Absolutely wonderful tome, really well-written!!!!!!, August 19, 2008 I finished this book in four days, and what a terrific journey the author takes us on. From the deserts of New Mexico, where he gets guidance from a 102-year-old Native American named Nino Cochise, to the Swamps of Florida, where he meets a most unusual evangelist and has encounters with things he cannot explain, to the wilds of Washington State, where he and his team experiment with a method known as "dowsing" to attempt to track the Forest Giants, Robert W. Morgan has had a life's journey most would be rather envious of. He has met with Native American elders, elderly cowboys who were around in the time of the Wild West, disbelieving skeptics, scientists and other luminaries, and over his life's journey, he has experienced unusual phenomenon, which may or may NOT be connected to the Forest Giant People (Bigfoot, Sasquatch, Omah-ah, Dsonoqua and many other variations of names for these unique beings). Morgan writes in a style of absolute comfort and a sense as if he is sharing private secrets around a campfire. The only rating I can give on this book is an 11 out of 10!!!!!! GET THIS BOOK!!!!!! The Ape Cave Horror: The Sasquatch Encounters Two by Clint Romag Edition: Paperback Price: $14.35 Availability: In Stock 10 used & new from $9.97 0 of 1 people found the following review helpful: Worthy sequel to The Unleashing, July 24, 2008 This is the second of Romag's Sasquatch Encounters Series, and it is another thriller worthy of its predecessor The Unleashing. It picks up three years after the events in the previous book with our hero Chad Gamin, who is contacted by a fellow named Andrew to track down and capture a Sasquatch at the Ape Caves near Mount Saint Helens. Andrew believed the slaughter in Canada which Chad barely escaped was merely a fluke event, and operates under that premise, but as the adventure begins, he finds out how horribly wrong he truly is. These Sasquatches are cold-blooded killers in this story and most assuredly commit a good deal of slaughter, even on characters the readers think will survive the story. The events take place deep in the Ape Caves, where Chad and Andrew's daughter Sherrie and Andrew and two workers come across the killer Sasquatches and begin a harrowing horrifying adventure which leaves the reader glued to each page. There are narrow escapes, thrilling chases, truly chilling moments and even a bit of romance in between the thrills. There is also a short preview of the next book which details that a character from Unleashing (Spoiler Alert ahead) survived that slaughter and was abducted by the Sasquatch creatures. I do recommend this second in the series Romag is writing, even though again it is not exactly an accurate representation of the true nature of the Forest Giants. The Unleashing: The Sasquatch Encounters One by Clint Romag Edition: Paperback Price: $9.85 Availability: In Stock 19 used & new from $6.84 Terrific Crypto-Horror Novel, July 22, 2008 This book, clocking in at just over 100 pages, is a true page-turner which keeps the reader glued to each page. It follows the story of Chad Gamin, his friend Shane and his father Willard, along with a group of campers and hunters, in the forests of Canada, who seem to be settling in for a good hunting trip for a week, when everything goes horribly wrong when Shane shoots what he thinks is a bear, but turns out to be a young Bigfoot. When he cuts off a part of the hand of this youngling and he and Chad return to camp, they are followed by a large Sasquatch, possibly the father or mother, and this sets off a chain reaction of terror and slaughter unlike any seen in even the movies. The entire clan of Bigfoot individuals in that area goes completely ballistic against any human and they willfully prey on humans, which leads to a most interesting conclusion and many narrow escapes. This book is written in the vein of The Shadowkiller and Dark Woods, with a touch of Jaws thrown in for good measure. I do recommend this crypto-fiction novel, even if it is not exactly an accurate portrayal of the true nature of the Forest Giants. Sasquatch: The Apes Among Us by John Willison Green Edition: Paperback Price: $34.95 Availability: Not in stock; order now and we'll deliver when available 14 used & new from $34.95 The DEFINITIVE volume on Hairy Bipeds!!!!!!, March 11, 2008 This book, out of print for 25 years, is now back in print (I received an early review copy of it this past week) and is basically unchanged, but it is still great to see the book back in print. The scholarly look at Sasquatch by author Green is sober and well-researched. Green, once a skeptic who even put hoax stories on Sasquatch in his newspaper, became convinced in 1958 when he saw tracks in the Bluff Creek area and began to receive reports. Now, over 4,000 reports later, he is thoroughly convinced. The earlier book review I gave for this 492-page tome still stands. This is a classic for a whole new generation of researchers and is excellent source material for anyone interested in the subject. A worthy edition to any cryptozoological library. The Shadowkiller: A Novel by Matthew Scott Hansen Edition: Hardcover Availability: Out of Print--Limited Availability 51 used & new from $1.66 1 of 3 people found the following review helpful: Exciting and hard to put down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! , February 20, 2007 This is a tremendously exciting page-turner which leaves the reader glued to every page. I could not put this one down. The story follows several mysterious disappearances, and an obsessed millionaire, Ty Greenwood (a native of Mississippi, as revealed in the book!) who after his own encounter, sought answers, and was surprised to hear of these disappearances, but knew what was causing them. The Sasquatch in the story, a massive 10 1/2-foot tall, over 1,000-pound behemoth wreaks absolute death and destruction everywhere he goes, having had his family taken from him in a forest fire. Now, he is angry and getting even with all the "small two-legs," as they are described in the creature's thoughts (the book looks at the world not only through the eyes of the protaganists but also the massive creature). A pair of Snohomish County, Washington Deputy Sheriffs, Mac Schneider and Karl Carillo, look into the strange disappearances along with a nosy TV reporter, Kris Walker, who tries to get close to Schneider and gets more than she bargained for. Schneider is convinced after finding large humanlike footprints that there is something more than just a simple abduction at work here, but his partner is unconvinced. Greenwood is even thrown in as a suspect in the abductions/murders. An old-time movie actor, Ben Campbell, is having visions of the homicidal rages of the creature, dubbed "The Shadowkiller" and feels he must take action by joining forces with Greenwood, whose obsession is taking a toll on his family as well. Three paths cross (Schneider, Greenwood and Campbell), more disappearances/murders occur and the exciting and breath-taking conclusion leaves the reader wanting more. Good job, Matthew Scott Hansen. I truly enjoyed this first-time novelist's effort. The Scientist Looks at the Sasquatch (Anthropological monographs of the University of Idaho ; no. 3-) by Roderick Sprague Edition: Unknown Binding Availability: Out of Print--Limited Availability 5 used & new from $74.50 Very good and scientific tome, January 14, 2007 This 1977 tome is quite scientific and presents papers from Krantz, Wayne Suttles, Dmitri Bayanov and Gordon Strasenburgh. Subjects such as Sasquatch footprints, handprints, Cultural Native American and First Nations legends and the study of hominology in Russia. I do recommend this book if you can find it, because it is a rare and historic look at the subject which is quite enthralling. Valley of the Skookum: Four Years of Encounters With Bigfoot by Sali Sheppard-wolford Edition: Paperback Price: $12.24 Availability: In Stock 18 used & new from $9.99 3 of 4 people found the following review helpful: Excellent book!!!, December 28, 2006 Fascinating and hard to put down. Two terms I would use to describe this excellent book, which is written in first-person narrative. Wolford, mother of Sasquatch researcher Autumn Williams, writes of four years of strange encounters that she and members of her family and close friends experienced near Orting, Washington in the mid to late-1970's. Not just Sasquatch, but strange lights and nightly dreams of walking with a Native American into the past and present. The Sasquatch are called "Skookum" here, and sometimes they are said to vanish (!) into thin air. Wolford, I do not believe, is saying that Skookum are shape-shifters or connected with UFO's or the strange lights seen by the family or friends, but each phenomena occurred in that area. I do recommend this book highly, and read it with an open mind, even if it seems a bit fantastical. Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science by Jeff Meldrum Edition: Hardcover Price: $18.45 Availability: In Stock 28 used & new from $9.99 14 of 16 people found the following review helpful: If you believe in Science...History is about to change forever, September 23, 2006 It took me only 3 1/2 days to finish this book, the third-most important Sasquatch book to have in your collection (followed closely by "Meet The Sasquatch" and "Sasquatch: The Apes Among Us"). Meldrum covers so many topics that were covered in the TV special that preceded this handsome volume, but the book goes beyond the TV special. Meldrum discusses the Ray Wallace fiasco, the Patterson/Gimlin Film (with an exclusive interview with Bob Gimlin), video footage, footprint morphology and dermatoglyphics, bear/Sasquatch misidentifications, Great Ape behavior and its parallels to Sasquatch behavior, statistical data and information and several other different topics. I would say if you only buy one Sasquatch book this year, make it this one. It's terrific, well-written and scholarly and sober. Would make a great Christmas or birthday gift for the skeptic in your family or circle of friends. Meet the Sasquatch by Christopher L. The pictures in the book are excellent, over 600 of them. Some of the things covered in this book are the old Indian Legends, including a look at the Yokut Indian tribe's "Hairy Man" legend by Kathy Moskowitz; the classic encounters with Sasquatch by such men as Albert Ostman, Fred Beck, William Roe and others; the Patterson/Gimlin film, with Cibachrome prints photos shown; other evidence such as hair, footprints, handprints, the Skookum Cast, sounds and possible nesting areas of the Sasquatch; the Washington state environmental atlas entry, as well as the law in Skamania County, Washington, prohibiting the killing of a Sasquatch; tributes to different researchers, such as John Green, the late Rene Dahinden and Grover Krantz, Bob Titmus, Daniel Perez, Ray Crowe, Richard Noll and several others; and the Russian Almasty and the Yeti. Bigfoot Casebook updated: Sightings And Encounters from 1818 to 2004 by Janet Bord Edition: Paperback Price: $12.24 Availability: In Stock 22 used & new from $10.98 13 of 17 people found the following review helpful: Great update to a true Cryptozoological classic!!!, March 17, 2006 I received a copy of The Bigfoot Casebook Updated: Sightings and Encounters from 1818-2004, which is supposedly to be released March 30. Somehow, I got a copy of it two weeks early. Just flipping through it, I can see several new photos, some never-before-seen, as well as two chapters with updated information from 1981-present day. The list at the end of the book is the same as the one in the original volume, but the sighting reports have been divided into different time periods, interestingly enough, which makes it easier to navigate. # This book, first released in 1982, was well-acclaimed and well-received by the Sasquatch community. My earlier review of the original volume reflects the earlier times this book was written in. My original review still stands, but this book goes further than the original volume. There are new photos, rarely seen in any other book, as well as new information picking up where the original volume left off (1980; the new volume covers reports from 1981-2004). There is also a new foreword, written by Loren Coleman, as well as contributions to the book from Coleman, Chris Murphy and John Green. Wilson Edition: Paperback Price: $14.00 Availability: In Stock 22 used & new from $10.00 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful: An entertaining travelogue centered around this great mystery, November 6, 2005 This is a really excellent book, a great read for a cold fall evening. First-time author Wilson weaves a story of a 72-day jaunt into the backwoods of the California Sierra Mountains and points further north. He and his friend, a firefighter named JT, encounter a strange set of tracks, 21 inches long, that do not appear to be of bears. After JT leaves to fight a raging forest fire, Wilson has several strange encounters on the trail alone, including a strange call in the middle of the night, a dung sample he cannot identify, some strange happenings on the trail and a possible sighting of his own. Wilson's style of writing is comfortable and easy to read, and the book really takes us deep into the territory he is exploring. We can almost picture the trails he takes into the mountains of the High Sierras and the other points he explores. This book is highly recommended even for those who are non-believers. It can be ordered through amazon.com

Review: Allegheny by ShBoom2

This book, set in the Allegheny Mountains of Virginia, follows two men who suddently find themselves in possession of a dead Sasquatch. They quickly realize that they must ensure that the body is delivered for proper scientific research, and that the world must know about it. There is a cross-country trip, with some twists and turns along the way, and...well, I can't reveal too much more, but once this is finished and published, I do recommend it. 5 out of 5 stars.

Special note: Shboom2 allowed me to review the first half of the book in May, long before the GA boys made news with their so-called BF body. The only similarity between the novel and the GA situation is that there are two guys and a dead BF. She plans to publish it through Lulu.com, and I will be the first to announce it, so be sure to check here for more.

Review: Sasquatch Triangle 8-21-08

This was a terrific show, with UFO/Bigfoot Researcher Paul Rozich, who discussed several cases of Bigfoot/UFO reports, two of which alleged that Sasquatch creatures were seen going into or coming out of UFOs. One case that was discussed quite a bit was the Rome, Ohio incident, which Ron Schaffner was one of the investigators on and wrote a report about it. There were other cases discussed from New York State and I believe Pennsylvania. I called in and asked what percent of his reports dealt with Bigfoot and UFOs being connected, and Justin also called in and asked some good questions. After all the events of the last week or so, I am ready to move on to more credible pursuits within the Sasquatch field of inquiry, and there will be no more on this blog about the Georgia hoax. Too much time and effort has been put into it, and I just want to move on and discuss credible research and credible researchers. I would encourage others to do the same. Thank you.

Review: Monsterquest 8-20-08

This was a pretty great episode, featuring a look at Sasquatch in the Whitehall, New York area, with Dr. John Bindernagel, Bill Brann and Steve Kulls, along with the NESRA organization in the woods to conduct an expedition in the hopes of flushing one out in the woods. Retired police officers Dan Gordon and Brian Gosselin are interviewed and their sightings are recreated very well. Other witnesses are also interviewed, as are some skeptics, one of which seems to believe that Sasquatch is a projection from our minds or some gobbledygook like that. Paul Bartholemew is also interviewed about his interest and longtime collection of reports in the Whitehall area (he is co-authoring a new book due next month on reports in New York State and New England). Incidentally, Brann and Bartholemew are co-authors of a book which came out in 1992 called Monsters of The Northwoods which is now considered a classic in the vein of books by John Green and Grover Krantz.

Chupas - Mysterious Flying Menace in Brazil's Countryside American Chronicle

Steve Bass reports on the strange reports that have been emanating from Brazil. According to locals, small rectangular UFOs are attacking them at night, beaming an intense light on those they target. The lights reportedly cause pinprick punctures, and a volume of blood disappears from the body. Apparently friendlier lights have been spotted recently over Calderdale in Canada: 'UFO' is captured on film: Readers see more strange lights in the sky. Bigfoot ‘Corpse’ Had a Rubber Foot BlogTalk Radio

Steve Kulls, host of BlogTalkRadio’s Squatch Detective, flew to Georgia after the press conference to inspect the corpse, which was thawing out from deep freeze. Kulls says the foot did not look real, so he "reached in and confirmed it was a rubber foot.” He then told Tom Biscardi who then told Kulls that Whitton and Dyer had admitted the corpse was a costume. Vancouver, B.C. (AP)-John Green, a weekly newspaper editor, and Rene Dahinden, a lead salvager, said yesterday they have bought the Canadian rights of a 60-second film clip said to show an abominable snow woman, or Sasquatch. They said they bought the film, which Roger Patterson of Yaima, Wash., said he made in Northern California last fall, for $1,500. The pair said they intended to use the film in a one-hour movie they are making in hopes of proving Sasquatches do exist on the West Coast.

Foot skin patterns "prove existence of Sasquatch"

Skin patterns just like fingerprints are the latest evidence that the Sasquatch is real, a U.S. anthropologist claimed at a press conference here Friday. Dr. Grover Krantz, associate professor of anthropology at Washington State University, earlier this year produced plaster casts and photographs of footprints made by a creature believed to be a Sasquatch. The underside of the feet showed skin patterns, known to scientists as dermal ridges, which Krantz said belong to a higher primate but not an ape or a human. "They come from a higher primate that doesn't exist so we have an interesting problem here," he said. "I think these may be the best set of prints of a Sasquatch ever obtained." Krantz was speaking at a press conference organized by the International Society of Cryptozoology (a group of people interested in "hidden animals") at the University of B.C. He said the footprint casts and photographs were made by the staff of the Walla Walla, Wash., office of the U.S. Forest Service and an Oregon search and rescue volunteer. He said some of the prints are believed to have been made by an ape-like creature seen last June 10 by Forest service employee Paul Freeman near the Washington-Oregon border. Other prints were obtained in the same general area on two subsequent occasions a week or so later. The prints averaged 38 centimetres long and represented two individual creatures each weighing 300 to 350 kilograms, according to Krantz. "All of this, including the sighting of the creature, are relatively routine," said Krantz. "We have over 1,000 cases of Sasquatch sightings and footprints." He said the unusual new evidence are the dermal ridges-fine lines about half a millimetre apart in the skin of the feet. "These are the same kind of ridges you have in our fingerprints," he said. "It is beyond the ability of anyone to fake these ridges." Krantz said he called in a police fingerprint expert who concluded that the prints were not human. And he said the toes (mostly equal in size) were not those of an ape. Krantz said further analysis of the footprints is now being done by police and anthropologists. "The police expert told me that whoever made the tracks had walked barefoot for a long time because some of the ridges are worn," said the professor. "Dermal ridges have never before been seen on footprint casts," said Krantz. He speculated that the creature which made these prints had happened to step into mud "that was right on the point of setting" so making particularly clear prints. He said he has plans to return to the area next summer because his society believes the only way of finally proving the existence of the Sasquatch is to "obtain a specimen." Asked whether he planned to kill one, Krantz said his society has no policy "hunting or not hunting."

On a myth and a footprint

Is a hairy, ape-like creature with big feet in the mountains of British Columbia, carefully avoiding scientists and bounty hunters? Three recently released books revolve around this question and the search for the elusive beast that lives in the house of unsolved mysteries along with the Loch Ness Monster, Ogopogo and whoever puts the filling into Cadbury bars. For some reason this seems to be the year of the Sasquatch in the North American publishing world, which leads me to suspect it's been a slow year. Or does someone out there really take Bigfoot seriously enough to publish a 300-page "scientific" study of the issue? Big Footprints: A Scientific Inquiry into the Reality of Sasquatch is an attempt to bring what is so far only a campfire tale into the world of factual science. Although no Sasquatch has ever been captured-dead or alive-and no skeleton has ever been found, Grover Krantz's book painstakingly argues the case for its existence. The book reads like a physics tex, with exhausting detail, diagrams, studies of the posture of Bigfoot and photographs of large footprints. A lighter telling of the Bigfoot legend appears in Sasquatch/Bigfoot: The Search for North America's Incredible Creature,by longtime Sasquatch enthusiast Rene Dahinden and Don Hunter, a columnist with the Vancouver Province. Like Krantz, Dahinden is a believer in Bigfoot, and Hunter seems to lean that way as well. But rather than overwhelming readers with pseudo-scientific "proof" that the creature exists, the authors simply tell the stories of those who claim to have seen it. There is Albert Ostman, who claims that in 1924 he was held captive for a week by four Sasquatches. There is Myles Jack, a member of an Alberta rig crew, who believes he saw a Sasquatch near Dawson Creek in 1987. And there is Roger Patterson, who in 1967 shot a grainy, out-of-focus film of an ape-like animal in Northern California. The book is like a tabloid newspaper. It's entertaining, but only if you temporarily suspend your mental faculties. Thinking too hard about this stuff will take all the fun out of it. Richard Hoyt's Bigfoot, on the other hand, is a mystery novel that uses the Sasquatch as the backdrop for a tale of love and murder. When a real-estate developer offers $100,000 to anyone who can prove that Bigfoot exists, private eye John Denson teams up with a native Indian shaman named Willie Preettybird and a female Russian scientist to claim the prize. It is interesting that of the three books on the topic, Hoyt's work of fiction comes closest to an intelligent examination of the Bigfoot phenomenon. The other two books fail to ask the most important questions" What is it about the Bigfoot mystery that fascinates some people? Why do people believe so strongly in an animal that has never been proven to exist? Is it because of some subconscious desire to hang on to what little mystery remains in the modern, frontierless, scientific world? "The search for the Sasquatch is a lot like looking for the Holy Grail," says Dahinden. "Except it is performed by very unholy people." Perhaps they are not unholy, just confused.

Eureka, Calif. (AP)-Jerry Crew, a hard-eyed catskinner who bulldozes logging roads for a living, came to town this weekend with a plaster cast of a footprint. The footprint looks human, but it is 16 inches long, seven inches wide, and the great weight of the creature that made it sank the print two inches into the dirt. Crew says an ordinary foot will penetrate that dirt only half an inch. "I've seen hundreds of these footprints in the past few weeks," said Crew. He added he made the cast of a print in dirt he had bulldozed Friday in a logging operation in the forests above Weitchpeg, 50 miles north and a bit east of here in the Klamath River country of northwestern California. Crew said he and his fellow workmen never have seen the creature, but often have had a sense of being watched as they worked in the tall timber. Bigfoot, as the Bluff Creek people call the creature, apparently travels only at night. Crew said he seems fascinated by logging operations, particularly the earth moving that Crew does with his bulldozer in hacking out new logging trails. "Every morning we find his footprints in the fresh earth we've moved the day before," Crew said. Crew said Robert Titmus, a taxidermist from Redding, studied the tracks and said they were not made by any known animals. "And they can't be made by a bear, as there are no claw marks." "The foot has fine stubby toes and the stride averages about 50 inches when he's walking and goes up to 10 feet when he's running. Two years ago reports from this area told of logging camp equipment tumbled about, including full 50-gallon drums of gasoline scattered by some unknown agency.

Meeting draws experts, laymen
At first it looked like a black speck against the snow. It moved rapidly down the mountain and as it came closer it looked like a moose. But through the binoculars the hunters realized it was walking upright. They watched spellbound- the adrenaline just pumps through you when something doesn't make sense-as the creature moved effortlessly through the snow without snowshoes. Or clothing, either. "It was running bare-naked through three feet of snow," the astounded outdoorsman told two dozen Bigfoot believers at a conference at Harrison Hot Springs, in the heart of Sasquatch country. "It was big and black. This creature must have been a minimum of eight feet tall. Was it just casually on a Sunday afternoon stroll? I don't think so. I'll have a mystery in my mind for the rest of my life." The men who spotted the humongous hairy humanoid near Christina Lake, 60 kilometres southwest of Castlegar, last October won't be identified for fear of ridicule-like a lot of other Sasquatch spotters. But believers say you can't discount the thousands of sightings, footprints and even a video. Sasquatch sympathizer John Green, who has been looking for Bigfoot for 40 years from his Harrison home, said: "Reports of this creature come from all over the world and can be traced as far as there are records. Either you've got an animal with feet like this or you have a human conspiracy to manufacture evidence, and it's worldwide and it goes back as far as history. Either explanation is ridiculous but one must be true. It must be an animal, because that is the simplest explanation." Green said Bigfoot can reach 4.5 metres in height and weigh 450 kilograms (1,000 pounds). The hair covering its body is either black, brown or auburn. Its strides are 1.8 to 2.4 metres long. Its footprints are about 60 centimetres long and 20 cm wide and look similar to man's. Author Tom Steenburg of Calgary told the conference that Bigfoot is probably a great ape that migrated across the Bering Sea land bridge tens of thousands of years ago. "What scientists really need to prove this animal exists is a body or a piece of a body." he said. "Nothing else will do."

Sasquatch Hunt Moves From Harrison To Fraser Canyon

The Sasquatch hunt has now moved from Harrison Lake area to Yale. Last Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. John Green of Agassiz, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Rene Dahinden, visited the Yale area and accompanied by friends from Yale, examined a cave reported to have been the home of a Sasquatch. Mr. Green, who is publisher of the Agassiz Advance, has done considerable research in this connection. His attention was drawn to this area by a news story carried in the Victoria Colonist under the date of July 3, 1884. Briefly, the story reports that a creature, described as half man and half beast, was captured in the vicinity of No. 4 tunnel above Yale. It is described as resembling a human being with but one exception. His entire body is covered with black glossy hair about one inch long, except the hands (or paws) and feet. It possesses extraordinary strength and occasionally utters a noise described as half bark and half growl. The Colonist article gives a dramatic description of the capture including the names of the participants, who have been found to be persons living in Yale at the time, and employed on the railroad construction. All were men of importance and holding responsible positions, one being the engineer in charge. Mr. Green interviewed August Castle, dean of oldtimers in this area. Mr. Castle was a young boy at the time and does not remember the incident but he does have a recollection of hearing later that such a "thing" had been caught. Annie York of Spuzzum was also interviewed. While Miss York does not have the age qualifications to verify the story, her wealth of knowledge of eaerly incidents as told to her by the old people years ago, yielded no clue in this connection. However, Miss York related many stories if reported sighting of Sasquatch at different points in Canyon area. A preliminary investigation of the above mentioned cave leads one to believe that it has been inhabited at one time by some form of life. Some osteological material was found but not sufficient to prove conclusively what it was.
