Editorial: The Media Strikes Again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two recent Fox News segments, one from last week and one from this morning, are now available at

  • , and they both show how the media truly feels about the subject of Sasquatch. Not to mention their penchant for getting it wrong when it comes to this subject. In the first clip, Matt Moneymaker is brought on, ostensibly to discuss the upcoming BFRO expedition, but it was nothing more than a chance for the oh-so-intellectual anchors of Fox and Friends to mock and make light of the subject. The second clip, from this morning, features Fox reporter Steven Griff, who was initially invited to go on the expedition with the BFRO, but then was uninvited (and from the way Moneymaker was treated, I don't blame him). He did a "man-on-the-street" segment, interviewing different people on the streets of Washington, D.C. about whether they thought Sasquatch existed or not. It was pretty evenly divided, and again there was more mockery of Bigfoot, but that was not the most disturbing part; a photo of Frame 352 from the Patterson/Gimlin Movie was shown on screen and was announced as having been conclusively proven a hoax by the Fox anchors. Now, it is obvious that the Ray Wallace mix-ups have carried over into the media nearly 5 years after that whole controversy started, but surely the media would've done a little more research into it than they did. Unfortunately, we should not be surprised by this turn of events regarding the media (which Steve Kulls describes as the "blamestream media"), although some local media outlets are usually more willing to be more open-minded or neutral than national news. Still, it is disturbing to see the national media be so condescending and arrogant as to proclaim all Bigfooters as kooks and candidates for the looney bin, but it is not surprising. We will never get a fair shake from the national media as long as there is no proof of the existence of these creatures, so we should concentrate on doing our best to get that proof, undeniable proof, that will kind of rub the media's nose in it.
