Review: Destination Truth 9-10-08

This was a rather interesting look and search for the Orang Pendek on the island nation of Sumatra, with Josh interviewing a scientist stationed there for National Geographic. He also interviews locals, as well as Debbie Martyr who has been searching for the small bipedal creature for a long time, ever since seeing one. Many of the people he and his team talk to are believers of the creature, as the team heads to Pedang, Indonesia. Josh is told that the Orang Pendek apparently eats a fruit called durian, which is a spiny fruit not unlike pineapple. The team manages to arrive at their campsite by dark, where they set up surveillance and camera equipment. Some fresh scat is found on a rock beside a raging river. A durian is laid out as bait for an Orang Pendek, and Josh claims he sees movement in the forest. Josh and some members of his crew are in the jungle in the rain, and claim to see a pair of eyes of something. They pursue it, but do not find anything. A forecasted storm rolls in and the guys wait it out. After the rain lets up, the team makes a sweep of the jungle. More eyes are seen, as is a group of animals in thermal imaging. More is found, but not much in the way of proof. Still, I would give this one about 3 1/2 stars.
