Long considered the oddest of Nature's animals, and once believed to be a hoax, the platypus has had its DNA sequenced...and the mystery deepened. Scientists are perplexed to discover the strange Australian mammal's DNA indicates it is a mix of mammal, bird and reptile with ten sex chromosomes. Why would Nature conceive such a creature?
