The odd deaths of eleven cows in a pasture where other cattle remained unharmed has Union County, TN, officials puzzled. They say no criminal activity is apparent, nor is there any sign of the cause of death. The cattle were reportedly not mutilated in any way. Were the cattle poisoned or struck by lightning? Veterinary tests are pending.

Blackstone, VA, residents are reluctant to venture out after dark due to sightings of what they think are cougars. Officials from the state wildlife department, perhaps true to form, say the residents are mistaken. Has the Eastern cougar been making a comeback, or will an upcoming report declare the animal extinct despite Blackstone residents' assertions? Meanwhile, another very rare animal has cropped up across the Atlantic, as seen, with video, in Black Fox Spotted in Great Britain for First Time, and yet another rare species has been detected across the Pacific as the Rarest Otter Species Appears in Vietnam.
