Melba Is Toast: A Biochemist with a Ph.D. from Harvard Analyzes the Ketchum Bigfoot DNA Paper Bigfoot's bLog
Bigfoot's bLog has released a very detailed and lengthy statement from a "friend" who happens to be a "tenured faculty member in biochemistry at a research university, with a Ph.D. from Harvard" that neatly cuts down Ketchum's assertions. The unnamed Harvard PhD concludes the DNA samples are likely contaminated, to put it simply. While we are impressed by the thoroughness of this report, unfortunately it does not carry much weight when feted by an anonymous source. Why not put a name on it? On a more encouraging note, Loren Coleman reminds us of David Attenborough's changed views on the possibility of Sasquatch: When You Were Young…Old Attenborough Yeti Thoughts Become Renewed. After years of encountering Yeti evidence in his travels, Attenborough now believes that, "it is not impossible that it might exist. If you have walked the Himalayas there are these immense rhododendron forests that go on for hundreds of square miles which could hold the Yeti.”
13 Years Ago This Weekend...
The BFRO found an impression in the Gifford-Pinchot National Forest in Skamania County, Washington which has become known as the Skookum Cast named so after the location it was found in, Skookum Meadows. This was found in the early morning hours of September 22nd, 2000, by Rick Noll and Derek Randles, based on a suggestion by Thom Powell to put fruit in the middle of a muddy patch surrounded by dry dirt. It has been the subject of controversy ever since.

These vocalizations have been called into question previously here at Cryptomundo.
Has this YouTube user Mikey Paterson replicated the sounds showing they are a hoax?
Or are they legitimate Sasquatch vocalizations?

In October of 2010, 2 young hunters shot a 7 foot tall animal they could not identify. It stood upright and walked like a man. Matt Bille Reviews Abominable Science
Posted by: Craig Woolheater on September 8th, 2013
Loxton and Prothero have written a very good book, which I reviewed on Amazon as a 4.5 star effort (I’ll explain why I had to downgrade it just a bit) that goes on the “must reading” list for anyone interested in cryptozoology. I’ve been following this field for decades now without seeing anything that fills this niche – that of the scientific, skeptical (in the good sense of the word) consideration of the entire field and its most spectacular maybe-creatures.

In Context, New Nebraska Bigfoot Account Makes Sense CryptoZoo News
In light of the recent Lincoln Bigfoot encounter, Loren Coleman disagrees with Jeff Meldrum's claim that Nebraska is unlikely to have real Bigfoot sightings because there simply isn't enough deeply wooded areas to support the creature. Coleman provides a plethora of reported sightings from the area to easily counter Meldrum's remarks...Cryptozoonews also reveals new Sasquatch sightings in Drayton Valley, Alberta that includes reports of a Sasquatch family group. Like Nebraska, Drayton Valley has had numerous Bigfoot sightings over the last few decades. Meanwhile, a local resident of Walla Walla, Washington says he's got the nearby Mill Creek fish die-off problem all figured out...clearly, Sasquatch is a threat to Mill Creek’s pristine water, because, he says, BFRO said that Mill Creek is a major meeting place for lots of Bigfoot. That makes us picture crowds of Bigfoot having a family reunion, frying up fish, and dirtying up the water with whatever Bigfoot litter consists of. We hope they are all caught and ticketed accordingly.
An Anniversary of Terror Mysterious Universe
Nick Redfern revisits a time of high strangeness in the Welsh town of Rhayader in 1988 when something downright Lovecraftian terrorized the area and killed livestock in such a bizarre way that people suspected it was a giant serpent...Meanwhile, a Lincoln, Nebraska sheriff is marking a different sort of cryptid anniversary--the first time he's ever investigated a report of Bigfoot. A teen's hairy run-in with 7-footer probed as Bigfoot encounterwhen the boy reported seeing a Sasquatch crossing the road in front of his car next to the Platte River. The investigation turned up a hair sample which is now being tested.
Well-known for his passion for Forteana, mainly UFOs and Nessie, Charlie Sheen traveled up to Alaska to hunt for the mythical "Otter Man", which is described as half man, half otter. Alas, Charlie was unsuccessful in his mission but has an explanation, "It obviously knew our group was far too skilled to be snowed in this fashion so it stayed hidden like a sissy." Maybe Otter Man just isn't a fan of the paparazzi either...Nick Redfern is pondering an age-old mystery that originated with smugglers centuries ago in the UK who either made up the stories or actually encountered frightening black dogs. The result was centuries of enduring legends about the Smugglers and strange creatures.

Drama Building For Bigfoot DNA Ghost Theory
Oh boy, looks like Melba Ketchum's got some competition in the DNA race. Bryan Sykes, professor of human genetics at Oxford, says he has nearly completed his own study of 30 samples of Bigfoot DNA and will be submitting his results to peer-reviewed journals relatively soon. Unlike Ketchum, Skyes seems to be a dependable source, quick and through, and we are excited to read his results. It looks like Ketchum's horse is limping along the sidelines of the racecourse with a broken leg at this point.
Bigfoot Times Editor Blasts Abominable Science CryptoZoo News
The editor, Daniel Perez, takes on the skeptical tone of the book head-on and counters the claims of fakery with proof that the authors omitted a lot of facts and dismissed a lot of evidence in their efforts to debunk some of the more prominent cryptozoological cases--Bigfoot being their main target. A target of a different sort is the subject of this 102-year-old account of a trek through the wilds of Borneo that ended with the death of man who was assaulted and thrown from a tree and killed by an angry "man monkey": "The Hunt of the Man-Monkey": cryptozoology from 1901. Was this "man monkey" actually an orangutan? Or was it more a product of a bored British essayist looking to spice up his writing?
Unidentified Animal Seen On Trail Cam Southwest Times
Is this a juvenile Bigfoot caught on camera? Or is it simply a bear filmed at a weird angle? We say bear and it's only that front leg and paw that puzzles us--the angle makes it look more humanoid than bear. The general consensus is the same and that the ape-like creature lurking in Virginia forest is more likely a sick bear.
The Wildest Man Of All Mysterious Universe
Nick Redfern lends some historical perspective to the legend of "wild men" throughout Europe, who seemed to have been mythical creatures with more than a bit of reality mixed in. Likewise, Esoterx, with tongue firmly planted in cheek, explores the mythical origins of A Merovingian Monster and the Founding of France, a combination that included a cryptid aquatic creature putting the moves on the human queen who gave birth to the first Merovingian king. Esoterx concludes that, "starting a dynasty is hard work".
