Review: The Sasquatch Triangle 7-5-07
Don's guest was skeptic Michael Dennett, who answered questions from myself and Bill Green, as well as discussing his association with Paul Freeman, his investigations into Bigfoot in The Pacific Northwest, his skeptical colleagues, his thoughts on Greg Long and Kal Korff and various other topics. It was an enjoyable show and full of fun. Mr. Dennett was a gentleman, and does not seem to be a "scoftic." He answered all questions very well. Don's next show will have Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society founder/President Eric Altman, at the regular time of 9:00 EST/8:00 Central and can be found at the link to the right. I hope everyone will tune in and support great research.

Editorial: The Media Strikes Again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Two recent Fox News segments, one from last week and one from this morning, are now available at This Address , and they both show how the media truly feels about the subject of Sasquatch. Not to mention their penchant for getting it wrong when it comes to this subject. In the first clip, Matt Moneymaker is brought on, ostensibly to discuss the upcoming BFRO expedition, but it was nothing more than a chance for the oh-so-intellectual anchors of Fox and Friends to mock and make light of the subject. The second clip, from this morning, features Fox reporter Steven Griff, who was initially invited to go on the expedition with the BFRO, but then was uninvited (and from the way Moneymaker was treated, I don't blame him). He did a "man-on-the-street" segment, interviewing different people on the streets of Washington, D.C. about whether they thought Sasquatch existed or not. It was pretty evenly divided, and again there was more mockery of Bigfoot, but that was not the most disturbing part; a photo of Frame 352 from the Patterson/Gimlin Movie was shown on screen and was announced as having been conclusively proven a hoax by the Fox anchors. Now, it is obvious that the Ray Wallace mix-ups have carried over into the media nearly 5 years after that whole controversy started, but surely the media would've done a little more research into it than they did. Unfortunately, we should not be surprised by this turn of events regarding the media (which Steve Kulls describes as the "blamestream media"), although some local media outlets are usually more willing to be more open-minded or neutral than national news. Still, it is disturbing to see the national media be so condescending and arrogant as to proclaim all Bigfooters as kooks and candidates for the looney bin, but it is not surprising. We will never get a fair shake from the national media as long as there is no proof of the existence of these creatures, so we should concentrate on doing our best to get that proof, undeniable proof, that will kind of rub the media's nose in it.

Review: Squatch Detective Radio 7-2-07
This was quite a controversial and thought-provoking show, with guests calling in like Diane Stocking, Don Keating, Mike Killen and the ever-controversial Tom Biscardi giving their opinions on the recent ambush tactics of Fox News last week when they had Matt Moneymaker on. This was a bit of a panel discussion in the first half-hour. The rest of the hour was devoted to talk of the new Texas video which was examined by M.K. Davis, who called in to discuss that. The rest of the hour after M.K. hung up was a little more discussion of the media and their tendency to get it wrong when it comes to this subject. It was a tremendous program, and really well-executed. Steve and Billy make for a great show, and do a great job. The next program is next Monday night at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central and can be found at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/TheSquatchDetective Hope everyone tunes in and supports great research.

Review: The Sasquatch Experience 7-01-07
Our guest tonight was supposed to be Todd Neiss, but he never called in, so Sean, James and myself discussed some of the recent happenings in the Bigfoot world in a roundtable-type discussion. We answered questions and read comments from our listeners. We also received a prank call which we handled in stride, but also our good friend Indy called in and we discussed his upcoming Squatchfest as well as other events in the Bigfoot world. This was a great and informal show which we had a lot of fun with despite some storms in my area. Our next show will have paranormal investigator Stan Gordon, and we will discuss the Bigfoot/UFO connection. The show starts at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central and can be found at the link to the right. As always, we encourage everyone to tune in and support great research.

Editorial: Making Peace with the Patterson/Gimlin Movie
Usually on this blog, I prefer to talk about all kinds of aspects of the Sasquatch or Bigfoot mystery, whether it is footprints or hair samples or fecal matter or even the personalities in this hunt, or even different behavioral aspects of these unknown hairy bipeds. These are things I like to discuss or editorialize about, and I don't mind sharing info with people. However, one thing that I am somewhat reticent to discuss is the old chestnut of the Patterson/Gimlin Movie because it happened forty years ago and there's not too much more that can be gleaned from it. I just think there is so much more to talk about a lot of the time than some 40-year-old film which seems to be the subject that everyone gets around to discussing, whether it is on a forum or chatroom or Internet Radio program. I really don't know why it bothered me so much to hear it discussed so often, when there were other things to talk about. However, I have come to make peace with the constant discussion of it recently because I realize this is the 40th anniversary this year and it is unavoidable to discuss it. I have to acknowledge to myself that as much of an old chestnut as it is, it is, like it or not, the best piece of evidence we have until something comes along that's better. I just need not to get so uptight when I hear the name pop up on an Internet Radio Show because it is basically unavoidable to talk about it. I know there are other researchers out there who would choose to focus on the here and now, and that is what we should do, but at the same time we need acknowledge that this subject is going to come up whether we like it or not, so we must grin and bear it and not get so uptight. So, would it be fair to say that I have made peace with the P/G Movie? Yes, I think it would be.
Review: The Sasquatch Triangle 6-28-07
This was a great show, with filmmaker/producer Pat Holdbrook discussing his productions and One Step Beyond Reality.com He discussed the Patterson/Gimlin Movie and the work on it done by M.K. Davis, as well as his thoughts on the Bigfoot mystery in general. Pat also answered questions from various listeners as well, including myself. It was a fun show and I enjoyed it. The next program will begin at a special start time of 10:00 EST/9:00 Central next Thursday night, with Skeptical Inquirer contributor Michael Dennett. The show can be found at the link to the right, so please remember to tune in and support great research.

Review: Destination Truth 6-27-07
This was a short-30-minute segment on the Malaysian Mawas (or Johor Hominid), Malaysia's version of Bigfoot. Josh Gates, the host, interviews different witnesses and locals about their experiences and sightings. Then, he and his team hit the jungle to search for their own evidence of the Johor Hominid's existence. They find a large track with five toes (quite misshapen from America's version), and also capture some sort of growl on audiotape which cannot be identified. The footprint is cast and a copy of it is made because the original cast cannot be taken out of the country. That cast is taken to Dr. Jeff Meldrum, who finds it interesting, but ultimately inconclusive. The recording is taken to a zoologist who listens to it intently but cannot readily identify it. I would give this segment about 3 out of five stars. I would certainly rank it above the "Sci-Fi Investigates" program which looked at Bigfoot last Fall.

Decision...
I have decided, based on the extremely steep price for a ticket, to skip the upcoming Patterson/Gimlin Movie 40th-Anniversary Symposium. A ticket is $225.00, and I just do not think I can pay that much for it. I may just decide to save up for Don Keating's 20th-Annual Eastern Ohio Bigfoot Conference instead and use the frequent-flyer miles for that. It will certainly be a sacrifice because it is a once-in-a-lifetime thing, if only to meet Bob Gimlin or John Green, but I will survive. I am not asking anyone to boycott it, nor am I discouraging anyone not to attend, but for me, it is too much, so Jason, thanks but no thanks. I do wish you luck with the Symposium though.
Let's Talk Bigfoot Tonight...
Melissa and Teresa will have as their guest Brian Brown (Bipto on the Bigfoot Forums), founder of the Bigfoot Information Project and the BFF. The show starts at 10:00 EST/9:00 Central and can be found at http://www.letstalkbigfoot.com Please tune in and support great research.
Review: Squatch Detective Radio 6-25-07
This was a pretty good show, with Steve and Billy just kind of playing off each other and discussing the latest Bigfoot news. Billy read a recent editorial he wrote over the air, and he and Steve answered questions from myself and Bill Green. It was a pretty enjoyable show, one worth listening to. The next show will perhaps have a guest, next Monday, 9:00 EST/8:00 Central, at the link which can be found in the list to the right. I hope everyone will tune in and support great research.

Strange sounds heard in the night
Late last night, I was outside checking on my kittens who sleep in one of our sheds, when I distinctly heard what sounded like a flat piece of wood being beaten against another piece of wood. It did it several times then quit. My mother told me just a few minutes ago that she heard it late-yesterday afternoon, so it makes me wonder. I am not saying it was a Sasquatch, because neither of us saw it, but it is strange.

Editorial: Independent Documentarians: Doing a great service to Bigfooting
We have all seen these specials on TV countless times, the ones which take a more skeptical look (sometimes TOO skeptical), with sneering skeptics and loaded narration which implies that anyone who studies hairy bipeds worldwide is a candidate for the looney bin and cannot be taken seriously. However, some independent documentarians have stepped up to the plate and bucked the system, with fair and balanced productions which give Bigfooters the time they need to explain their side of things. Some examples of terrific independent documentarians are Jay Michael Long from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, who has produced 3 excellent DVD's on cryptids (Swamp Apes, Bigfoot FAQ and The Honey Island Swamp Monster) and is at work on a fourth on Bigfoot in Oklahoma; Scott Herriott, who has principally produced documentaries on the Pacific Crest Trail and also on strange places in the U.S., but also produced two Bigfoot docs (Squatching and Journey Toward Squatchdom, with the latter being more a hilarious "mockumentary"); Autumn Williams, former host of Mysterious Encounters, produced an excellent DVD called Oregon Bigfoot: Search For A Living Legend Part 1 of 3; Peter von Puttkamer, producer of the terrific Sasquatch Odyssey: The Hunt For Bigfoot, as well as a Learning Channel series on monsters; John Johnsen, producer of Keeping The Watch, which featured profiles of six independent researchers; Todd Partain, producer of the terrific Eyes In The Dark: The Sasquatch Experience and Don Keating, chairman of the Eastern Ohio Bigfoot Investigation Center, who produced 5 documentaries (In The Shadow of The Sasquatch, Ohio's Abominable Snowman?, The Evidence Mounts, Sasquatch Lake: The White Bigfoot Video and The Mystery of...The Sasquatch Triangle) which are also great. These individuals are part of a new breed of filmmakers who give us Bigfooters a true chance to tell our stories without being edited or cut off by a sneering skeptic or loaded narration which makes us look like nutjobs. I would say the future of true independent cryptozoological filmmaking is safe and secure.
