Taking a point from Matt Chait's Beyond Evolution blog, Michael Prescott and some very astute commenters look at one of the infinitesimal processes taking place at all hours of the day and night within the human body and wonder what signals the participants in the process and guides their intricate movements to complete a life-sustaining cycle. Are these functions dictated and choreographed by a "higher power"?

Thirty-five years ago the residents of Durham, ME, were all agog over reports of a gorilla-like presence in the forest. Was it a chimpanzee, a person wearing a costume, Bigfoot or a genuine gorilla? Maine's main cryptozoologist, author and lecturer Loren Coleman of the International Cryptozoology Museum, will lead an informal traipse through the Durham area this month in celebration of the event. Meanwhile, Coleman has another adventure underway, one where the monster is far more frightening than anything he might face in the Maine woods...or anywhere else, for that matter...as detailed in When Weird Meets the IRS.
