Review: Squatch Detective Radio 3-10-08

This was a great show, with Bigfoot witness Tim Day of Illinois, who had a sighting in Wisconsin many years ago and gave a good description and interesting story. I called in and asked if he was familiar with the Beast Of Bray Road, which he was, and also if he had found any footprints, hair or fecal matter. He is only a witness, not a researcher, so he has not found any evidence in the field. He also got calls from Dave Houston and Janice Carter, and he wants to contact Janice and talk to her. There was a bit about Bigfoot politics, but not so much. Next week is when there will REALLY be a discussion of BF Politics, with Sean Forker, beginning at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/TheSquatchDetective You can also download past episodes and subscribe via iTunes there. And as always, we encourage you to please tune in and support great research.

Review: The Bigfoot Mystery 3-9-08

This was a great show, with guest TJ Biscardi and several callers, including Steve Kulls, Doug Bilby (Bullet Maker), Eric Altman and myself, and I asked TJ about hair and fecal matter found in the field by the Searching For Bigfoot group. TJ said they had, but that they were inconclusive. Darin, JC and TJ talked a good bit about the research and how we should research BIGFOOT, NOT researchers. It was a terrific show, and I enjoyed it. Darin is working on getting Beast of Bray Road researcher and author Linda Godfrey next week at 7:00 EST/6:00 Central at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/The_Bigfoot_Mystery You can also download past shows and subscribe on iTunes. And as always, we encourage you to please tune in and support great research.

Editorial: What a "Crappy" Topic

Another piece of possible Sasquatch evidence is fecal matter or droppings. Many samples that are found in the woods are usually identified as nothing more than common animals like bears or coyotes or even horses(!). But, occasionally, possible Sasquatch dung is identified as coming from an unknown creature. It is noted especially for its large size, much larger than common animals. Robert W. Morgan has described finding a large sample of possible 'Squatch crap once which filled a large container. He drove quite a distance to take it to Dr. Grover Krantz and says in a laughing manner that he had never driven so far to deliver a bunch of crap. I can't remember what came of the fecal matter or what the analysis on it was, but I do know that in some cases possible 'Squatch crap has been found with bits of animal bones and hair as well as vegetation, even strange parasites (one sample had parasites native only to Asia, which makes one wonder how parasites from Asia found their way to the U.S.). Of course, the analysis done on possible 'Squatch crap has not yielded any clues as to its origin or what made it, all it tells us is what the creature that did it ate. It would be great to be able to extract DNA from these fecal samples, but it has not been done so far, and I am not so sure if it will ever happen. Of course, again, the only thing that will satisfy scientists is a body or a piece of a body. Fecal matter won't do it, but it will perhaps help the process along. Should be an interesting conundrum for sure.

Editorial: A "Hairy" Situation

Strange pieces of evidence of possible Sasquatches are found in the forests and near homesteads all the time, but one of the most intriguing is hair samples which come back as unidentified primate when examined. DNA can be extracted from hair, but it all depends on what part of the hair is collected, and also if there is a corruption factor on the hair, such as contamination. Many such hair samples have been found in the forests and near homesteads, whether on active expeditions searching for the Sasquatch or found by chance, and a good majority of the time comes up as common known animals such as elk, bear, coyote or even common domesticated pets. Sometimes, it also comes up as synthetic fibers or even human hair. However, on occasion, a hair sample is found that defies analysis or comes up unknown primate, which as we all know North America has no primates currently living here (except possibly the Sasquatch). Sometimes, the hairs are found in conjunction with sightings or even footprint discoveries, which lends a bit more credibility to the sighting in question. Of course, it is highly recommended that the hairs are handled with the greatest of care and not touched by human hands because of the risk of contamination. The best way to handle a hair sample is to wear rubber gloves and also use tweezers. If no tweezers, take a brown paper bag (not plastic) and surround the hair with that and collect the hair in that manner. The reason for no plastic bags is because plastic does not breathe and can tend to not preserve the evidence as well. The thing is, as good as hair sample DNA could be, it still does not take the place of a body or substantial remains. We do need the physical evidence, unfortunately. But, the hair samples are interesting and potentially valuable.

This was a great show, with Georgia paranormalist Joey Ward, who discussed his experiences with ghosts and the paranormal, as well as his investigations into that activity. He also discussed a bit about Bigfoot and how it might tie into the paranormal and might be more to it than is thought. Scott Hackenslash provided movie news and reviews on the new DVD Eastern Promises which Viggo Mortensen and Naomi Watts, as well as a sneak peek at the upcoming Incredible Hulk film starring Edward Norton as Bruce Banner. It was a great show. Review: The Sasquatch Triangle 3-6-08

This was an absolutely EXCELLENT show, with Dr. John Bindernagel, who discussed his research and his dilemma as a Wildlife Biologist in discussing the Sasquatch with his colleagues, his possible sighting and video footage (which he really could not get much into because it was actually part of a project of a group on the East Coast of the U.S.), his experiences with tracks and other topics. He also discussed his upcoming book (which has no title yet, but is expected in the late-Summer or Fall), and also how he feels about his first book North America's Great Ape: The Sasquatch (he feels very good about it). Don also announced towards the end of the show that he and several Ohio researchers finished filming today some scenes for an upcoming episode of Monsterquest, which will debut its second season sometime this Summer on the History Channel. Review: Destination Truth 3-5-08

This was a rather interesting show on the Yeti, which takes place in the Himalayas, with Josh Gates and his team doing an investigation of the area for the hairy hominoid. Josh and the team talk to a group of villagers about possible sightings, and are directed to the village elder, who claimed a recent encounter. Josh and the team investigate the area to search for evidence. They are using night-vision equipment and FLIR (Forward-Looking InfraRed) to search for possible evidence or even an encounter. They find a cave of some sort, with some large droppings, which are of unknown origin but could indicate a large animal of some sort. Josh crawls into the small cave to see if there could be anything in there, but only finds an old coat. The team is heading to Everest for a further search. The team finds out about possible Yeti remains in a temple, but are denied access to it by the monks. They do get to see the purported Yeti scalp in another temple or monastery, and they also find some strange footprints and hairs. They cast the tracks and head back to the U.S. and present the track cast to Dr. Jeff Meldrum, who is cautiously optimistic about the footprint but finds no evidence of fakery or explanations of it being from a known animal. All in all, a very interesting and compelling program. I would give it about 3 1/2 out of 5 stars.
'Panther' a Feral Pest Hawkesbury Gazette

"It's obious there's more than one of these creatures and they seem to be tracking along the creeks. If it's not a panther it's something that looks like a panther." What is this feline-like animal alarming the residents of Hawkesbury? With photos, audio and video.

Stephen Wagner laments that the increasing number of host hunter organizations and increased number of scientists investigating ghosts, as well as new and more sophisticated ghost hunting equipment, have not advanced our understanding of what ghosts are.
