Here's more background on the Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) expedition underway in the tiny, strife-torn Russian state of Karbadino-Balkaria, in a search for signs of the "almasty," the Russian equivalent of the Yeti or Bigfoot. Ukrainian biologist Grigoriy, a veteran of four almasty sightings, is serving as liaison for the CFZ team. And there's an official update at the official expedition website, Russia 2008: Search for the Wildman, as CFZ Director Jon Downes reports on DAY FOUR: Skull Fragments, a Mysterious Cadaver, and Adam's Trouser Related Mishaps. In a related video, an expedition member explains the focus of the trip in Richard on Human Evolution. There are other creatures out there being investigated, too, as you'll find in the Phantoms and Monsters report Russian Soldiers Discover Strange Creature on Sakhalin and The Daily Galaxy report thatImmortal Invaders Infect World's Oceans.
