Mass Hysteria Outbreaks Hit Bangladesh Garment Workers Christian Science Monitor
Mass hysteria isn't as uncommon as you might think, especially in certain parts of the world where fear and panic have the chance to take over before common sense kicks in. In Bangladesh a "mass pyschogenic illness" has caused mass panic and shutdowns among factories, sending dozens of garmet workers to local hospitals, or so says the doctors hired by the factories themselves after 800 workers complained of contaiminated water making them ill. Mass panic or conspiracy? In another area of Asia, Mayalsian Villagers panic over Bigfoot Prints found near their homes, which sounds like another case of mass hysteria until you find out it was over 200 footprints that indicated a huge bipedal creature had passed by. We'd be a little nervous too!
