Did you catch this program on the Discovery channel on Sunday about the nine college students who perished mysteriously on a remote Russian mountainside in 1959? This “documentary” suggested they were killed by a Yeti, and presented as evidence a photo of an "unknown creature" taken by the group the day before they were killed as well as a photo of some large footprints. We were not impressed and neither were most knowledgeable viewers, some of whom compared the program to Discovery’s previous effort in yellow journalism, it’s show on mermaids. Trouble is, most people don’t know enough to know better. We think the title of Daniel Loxton’s review of the show says it all: The Profound Awfulness Of Discovery’s Russian Yeti: The Killer Lives. Shame on you, Discovery Channel.
This Bigfoot On The Hill Video Looks Like it Could Be The Real Thing Bigfoot Evidence
We aren't anywhere near convinced this is Bigfoot we're looking at on this video, in fact he looks a lot like a tree stump in some parts of this video, but at least it's a somewhat clear video and and shot a lot closer than we'd care to get if we thought we'd spotted Bigfoot hanging out in the woods with us. (A reader points out: "At around 1:20 right before he pans up to the broken tree and says, "Another one right there", there is a tall dark figure down the hill moving to the right. It's to the left of this broken tree.") Meanwhile, in Kuala Lumpur (Puchong) a man reports 4 unusually large, humanoid footprints appearing in his yard. At first we thought the photo showed a joke image but no, that's a photo of one of the alleged "Bigfoot" prints...apparently, Bigfoot in that part of the world takes cartoon form...Sometimes cryptid creatures pop up in the most unlikely of places, such as an interview with former 80s pop star Rick Springfield. Yep, NPR chats with Rick Springfield about his Divorce, God And The Loch Ness Monster, which is part of the plot of an upcoming novel he's just written.

10 Reasons Why Bigfoot's a Bust Discovery
This list by Discovery is just a remix/rehash of the most popular skeptics' questions concerning the very existence of Bigfoot and honestly, we're more than tired of hearing it. There are no skeletons, no fossils, no bodies live or dead, etc etc. The biggest problem with this list and others like it is that the skeptics fail to take into consideration the evidence that we dohave. What about Bigfoot vocalizations recorded in several different locations by different people at different times, from the mid-1970s through the present? How about the best of the best examples of Bigfoot footprints, like this collection found in 2013 and considered by BIgfoot researcher, Cliff Barackman to be the "most significant footprint found in the last 40 years"? And how about that much-maligned Sasquatch Genome Projectheaded by Dr. Melba Ketchum? The results were muddled and inconclusive but still intriguing and also opened the door for further DNA studies by other projects. There's also the work of David Paulides to consider even though he never claims outright the mysterious disappearance of thousands of people in our National Parks are related to Sasquatch. After reading his research, it's impossible not to come to that conclusion, however. Bigfoot research is still very much an open book in which the final chapter has not yet been written.
Bigfoot In SE Wisconsin-New Witnesses Linda Godfrey
Linda Godfrey conducts interviews and an investigation of the latest sightings of Bigfoot in Wisconsin, spotted by two eyewitnesses. Her investigation is no-nonsense and there's no yelling or banging on trees, just old-fashioned interviewing. It's refreshing and it doesn't even matter that there's no actual footage of Bigfoot. Meanwhile, Karl Shuker tells us about the small yet potent unfriendly little cryptid insect that's Just itching to meet you-the Muhnochwa or Indian scratch monster from India. Rumored to cause pretty severe wounds and itching on the skin of anyone who gets too close, the tiny creature Schizodactylus monstrosus was moved from the Maybe category to the Definitely Does Exist category when a live one was discovered in 2002. And no, it did not leave up to its painful MO, it simply caused a mid rash...Another cryptid that does real damage is the elusive chupacabras and Who Forted shows us the aftermath of what happens when a Hero dog saves family from chupacabras in North Carolina. The strange creature howled at night, nabbed some sheep and left a few cows with bloodied ears. Chupacabra-like, sure, but it's also the behavior of coyotes, the population of which has exploded in the southern US in recent years. No matter what the dog's owner thinks, the photos tell the true story-it's yet another unfortunate coyote with mange.

Have you heard the newest theory on the Dyatlov Incident yet? You probably will hear a lot about it after this Discover documentary airs on June 1st. What happened to the nine college students who were found dead in very bizarre circumstances after a camping trip gone horribly wrong in the Ural mountains in 1959, is one of the creepiest true unsolved mysteries in the world. There have been many theories tossed about from the plausible (the campers froze to death and suffered from delirium before dying half clothed) to the downright bizarre ( freak winds from the mountaintops swept through the valley and drove them insane.) to the not surprising yet still weird (they were abducted by UFOs and then crudely dumped back on earth, dead). However, this new theory points to the Yeti as a murder suspect, a theory that fits pretty well in absence of any other more rational explanations. Even Jeff Meldrum, the interviewee here, agrees that it's at least plausible that the Yeti is responsible. Meanwhile, Micah Hanks explores the possibility of another explanation for at least some reports of Bigfoot in some areas, and says that “Wild Men” May Be Lurking in North America’s Remote Woodlands. He points to some "Bigfoot" sightings that are described more as an encounter with a feral human rather than an ape-like creature, and even in a handful of reports investigated by David Paulides some witnesses say they spotted or were even chased by wild men, sometimes wearing fur clothing. Is it possible that Bigfoot shares his territory with people who live completely off the grid of human society?

Bindernagel Speaks Out Against CryptoZoo News
Well-established Bigfoot researcher and author John Bindernagel takes issue to referring to Bigfoot as "Squatch" and says it is actually culturally insensitive and disrespectful to the Aboriginal legends it derives from. He says, quite rightly, that we owe a lot of our original knowledge to the centuries-old Sasquatch lore from Aboriginal peoples and it's appropriate to use their original nomenclature. The sudden explosion in the popularity of Bigfoot hunting in our popular culture is mosly responsible for this, Bindernagel says. Loren Coleman goes a step further and suggests we refer to them by their original names, including Sasq'ets and Oh-Mahs. Now, if we could just do something about that pesky, annoying method of Bigfoot hunting involving a lot of yelling and banging on trees that came along with "Squatching"...Meanwhile, Bigfoot Evidence urges us to watch as Bigfoot Torments family on video, which sounds much more ominous than what it actually is. And what it actually is is video footage of what we'll simply call Blobby Mc Blobbington blobbing around in the shadows of some trees in what it seems to think is a menacing way. All we see are blobby shadows here but luckily the family has penned a book full of their experiences being stalked by Blob...er, Bigfoot entitled, 100 Bigfoot Nights.It's not clear if Bigfoot gets a cut in the deal... And for this Memorial Day weekend we want to urge you to visit the 7th of The 10 Weirdest Museums in the World, according to Time Magazine. What's that, you wonder? None other than the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.

New Footage: This Bigfoot Sighting From Washington Looks Legit Bigfoot Evidence
We have to agree with Think Thunker (who did a great breakdown of this video) on this one, it's at the very least promising. His analysis of this Washington state footage shows that this creature is not only huge and bipedal but also resembles the grandmother of all Bigfoot evidence, Patty from the Patterson-Gimlin film. There are also sounds accompanying the footage-a very gorilla-like whooping along with some tree smacking as if in warning. Of course, the video is pretty blurry since the guy filming is running towards the creature, but there are enough clear shots to impress skeptics or just people who are really tired of Blobsquatches. Naturally, we can't advocate running in any direction but away from something like this but we sure are glad this guy has a lot more nerve than we do! (A side-note on the second bit of footage-it's not clear why it's included in the original but we can tell you that it's a porcupine in a tree and this particular video surfaced a few years ago and was quickly debunked.) Meanwhile, over at Loch Ness Mystery, Glasgow Boy has managed to track down a video of what is perhaps the most humorous of all events related to Nessie hunting-the time that the Loch was exorcised. Yep, back in 1976 Ted Holiday had the bright idea to perform an Exorcism of the Loch Ness Monster. Evidently, Nessie was just a misunderstood monster rather than a hellish demon because as far as anyone knows, she's still swimming through the depths of the Loch gleefully unexorcised.
