Renewed Method in Bigfoot Research: Ultra Depth Hypnosis

AIBR Calls Out Meldrum

The Fouke Monster Goes Hollywood: The Legend Of Boggy Creek (1972)(Charles B. Pierce)

Bigfoot North Documentary Trailer

Les Stroud's latest project finally premiered last night in the US on the Science Channel and the Discovery channel and by all accounts (including ours), it was a huge success. After having an intense experience involving hearing unidentified growls during filming a segment of his originalSurivorman show, Alaskan Bigfoot Encounter, Stroud became deeply interested in solving the mystery of Bigfoot and this two-part show is the result. Along with Todd Standing, Les Stroud travels to a very remote area of Canada to investigate the site of Standing's many encounters with Bigfoot. Stroud and Standing find a couple of jaw-dropping examples ofTwisted trees (which incredibly, Stroud thinks may actually be a message to hunters who have traplines in the area) and footprints, and then Stroud has his "whoop!" call answered which startles and spooks both men. Each time they find possible evidence of Bigfoot activity, Stroud carefully thinks it over and gives the audience plausible explanations and then explains why those explanations don't apply. In other words, he attributes it to potential Bigfoot activity as he's eliminated other possibilities right off the bat. However, Stroud never comes right out and directly says it's Bigfoot, and in fact, he expresses some doubt and open skeptism to his companion Todd Standing's accounts, but the actual evidence he finds himself seems unmistakable. Les Stroud has established himself as a trustworthy and honest TV personality and survivalist and is well-respected by many and has never given his fans any reason to doubt his crediblity by being caught doing something like sleeping in hotel rooms when not filming (we're looking at you, Bear Grylls). So, when Stroud says he thinks Bigfoot might really exist, the world takes notice. It's his choice of cohost on this tv special that has some fans and skeptics scratching their heads, as Todd Standing does not have the same level of trustworthiness and has plenty of skeptics doubting his experiences and especially his video evidence, some of which critics like Bigfoot hunter Cliff Barackman finds "Muppet-Like".However, Todd Standing has his fair share of supporters too, including the notable Jeff Meldrum who hosted the Bigfoot North podcast with Standing as they interviewed Les Stroud yesterday. In fact, Jeff Meldrum has collaborated with Todd Standing and Sylvanic on an upcoming Bigfoot North documentary that promises to take Bigfoot research to a "level that the world has never seen before!" We haven't seen the documentary yet but we can safely say that Survivorman: Bigfoot is an absolute must-see. And as Les Stroud himself explains to the skeptics who question his decision to work with Todd Standing and the belief in Bigfoot at all, "Naysayers sit on the couch."

Jason Heal and Jason Dunn say they've got infrared film of a Yowie inspecting some apples the hunters left out to lure the creature into camera view. Apparently, apples are the new pancakes in the world of Bigfoot hunting because they certainly caught...something on their cam. Just what it is isn't clear. At all. By that we mean it's even blurrier than the usual Bigfoot footage we see so often. Do Bigfoot have some sort of blurring ability to mask their appearance or does this particular footage appear blurry to mask some obvious dead giveaways that this is anything but a genuine Yowie? In a much more believable encounter with a possible cryptid, Karl Shuker asks, Did I see undiscovered species of giant praying mantis in South Africa? Shuker and his mother spent some time at the Shamwari Game Preserve in 2008 and in a bit of strange coincidence like those described above, a gigantic praying mantis as large as a hand landed on a safari guide's hand next to Shuker. He didn't have time to get a closer look or a photo and is hoping someone out there has more information...Nick Redfern is leaning toward the theory that Nessie and her other lake monster cousins are truly monstrous-in the form of Freakish Giants, most specifically giant eels.

Skeptics like to claim sasquatch sighters are all wet. In this case, sasquatch was all wet. Paddling down a Wisconsin river a father and son saw something big and hairy emerge from the waters. Sadly, David's friends left their video camera at home. If only they were prepared, like boy scouts, and documented the encounter, the internet could apply MIT's New Software That Can Detect Bigfoot Hoax Videos to settle the argument once and for all. Ritoban Mukherjee shows how Eulerian Video Magnification can reveal if a bigfoot is someone in a suit, among other compelling applications outside of cryptozoology. Science can be fun, but everyone's a sucker for a good story. Our favorite wordsmith, Chris Woodyard, shares some Scandinavian monster hunting tales featuringWildmen In Norway And Selkies On Skis. As to what's a tall tale, and the Fort's honest truth, is left to you for contemplation.

MNBRT Radio Tomorrow...

6pm Pacific - 7pm Mountain - 8pm Central - 9pm Eastern

Join Elusive1 & Henry May as they welcome back to the show David Moomey & returning guest Jim Whitehead . Jim has lived his entire life in the cross timbers of McClain county in an area with a local legend about a monster that roams the creek. He grew up hearing of his families encounters with the creature. He always had a love of science and dad and grandpa taught him about the woods in the old Choctaw ways. He went on to go to college, getting degrees in Biology, and Natural science.. He ran into a bigfoot one day in the bottoms and decided to learn more about the creature, turning his skills as a woodsman/ tracker and as a biologist to researching bigfoot. After independently researching bigfoot for about a year, Jim joined the MABRC and as the membership in the western region of Oklahoma grew, the group decided to promote him as the Western State Director in 2009, And he has held the position ever since. The primary goal of the MABRC Western Oklahoma Team is not necessarily finding proof, but rather studying these creatures and learning about their behaviors and needs. David Grew up in central Okla, He joined the Marines when he completed High School. Moved back after 4 yrs, He didn't know he had these things around him growing up but after he started researching he realized they were there while he was growing up and it all explains why he always was scared when he went into the woods. He take his 2 younger boys out with him a lot of the times to research, they are getting really good. He has with the MABRC for almost 3 yrs now and he does research with Jim when ever he can. Book Review:The Sasquatch and other unknown hominoids (The Research on unknown hominoids) Edited by Vladimir Markotic and Grover Krantz

This book compiles several research papers from different authors, some of which were read at the Anthropology of the Unknown Conference at the University of British Columbia in 1978 while others were published previously in the Northwest Anthropological Research Notes Journal. Papers are published from editors Krantz and Markotic (Krantz has about 3 of his papers published here); Dmitri Bayanov and Igor Bourtsev have about 2 or 3 of their papers published as well, including a really excellent paper on the Patterson/Gimlin Film; Gordon Strasenburgh who also writes a really good paper on the P/G Film; John Green with an excellent paper on the Hominoids of China; Jay Miller; Grant Keddie; Loren Coleman; Carleton Coon; Marie Jeanne-Kaufmann and several others have papers published in this volume. This volume completes the publishing of papers not previously published in another volume, Manlike Monsters on Trial, but those who have both this and that volume have the complete picture of the contents of the first Bigfoot Conference ever held anywhere. I highly recommend purchasing this volume and, if you do not have it, Manlike Monsters on Trial to have a more complete record of these rare papers. Only thing that concerns me about this volume is the spelling errors, which there are a few of in here, but that does not really take away from this true treasure trove of information. I would give this one a solid 9 1/2 out of 10 stars.

A setback for Chuck- from Judy

Bigfoot researcher Matt Knapp thinks that they can because at this point, as he puts it, "We are no closer now to proving these creatures exist than we were 40 years ago." Although we don't completely agree with him (there is some pretty impressive evidence out there and yes, we are including the DNA samples of the various DNA studies that are being conducted-- minus the drama factor, of course), we do think he has a pretty good point. Knapp suggests employing the use of EVM--Eulerian Video Magnification--that was developed by MIT and which can detect the tiniest variations in movement, right down to blood flow under the skin and heartbeats. The program is open-source and could be used to detect fakery in videos; a useful tool that could provide real evidence. It's too bad that Nessie won't oblige and surface long enough for a few seconds of video herself, which would go a long way towards answering a lot of questions.

Meanwhile, is this a genuineBigfoot Sighting in West Linn, Oregon? We think not for one main reason-the dog doesn't react. If a 7 foot tall hairy biped creature suddenly dashed away through the forest, most dogs would pretty much lose their minds. And for that matter, if it is a real Sasquatch he's a master of stealth because there's not a sound to be heard. Our vote? It's a leaf...Chris Holly shares the story of Mike Wooley’s Incredible Encounter with Two Giant Big Foot Creatures in the woods of Louisiana back in 1981. It was more than a sighting, he says as he explains how he was stalked and attacked by the enormous human-like creatures.

Using Herodotus as a reference and introducing us to the fantastic word, "Sasquatchian" Esoterx speculates on the origin of those giant cube-shaped slabs of rock that make up the mega-monoliths found in a remote mountain region of Siberia earlier this year, and asks with tongue firmly planted in cheek if perhaps the Yeti is responsible for the formation? Or are these the remains of a once mighty "ancient uber-society" of humans who once ruled the area thousands of years ago? Meanwhile, Glasgow Boy over at Loch Ness Monster uncovers some pretty shady pre-Photoshop goings-on as he investigates The Vagaries of Loch Ness Monster Journalism shown in a 1930s newspaper article on Nessie sightings.
