DNA researchers are pointing to evidence they say shows Earth's human population faced extinction seventy millenia ago and may have been reduced to as few as 2,000 people planet wide. A team of Dutch researchers have discovered that below-ground and above-ground insects communicate their occupancy of plants on which they feast through chemical means. Leaf eaters and root feeders apparently communicate to ensure only one is infesting a plant at any given time.
