    Review: Squatch Detective Radio 12-02-07

This was a great show, with Steve calling in from the road and Billy handling things from the studio. I called in, as well as Don Keating and a gentleman from the 518 area code. Mike Killen also called in and stayed on for most of the hour, as did I. The main topics were things such as Steve's expeditions, the recent Monsterquest episodes (which I discussed) as well as what would be a good forensics kit to take in the field. It was a great and wonderful show, full of great info. Steve will be checking in again from the road next Monday at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central at the link to the right. As always, we encourage you to please tune in and support great research.

CD Review: Stealing The Fire From Heaven by Shane Speal

    An absolute triumph!!!!!!

If you love blues like I do, you will absolutely LOVE this independently-produced CD, full of some the best original Blues tracks I have ever heard. Song titles range from The Claw to Black Horse Ride to A Dream OF You to Song of The Scarecrow. There is a cover version (two of them, actually) of an old gospel song, Titled variously In The Garden of Gethsemane Part 1 and Part 2. Shane Speal plays an eclectic variety of instruments, from a 3-string cigar box guitar with spark plug slide to a mailbox dobro to cigar box kalimba to turbo-Diddly cigar-box guitar to electric six-string cigar box guitar. This album is highly recommended and full information can be found at Welcome to cigarboxguitar.com... Official site of Shane Spealnew window I give this album 5 VERY enthusiastic stars!!!!!! EXCELSIOR!!!!!!

    Review: Let's Talk Bigfoot 11-28-07

This show featured AIBR member Pete Aniello, and was a good one. He works for the Environmental Systems Research Institute, GIS (Geographic Information Systems) software company in Southern California. He is a former BFRO member as well. His interest in Bigfoot was piqued by John Napier's book Bigfoot: The Yeti and Sasquatch In Myth and Reality, and he found the BFRO website in 2002. He began plotting out maps and putting them into a GIS database for locations of sightings, as well. He recently spoke at the Texas Bigfoot Conference about geo-spatial patterns as they relate to Sasquatch sightings. He bases this on latitude, longitude and elevation. The ideas Pete has are very scientific and I think very helpful to this field. A job well-done by Melissa. The next program will feature TBRC member Daryl Colyer next Wednesday, December 5th, at 10:00 EST/9:00 Central at the link to the right. This was a wonderful segment, with founder of the Center For Bigfoot Studies Daniel Perez, who mostly discussed the Patterson/Gimlin Movie and was asked several questions about it, as well as questions about the California Bigfoot, the recent Monsterquest episode, his track finds and his perspective on his research. He fielded several questions from our chatroom from folks like Don Keating, Mike Killen and Bill Green. It was a fun and great show, and I enjoyed it. Will "MonsterQuest" be able to explain the mystery of the Turner Beast and other reported canine killers from across the nation?

Review: Beyond The Edge Radio 11-30-07

This was a wonderful show, with guest Craig Hines, whose areas of expertise are Fallen Angels, EVP and missing Biblical history. He fielded questions about EVP's and ghosts, as well as a question I called in about the recent body discovered in a tomb which had Jesus written in Aramaic on the box the remains were found in. Bill Green asked about Sasquatch references in the Bible as well, and others asked about ghosts and other things. Craig's theories about Christianity are controversial but very interesting and thought-provoking. I enjoyed the show. Next Friday will see Bob Chance of Maryland to discuss Bigfoot sightings in that state. The show begins at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central at the link to the right. Eric and Sean will interview Craig Hines. Here is a brief bio on him:

Author PhotoCraig Hines is a multimedia artist with nearly two decades of experience in the fields of computer graphics, video production, and website design. His interest in computers began at an early age, and has only been rivaled by his fascination with ancient civilizations, paranormal phenomena, science, and technology. His focused research on what would later become Gateway of the Gods began in 1999, and continues through today. Hines believes that his training in multimedia, coupled with his knowledge of the paranormal, has given him a unique point of view, whereby he examines how to make the fantastic real and accessible.

Hines hopes that his research breathes fresh perspective into the field, and that his methods garner the mainstream respect that has eluded other authors. He encourages discussion of the facts, not agendas, both within the scientific and historical communities, and in the population at large. “Finding the truth of the world around us,” Hines states, “will depend upon our ability to be honest and open to fantastic possibilities, yet discerning enough to not blindly accept the fantastic as the only plausible explanation.”

In addition to his writing, Hines is also the force behind Dark Imaginings™, a website offering his macabre, and quite often morbidly humorous, "haunted" artwork. Another project in development includes the Janus Seminars™, a web-based digital classroom designed to bring together the best research and minds of the paranormal, scientific, historical, and theological communities to worldwide audiences.

    DVD Review: Elf

This film, released in 2003, is a wonderful holiday picture. Will Ferrell stars as Buddy the Elf, who crawls into Santa Claus' (Ed Asner) bag at an orphanage and winds up at the North Pole where he is adopted by Papa Elf (played by Bob Newhart). It is soon realized that Buddy is not a true elf, but a human raised by elves. After finding out his true parentage, a Walter Hobbs (played by James Caan) he journeys to New York City to meet and reconcile with his biological father. With his innocent nature he has several misadventures, more particularly at Gimbel's, where he is mistaken for an elf worker and put to work at the "North Pole" and meets a worker named Jovie (played by Zooey Deschanel) who he is enchanted by and falls in love with. He then goes to his father's apartment, meeting his half-mother (Mary Steenburgen) and his half-brother. He stays there until he is taken to work by Walter, where he gets drunk for the first time. He then has many adventures along the way, including running away from home until he meets Santa who has crash-landed in Central Park. I will not give away too much more, but it is a satisfying conclusion, including a spoof of a well-known cryptozoological piece of footage. I give Elf 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.

    Review: Monsterquest 11-28-07

This was a pretty even-handed and scientific look at Bigfoot, including the old chestnut of the Patterson/Gimlin Movie which was examined under digital microscopes with interesting results by Rick Noll, Owen Caddy and Dr. Daris Swindler. Chris Murphy, John Kirk and Esteban Sarmiento are also interviewed on their impressions on hairy bipeds in the U.S. The other focuses of the show were the Skookum Cast, and two expeditions in Washington State, one led by Dr. Briggs Hall, the other an all-female expedition with some familiar faces and names in the Bigfoot field, such as Melissa Hovey, Kathy Strain, Monica Rawlins, Tracy Hegristad and Kristine Walls in the Skookum Meadows area, where they were camped out looking for evidence, setting up camera traps and doing experiments such as singing Christmas Carols to attract the attention of 'Squatches. Not very much new information from the P/G Movie or the Skookum Cast, but it was great to see the two expeditions, especially the ladies. I would give this one about a 4 out of 5 stars. The next program will have a focus on Mutant Canines, next Wednesday night at 10:00 EST/9:00 Central on the History Channel. Check your local listings for time and channel.
