Dale Drinnon presents some suppositions raised from information gathered in the search for a cryptid in the Amazon regions of South America that is sometimes referred to as "the South American Bigfoot." Variously known to the peoples of the region as the Mapinguari, the Jucucu and the Mono Rey, the large creature is thought to be a relic ground sloth, part of the megafauna believed to have become extinct thousands of years ago. Elsewhere, Loren Coleman keeps it brief concerning a recent alleged Bigfoot photo in Ben Blasts Bogus Bigfoot.

In a story that could have spawned reports of a "Thunderbird," a pint-sized Pomeranian got a two-mile aerial ride from a great horned owl. Sadie the Pomeranian was snatched up when spooked by fireworks sounds and dropped in front of a car about "30 city blocks" from where she lived with owner Michelle McCarten. The owl dropped Sadie in front of a motorist who shooed the bird away and rescued the little dog from a cruel fate. With pics. Elsewhere, another giant-sized wild hog has run afoul of a hunter's rifle, as seen, with photos, in Political Piggy.
