Review: The Bigfoot Show Episode 1

This podcast, a marathon 2 1/2 hour show with Brian Brown and Scott Herriott, is really very entertaining and enjoyable. It is essentially a look at the year in review, covering the top 8 events of Bigfooting in 2007. Events such as the debut of Monsterquest, the Yeti tracks allegedly found by the production company of the Sci-Fi series Destination Truth, the 40th Anniversary of the Patterson/Gimlin Movie, the Jacobs Photos, the Texas Bigfoot Conference, the Scientific Paper from Jeff Meldrum naming the Sasquatch's feet and other aspects of the mystery in 2007 are examined, and there is quite a bit of humor from Herriott. It is a very enjoyable podcast, and very memorable as well. Go to http://www.thebigfootshow to download it either to your hard drive OR to iTunes if you have that. You will love this one.

Review: Monsterquest 1-2-08

The first new Monsterquest episode of 2008 examines a diabolical plan by Joseph Stalin to cross-breed Humans and Apes, and examines also the Almasty, and interviews Igor Bourtsev about Zana. Zana was used for manual labor, and had several offspring with human men and killed these children by washing them in a cold river until a local farmer's wife saved the children, including Khwit. A tooth from Khwit's skull is examined by Curt Nelson (who was also on the Sasquatch Attack episode) for DNA to see how human it might be. Ilya Ivanov was the man who was commissioned to create this army of super-soldiers. Dr. Esteban Sarmiento is also interviewed about his impressions. Apparently, Stalin wanted to use chimpanzees because of their propensity to war with each other. A hairy-faced Spanish acrobat named Danny Gomez is also interviewed who probably suffers more from hypertrichosis than being a hybrid. Kathy Strain and Russ Mittermeier are also interviewed about their impressions of mystery apes. Gigantopithecus is also examined. Hybridizations between different animals are examined as well. All in all, not a bad episode, but not as good as some of the previous ones. Next week examines the case of Rods, creatures from the fourth dimension. That airs next Wednesday at 10:00 EST/9:00 Central on the History Channel.

DVD Review: The New and Improved D-X

This DVD set gives great insight into the reformation of one of the most controversial and fun duos in WWE history, Degeneration-X, Triple HHH and Shawn Michaels. This set highlights their feud with the chairman of WWE, Mr. Vince McMahon, who sent in his hired thugs the Spirit Squad to attempt to destroy the two individuals and failed every time. It all began with the Squad taking out Shawn Michaels, and then three weeks later trying to take out Triple HHH, but Michaels intervened and the reformation of D-X was born. Throughout the Summer of 2006, D-X ran roughshod over Raw and the Pay-Per-Views, destroying the Spirit Squad at every turn, but Mr. McMahon brought in a hired gun in the form of the ECW Champion the 7-foot Big Show, who attempted to destroy both men but was ultimately also unsuccessful. By the end of 2006 Randy Orton and Edge banded together to attempt to destroy D-X and called themselves Team Rated-RKO. They faced D-X at a PPV early in 2007 and won by disqualification, but Triple HHH had injured his quad muscle during the match and was unable to continue (it was his second such injury within the past 6 years). That effectively ended the twosome of D-X, but they have since reformed a few times for special "One-Night Only" occasions. This DVD set really has done a terrific job highlighting these individuals and is highly recommended. 4 3/4 out of 5 stars.

DVD Review: The Best of Raw 15th Anniversary

This 4-Disc DVD set is absolutely some of the best moments on the WWE's flagship show, Monday Night Raw, which has gone through a few name changes since January 1993 (Monday Night Raw, Raw Is War/The War Zone and just plain Raw). The first wrestling show to declare itself "Uncooked, Uncensored and Uncut," this DVD set includes some of the top Superstars to come through the WWE over the years. The first episode featured two Superstars who are STILL going strong in WWE 15 years later, The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels. Other Superstars featured include John Cena, Triple HHH, Marty Jannetty, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Bret "Hitman" Hart, The Rock, Degeneration-X, Razor Ramon, Mick Foley (in all his different guises), Chris Jericho, Kane, Kurt Angle, Randy Orton, Batista, Ric Flair, Edge, Lita, Brian Pillman and many more. Many highlights are shown featuring all these Superstars, including the McMahon family (Vince, Linda, Shane and Stephanie). The McMahons are especially featured as part of the Austin era, but their highlights do not overwhelm the production. This set has so many memories, including some more recent highlights from the last few years. I do highly recommend this set for fans of the flagship show of World Wrestling Entertainment for a great overview. 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.

DVD Review: The Triumph and Tragedy of World Class Championship Wrestling

This DVD set truly captures the organization from the Lone Star State in terrific fashion, and really gives an insight into the behind the scenes struggles with the WCCW. Stars such as the Von Erichs (Kerry, Kevin, David, Mike and patriarch Fritz), Iceman King Parsons, The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael Hayes, Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy and Buddy Jack Roberts), "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin and Sunshine (later Precious), "Gentleman" Chris Adams, Gino Hernandez, Gary Hart, King Kong Bundy (with hair!), The Great Kabuki, Kamala, Bruiser Brody, Abdullah the Butcher and even Ric Flair are all profiled. Stars interviewed for this special to discuss their memories are Dusty Rhodes, Dory Funk Jr., Triple HHH, Mick Foley, Kevin Von Erich, Bill Mercer, Shawn Michaels, Gary Hart, Michael Hayes, Jimmy Garvin and Buddy Roberts. Disc 1 has all these individuals being interviewed on their impressions of WCCW, and Disc 2 has some tremendous matches with the individuals I mentioned. This is a terrific look at the history of the WCCW, and I highly recommend it. 5 stars.

Reflections Back On 2007 by Don Keating
As we turn the page on the calendar to yet another new year I am reminded of what we actually accomplished in 2007, and what took place that makes a person wonder aloud "why did I ever start doing this to begin with?"
The year held some really good Bigfoot sighting reports from Ohio as well as a few possibly good track discoveries. Salt Fork State Park proved to be a good venue once again as the 19th Annual Bigfoot Conference drew 360 people from all across North America and had its first cross seas speaker in the name of Tony Healy from Canbera, Australia. The 20th Annual Bigfoot Conference slated for May 17th, 2008 promises to draw as many if not more as 2007. The big draw this year will be Dr. Jeff Meldrum from Idaho and M. K. Davis from Mississippi as well as Eric Altman from neighboring Pennsylvania. A fourth speaker may sign on later in 2008 before the event.
I also realized there are good people out there who want to get into the field and help out, no matter who they are working with. Two of these folks would be David and Kerry as they came to Guernsey county in early December with six inches of snow on the ground and helped out with some research. I'm sure we'll see much more of this dynamic duo in 2008.
I have little hope that 2008 will do anything more than continue to fog the perception of the general public regarding what is truth and what is fiction. With a growing number of "Bigfooters" starting their own internet radio shows and telling good stories (none of which can backup these stories with solid documented evidence) then I'm afraid we're in a spiral downward to nothing good as the result.
I've rambled on long enough, more than I normally do in fact, so I'll leave you with this thought. If you truly get into the field and attempt to discover what's going on, that's all that really counts. Happy New Year to those of you who have bothered to read this far.

Nick Redfern Interview BoA Audio
Season III of the series wraps up 2007 with a 2 hour and 5 minute interview of popular high strangeness author and investigator Nick Redfern. Tim Binnall draws out Redfern's vast knowledge on many of the paranormal subjects Redfern has investigated through the years, spending considerable time on the subjects of his book Memoirs of a Monster Hunter. The popular broadcast downloads take a January hiatus to recharge before resuming next month.
