Don't waste your time reading about West Virginia's Mothman at Wikipedia. Here's why. An alternative title for this blog could have been "More Reasons Why I Hate Wikipedia." Elsewhere: Mothman Deaths: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, Sasquatch Sass, and The British Bigfoot and the Problem of Food.

Bigfoot researchers are using thermal imagers out in the field. The usual problems of timing crops up, obviously, but even when they don't, it seems that no sasquatch has ever been "seen" with a thermal camera. What does this mean? Elsewhere: Bigfoot, aka Sasquatch, Will Draw Hundreds To A Conference Next Weekend.

A terrific read: Extreme Expeditions , Mystery Bones, Two New Phrynopus Frogs Discovered, and Skeptify Me.
Could the catastrophe that left tens of thousands of people dead in the earthquake in China have been avoided? "Two days before the quake thousands of toads suddenly decided to move across a bridge in Taizhou, a town in the Jiangsu province. Chinese web users are wondering why the local authorities didn't relate the event to the imminence of an earthquake, and why scientists didn't take notice of the bizarre disappearance of a lake in Enshi, in the Hubei province, on April 26." With photos.

The services of a psychic and forensic experts have been enlisted by the Lake County coroner's office to take a look at a skull discovered in a ravine 16 years ago.

Road Trip: Day 3

Today, most of us slept in due to arriving home late last night/early this morning. Steve, Janice and Tom showed me some cool stuff, including footprint casts, a bust of a statue of "Patty" made by Igor Bourtsev and some other items. We are just taking it easy today, due to rain and just being exhausted from yesterday. More tomorrow.

Announcement...

Due to political unrest in Russia, Igor Bourtsev will not be able to make it to the Ohio Conference. However, M.K. Davis will be reading a paper for Igor in his absence, so all is not completely lost.

Hot Report!!!!!!

Phil Raza forwarded me a report from a gentleman in a midwestern state of some possible activity, with 20 encounters, several photographs and video footage. I have forwarded it to another organization I am working with, and hope something good comes of this. Very exciting stuff!!!

Road Trip: Day 2

We spent most of the day at area 143 in an undisclosed eastern state with a couple and their son, who were experiencing some activity in their area. They have been having activity on their property, and we investigated it (Janice, Tom, Buffalo Hump and myself). We found some possible trail-markers, a possible shelter and heard possible vocalizations. But the most dramatic occurrence was the possible activity of a juvenile in a high tree causing it to sway back and forth. I attempted to get a photo of it, but it was too high up and heavily camouflaged by surrounding foliage. There were also finger and hand prints seen on the vehicles of the homeowners, and two footprint casts, one which measured about 16 1/2 inches, the other about 14 1/2. It is supposed to rain later today, so that will dampen any research efforts in this area. However, we are still a go for the Ohio Conference in two days. Continue to stay tuned for further updates.

Eyes are being opened in Tennessee...

There are things that I have witnessed and been part of that I cannot disclose at this point, but suffice to say I am absolutely SHOCKED and amazed at some of the things I am learning from Janice and Tom. I have changed my mind about quite a few things, including any attitudes towards Janice, and also towards my approach to the research. Janice and Tom have been absolutely wonderful hosts, and Buffalo Hump, Steve and Violet are also terrific. Plus I am getting to see some beautiful country, gorgeous mountain vistas and beautiful locations. If this area is any indication of the beauty of the South, then I cannot wait to see what is in Ohio. More updates are forthcoming, as promised.

Road Trip: Day 1

Well, after a grueling 8-hour trip up the Natchez Trace Parkway, through east Mississippi, into a corner of Alabama and finally up to Nashville (with enough curves on the road between Alabama and Nashville to keep John Cartwright busy, heh), Buffalo Hump and I made it to Janice Carter's house in Rockwood, Tennessee, and it was a great trip. I was fed, and have pretty much free reign of the house. There is a gorgeous mountain vista right across the road, and it greets you as you drive into town. More tomorrow.
