Beyond The Edge Radio Tonight...

I will be sitting in for Eric Altman this week, and our guest will be Larry Arnold to discuss Spontaneous Human Combustion, beginning at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central at Anomalis Entertainment, Home of The Sasquatch Experience, The Sasquatch Triangle, Beyond The Edge Radio, Bigfoot Quest and Squatch-TV

And as always, we encourage you to please tune in and support great research.

Review: Sasquatch Triangle 5-1-08

This was a great show, with guest Matt Moniz, who researches both Bigfoot and UFOs. He discussed some activity where his mother saw a 'Squatch when he was still in his mother's womb, as well as other activity and somewhat equating the two phenomena. Several folks called in, including myself, Spider, Lori (MystiOhio) and one other person. The first half was devoted to Bigfoot and UFOs, the second half to Ghosts and the Paranormal, with several cases of spirits spoken of. Dunno what is on the agenda for next Thursday, but it starts at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central at "The Sasquatch Triangle" You can also download the show via iTunes, and as always, we encourage you to please tune in and support great research.
Elsewhere, we have Craig Woolheather's encounter with Bigfoot in Louisiana in Believe Bigfoot Exists.

The latest report of a crocodile in a UK lake comes from Swansea Lake. But Nick Redfern comments in A Welsh Crocodile that it's likely an "exotic pet that some idiot bought, before realizing how much time and care is needed to look after such an animal," so they dumped it in the lake. A new blog called Dial M For Morfadile is now tracking the subject.

A post triggered by a comment by a scientist that our fascination with the subject of a human-ape hybrid “would be enough of a motive for scientists to try crossing the two species.” Dr Calum MacKellar, a director of research at the Scottish Council on Human Bioethics, is warning that “humanzees” created from inseminating female chimpanzees with human sperm, could leap from the realm of fiction and speculation into reality unless government provisions are made to prevent such experimentation. Could such hybridization shed some light on the mysteries of cryptozoology?

DVD Review: Is It Real: Russian Almasty

This special, broadcast on the National Geographic Channel, highlights the Russian cousin of our own Bigfoot, the Russian Almas or Almasty or even Wildman. It follows British adventurer Adam Davies (featured on the Monsterquest episode on the Orang Pendek) as he searches for this elusive throwback, which may be related to the Neandertal. He goes to Mongolia to attempt to find the Almas, bumping into a local group of herdsmen and asks them if they have ever seen the Almas. A journalist named Nina is also interviewed about her encounter with an Almasty in 1980 in the Pamir Mountains when she went into the forest alone, and she saw the Almasty which to her resembled a Neandertal. She used a squeaky toy to attempt to attract it, a rubber duck. In Moscow, hominologist Igor Bourtsev is profiled, and shows his skull of Khwit, the son of Zana. He is seen at the Institute of Hominology with footprint casts and hair samples. The legend of the Wildman in Asia is also examined, as is the Yeti, which turned out to be a bit of a skeptical look at the legend. Drs. Todd Disotell (Monsterquest) and Shara Bailey of New York University are seen in the lab and described as specialists in the study of bones and DNA of Neandertals, where their lab has access to the DNA of the Neandertal. Davies continues his search for answers, while Bourtsev submits Khwit's skull to Disotell, and the skull is tested. The results are-well, you would have to see for yourself. All in all, this is a sight better than the Bigfoot episode and a bit less skeptical, and is recommended if only for a more complete look at a more obscure hominid. I would give this about 4 out of 5 stars.

DVD Review: 40th-Anniversary Patterson/Gimlin Film Celebration

This DVD, clocking in at just over 3 hours, is a real treat for those who were unable to attend the 40th-Anniversary Patterson/Gimlin Film Celebration held October 20, 2007 in Willow Creek, California. It consists of 3 parts, the first being a presentation by Daniel Perez (after organizer Tom Yamarone performed one of his new Bigfoot songs Jerry Crew (He Knew What To Do) which uses quite a few slides as visual aides regarding the film, as well as Perez holding up a copy of the camera Patterson used (the original camera had a pistol grip on it, but the camera Perez had did not). He also passed around a few artifacts, such as sand from the Bluff Creek filmsite, a roll of 16-millimeter film to demonstrate just what kind of film Patterson used, the camera itself and I believe a frame from the film itself. Next was Tom's performance of Roger and Bob (Rode Out That Day) followed by a presentation by longtime Willow Creek resident and Bigfoot enthusiast Al Hodgson, who described not only the events as he remembered them of October 20, 1967, but also of reports from the area that he knew about from over the years. Following that is another song from Tom Yamarone (which I do not know the name of, but it too is another new song). Then, David Murphy, the author of the Biography on Patterson, gave an excellent presentation on the life of Roger Patterson and even gave some interesting tidbits on Bob Heironimus. Then, Cliff Barackman gave a presentation on tracks, more particularly tracks that match (or seemingly match) the prints left by "Patty" on the sandbar at Bluff Creek. Finally, it all wraps up with a presentation by Scott McClean on historical news clippings surrounding the film and also news clippings that predated the film, as well as Scott's recounting of his own sighting in 1984 of what he described as a "Jawa" which was all he could equate it to at the time. A very well-done presentation all the way around, and a great glimpse into the once-in-a-lifetime celebration of the most famous piece of wildlife footage ever shot. I give it about 4 1/2 out of five stars.

Review: Squatch Detective Radio/XZone 4-28-08

This was a great show, with guest Shane McMahon (known as sasquatchfound in the chats), who discussed an encounter he had in Wisconsin, a sighting as well as a sound encounter. He discussed his research as well, and several folks called in, including myself, Bill Green, Mike Killen and another individual. I got to ask Shane about the Bray Road Beast and how it might correlate to Bigfoot sightings, and there were several questions fielded from the callers and chatters. Next week, Steve, Billy and Becky welcome the Shenandoah Sasquatch Research group beginning at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central at Squatch Detective Radio, Monday Nights at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central

Rob asked me various questions, as did several in a chat that Rob has set up with Ustream. I answered the questions as well as I could. I enjoyed it.

Review: Sasquatch Experience 4-27-08

This was a great show, which was originally open-mic, but then we had Bill Green call in and he discussed a bit about Bigfoot. Then, Janice Carter called in and we had her as a guest for the rest of the time, and she discussed her habituation situation on her property, and also fielded questions from Melissa and myself and the chatroom. An individual called in who did not identify himself, but he had a rather interesting tale to tell about seeing a possible dead hominid which was at a mall he worked security for in the '80's where he saw a creature frozen which I initially thought was the Minnesota Iceman but turned out to be something different from Russia, and photos of it have been seen on the Internet. Janice was a really great guest despite all the controversy that has surrounded her. Update

I talked to M.K. Davis earlier, and it looks like I will not be able to go to Ohio for the 20th-Annual Ohio Bigfoot Conference. I do not know of anyone from down here who is going there, and with all the problems the airlines have been having recently and low funds for a plane ticket, I will have to skip out on the Ohio Conference, unfortunately. The best I can do is shoot for the Pennsylvania Conference in September. I would more than likely have the funds for that and for a plane ticket by then. But for now, I apologize to all of you who thought I would be heading to Ohio.
