and also how he takes the techniques he uses and finds all kinds of different anomalies on the creature in the film, with sometimes controversial results. A couple of callers asked some great questions (one of them was Bill Green, asking his signature questions). Cougar Sighting Confirmed Journal Sentinel
The Department of Natural Resources has confirmed that DNA tests concluded that a large cat seen leaping from a hayloft on Jan. 18 in Rock County was a cougar. If it is determined to be wild, it would be the first evidence that cougars had returned to Wisconsin since the early 1900s.

Review: Let's Talk Bigfoot 2-6-08
This was a tremendous show, full of great fun and laughs, with Teresa interviewing Bart Cutino, James "Bobo" Fay and "The Yammer" himself, Tom Yamarone, who gave a free concert, a medley of The Skookum Cast and Bigfoot-The Living Legend. The three discussed many sightings and footprint finds in Northern California, and Bobo told of the encounter he had during and after his initial appearance on the Jeff Rense show where he saw a huge creature that towered over a 9-foot tall stump which only came up to the creature's belly-button! Several people called in, including Bob Strain, Scott McClean, a fellow named Brandon and myself, and we asked some great questions. It was a wonderful show, very enjoyable. Review: There's Something Out There
This is a fairly good documentary about Bobby Clarke and his sighting/videotaping of some sort of being near Norway House in Manitoba, Canada in 2005, featuring a Norway House resident, Roger Flett, who discusses some of his encounters and experiences, as well as anthropologist David Finch of the University of Winnipeg, who explains his viewpoint on the possibility of Sasquatch existing. A lady named Michelle Baril is also interviewed on her impressions on Clarke's video and sighting (also, Bobby apparently had another sighting in his teens driving on the road). There is a good bit of focus on the media and its treatment of the story, as well as Matt Moneymaker being interviewed about it (bad mustache, Matt). Several other witnesses are also interviewed on their impressions on Bigfoot, and also about the A Current Affair fiasco and how it affected the town of Norway House. There was also a recreation of the alleged sighting done by the filmmaker. All in all, not too bad, but could be better.
Review: The Bigfoot Show Episode 2
This was a great podcast, with guest Craig Woolheater, which began with a look at the Patterson/Gimlin Movie and some mysteries surrounding it, particularly on the Bigfoot Forums. It segued into Scott Herriott discussing his appearance on CNN on Anderson Cooper 360, and a discussion of the media treatment of the subject of hairy hominoids with Craig. Scott shared that his segment had been pre-taped, and also discussed a bit about Jane Goodall and her 2002 admission of being open-minded on the question of Bigfoot from her National Public Radio appearance. There was also discussion of the Bigfoot Forums and how it is not a good place to report a sighting. There was also discussion of the recent Monsterquest episode about so-called "Werewolf" sightings in Wisconsin which led into a discussion of Bigfoot in the Dairy State. Scott was his usual hilarious self, making jokes about possibly having Doug Hajicek giving cameras to Dogmen. This was a great podcast, and I look forward to next month's.
