One of the Northwest's biggest mysteries, the Sasquatch, also known as Bigfoot, is no longer a legend - it's alive, according to researchers who have discovered what they say is its imprint.

Deep in the northwest mountains, a team of 14 researchers tracked the elusive primate-type beast for a week deep in the mountains of the Gifford Pinchot national forest.

The imprint appears to be a hair-covered body lying down on its side, reaching over to get some fruit, the researchers said. Thermal imaging confirmed that the body print was only hours old.

From the imprint, they created a 250 lb. plaster cast of what they say is the lower half of the Sasquatch.

"We actually almost missed it," said researcher Derek Randels. "It dawned on us all at the same time, and it was overwhelming."

"These heel impressions weren't made by a person getting in the mud wallow and squirming around," said Dr. Jeff Meldrum of Idaho State University.

The trackers gathered hair samples that will be analyzed by DNA testing. They also made voice recordings of what they think is the Sasquatch wailing, also being sent off for analysis.

The creature is believed to be 7 to 8 feet tall, weighing 800 to 1,000 lbs. The researchers believe there are hundreds just like it throughout forests in the Northwest.

There are a lot of sightings, they added, but estimate that more than 90 percent of sightings go unreported for fear of ridicule.

"This cast is very hard to argue with," said Randels. "We have had a lot of very intelligent people looking at it in the last two days and I think it's just going to be a heck of a shot in the arm for the credibility of the creature's existence."

    ATTENTION BIGFOOT BELIEVERS AND SKEPTICS

Say it ain’t so, Joe...OR, The truth shall set you free...Maybe!

First Loch Ness, now Bigfoot! Get ready to listen in to an internet radio show as another famous piece of controversial monster film is set to get outed on Wednesday, March 14th, 2007 from 7:00pm-9:00pm Pacific Daylight Time, at www.bigfootliveradioshow.com.

A guest list of of five key figures will discuss the facts and controversy behind the making of the famous "Roger Patterson" Bigfoot film in 1967. In that film, Patterson shot the most famous footage of the creature known as Bigfoot - and now, you will hear from the person that claims to have worn the Bigfoot costume and another person who claims to have made the Bigfoot costume. Plus, you will also hear from several other guests who will add even more comments and controversy to Bigfoot lore.

Listeners can tune in for free to listen to "The Bigfoot Live Radio Show" hosted by Bigfoot explorer C. Thomas Biscardi, founder of Searching For Bigfoot, Inc., headquartered in Menlo Park, California (www.searchingforbigfoot.com). Biscardi has been hosting this weekly radio program for seven months and this show is going to be the first time that all these people will be talking live on the same program, according to Biscardi, and Bigfoot believers and skeptics are invited to listen in and find out the facts about the controversial "Roger Patterson" film.

Was it a man in a monkey suit, or was it really the creature commonly known as Bigfoot?

"Tune in and decide for yourself," says Biscardi, "it’s going to be a very exciting program."

The show will feature the following guests:

Bob Heironimus: This is the man who claims to be in the Gorilla suit that allegedly was purchased by Roger Patterson. Mr. Heironimus has taken two polygraph tests and reportedly, passed them both.

Phillip Moris: The man who alleges that the gorilla suit in the Patterson Film was commissioned by Roger Patterson himself, and was made and sold by Mr. Morris.

Greg Long: The writer who published the story about the Patterson discovery - The name of his book, "The Making of Bigfoot."

Pat Holbrook: Movie producer who just completed the movie using the work of M.K. Davis’s Stabilizations and study of the Patterson film for more than ten years. Mr. Holbrook appears confident that the famous Patterson

film is accurate and it’s not a man in a monkey suit.

M.K. Davis: An amateur astronomer who has devoted ten years of his life to dissecting the Patterson film through stabilizations and modern technology, and for the first time ever, will reveal and show on www.bigfootliveradioshow.com, new startling evidence why he believes that this is not a man in a gorilla suit.

So, is Bigfoot real or just a myth? Biscardi himself has seen Bigfoot creatures six times over the past 34 years of tracking and studying information about the creature, and from March 29-March 31, 2007, Biscardi will be leading an expedition to try to capture a Bigfoot in a swampy area outside of Paris, Texas. The expedition will also be filmed as a pilot for a reality TV show called "Capturing Bigfoot," to be produced by Ron Lyon of Big Cat Productions (www.wizardsofweird.com.)

The expedition is being conducted by the Granite State Paranormal Society. For additional information and for reservations to join this expedition, contact Jim Snell at The Granite State Paranormal Society in New Hampshire. People interested in joining the expedition should be in excellent health and experienced in the outdoors. Additional details on releases and waivers will be available through The Granite State Paranormal Society at 646-652-6529.

Discussions are currently underway for the media, merchandising and ancillary rights to this expedition and the "Capturing Bigfoot" series.

    BOSTON TIMES ; MONDAY MORNING , APRIL 1, 1839.

When will wonders cease? Robert Lincoln ESQ: Agent of The New York Western Lomber Company. He just returnes from the St. Peters River near the head of Steamship Navigation, on the upper Mississippi, bringing with him a living Anerican Orang Outang, or Wild Man of the woods, with two small cubs supposed to be about three months old.Mr. Lincoln informs us that he went out to the North-West as Agent for The York Lumber Company, in July last, with the view to establish intense saw-mills, on the Pine lands near the falls of Saint Anthony ; and he has given us a detail of the operations of the company, and the circumstances which lead to the capture of the extra ordinary creatures mentioned above.

Article continues about lumber exploration then continues at their camp;-

About the 15th of January, two of the carpenters who had been out in pursuit of a gang of Wolves that had proved very troublesome, came into the camp and reported that they had seen a huge monster in the forest, on a branch of the Mississippi,, having the form of a man, but much taller and stouter, covered with hair, and of freightful aspect. They stated that when first seen, he was standing on a large log, looking directly at them and the moment they raised their muskets, he darted into the thicket and disappeared. They saw him again in half of an hour, apparently watching them, and when they turned towards him he again disappeared. Mr. Lincoln was at first disposed to think lightly of this matter, believing that the men might have been mistaken about the size and height of the object, or supposedly it might have been a trick of the Indians to freighten them. He was informed, however, by some of the Natives, that such a being had often been seen on the Saint Peters, and near the falls of the Mississippi, and they postponed to guide a party of the workmen a Bluff where it was thought he might be found. The men were all ready for an adventure, and arming themselves with rifles and hunting knives, they started for the Bluff under the direction of Mr. Lincoln and the Indian guides. On the way they were joined by several of the Natives, and the whole party numbered twenty-three.

They arrived at the Bluff late in the afternoon on the 21st of January, and encamped in a cave or grotto, at the foot of the hill. Early in the morning, two Indians were sent out to reconnoiter, and in about an houtr returned, and said they had seen the wild man, on the other side of the hill. The whole party immediateltprepared for the pursiut. Mr. Lincoln gave positive orders to the men, not to fire upon him unless it should be necessary fo self-defence, as he wished to take him alive. The Indians stated that although a very powerful creature, he was belived to be perfectly harmless, as he always fled at the approach of men. While Mr. Lincoln was giving his men the instructions, the wild man appeared in sight. He ordered them to remain perfectly quiet, and taking out his pocket glass surveyed him minutely. He appeared to be about eight or nine feet high, very athletic, and more like a beast standing erect than a man. After satisfying himself with regard to the character of the creature, Mr. Lincoln ordered his men to advance. The I ndian had provided themselves with ropes, prepared to catch wild horses, with which they hoped to ensure and bind the creature, without maiming him.

The instant the company moved toward the wild man, he sprang forward with a loud and freightful yell, which made the forest ring ; the Indians followed close upon him, Mr. Lincoln and his men brought up the rear. The pursuit was continued for nearly an hour - now gaining upon the object of their chase, and now almost loosing sight of him. The trees, however, were quit open, and free from underbrush, which enabled them to make their way very rapidly. Whenever they came very near him, he stared forward again to yell, and appeared to increase his speed. He finally darted into a thicket, and although they followed close and made much search, they were unable to find him.

They then began to retrace their steps toward the place of encampment, and when within about a mile of the cavern, the wildman crossed their path, within twenty rods of the main body of the party. They immediatly gave chase again, and accidently drove the creature from the forest and into an open field or prairie. The monster appeared to be much freightened at his situation, and leaped forward, howling hideously. At length he suddenly stopped and turned upon his pursuers. Mr. Lincoln was then in the disadvance. Fearing that he might attack them or return to the woods and escape, he fired upon him and lodged a charge of buckshot in the calf of his leg. He fell immediately, and the Indians sprang forward and threw their ropes over his head, arms and legs, and with much effort succeeded in binding him fast. He struggled, however, most desperately gnashed his teeth, and howelled in a freightful manner. They then formed a sort of litter of branches and limbs of trees, and placed him upon it, carried him to the encampment. A watch was then placed over him, and every effort made that could be devised to keep him quiet, but he continued to howl most pitiously all night. Towards morning two cubs, about three feet high, and very similar to the large monster, came into the camp, and were taken without resistance. As soon as the monster saw them he became very furious - gnashed his teeth, and howled, and thrashed about, until he burst several of the cords, and came very near effecting his escape. But he was bound anew, and after that was kept most carefully watched and guarded. The next day he was placed on a litter and carried down to the mills on the Saint Peters.

For two or three days, Mr. Lincoln says, he refused to eat or drink, or take any kind of food, but continued to howl at intervals for an hour at a time. At length, however, he began to eat, but from that time his howls ceased, and he has remained stupid and sullen evr since. The cubs took food very readily, and became very active and playful. Mr. Lincoln is a native of Boston, and some of the workmen engaged at his mills are from the city. He arrived here Saturday afternoon in the brig St. Charles, Stewart, master, from New Orleans, with the wildman and the cubs, and they were all removed from the vessel that evening. By invitation of Mr. Lincoln, who is an old acquaintence, we went down to his rooms to examine the monster. He is a horrible looking creature, and reminds us very strongly of the fabled satyrs, as we have pictures them in our mind. He is about eight feet three inshes high, when standing erect, and his frame is of giant proportions in every part. His legs are not straight , but like those of a dog and other four footesd animals, and his whole body is covered with a hide much like that of a cow. His arms are very large and long, and ill-proportioned. It does not appear from his manner that he has ever walked on "all fours". The fingers and toes are mere bunches, armed with stout claws. His head is covered with thick, course, black hair, like the mane of a horse. The appearance of his countenance, if such it may be called, is very disgusting - nay, almost horrible. It is covered with thinner and lighter coat of hair than the rest of his body ; there is no appearance of eye brown or nose ; the mouth is very large and wide, and similar to that of a babboon. Mr. Lincoln says he is beyond dispute carnivorous, as he universally e4jects bread and vegitables, and eats flesh with great avidity. He thinks he is of the ourang, outang species ; but from what little we have seen, we are inclined to consider him a wild animal, somewhat resembling a man. He is, to say the least, one of the most extraordinary creature that has ever been brought before the public, from any part of the earth, or the waters under the earth, and we believe will prove a difficult puzzle to the sceintific. He lies down like a brute, and does not appear to possess more instinct than common domestic animals. He is now quite tame and quiet, and is only confined to a stout chain attached to his leg.

This is the first creature of the kind, we believe, ever found on this contenent. It was to be expected, however, that in penetrating the remote recesses of the new world, monsters would be found, and great natural curiousities brought to light ; and it has been a matter of surprise to many that so little of the marvelous has ever been discovered. But we can not tell what the wilds of the far North-West, the shores of Lake Superior, the regeons of the Rocky Mountains, andd the vast territory of the Oregon, may yet bring forth.

It is Mr. Lincolns intention to submit these animals to the inspection of the sceintific for a few days, in order to ascertain what they are, and after that to dispose of them to some persons for exhibition. Mr. Lincoln himself will return to the Saint Peters in the course of two or three weeks.

P.S. Mr. Lincoln informs us that he will exhibit the wild man and his cubs, gratuitously, this afternoon, in the rear of No.9 Elm Street. We presume that our citizens will not be slow to take advantage of this offer..

SDSMT says it doesn't have body of a Bigfoot

By Tom Lawrence, Black Hills Pioneer August 11, 2006

RAPID CITY -- Of course they'd deny it.
The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology doesn't have the body of Bigfoot, the school announced in a press release Wednesday.
Breanna Bishop, SDSMT's public information coordinator, issued the unusual press announcement Wednesday morning. The release was sent after an Internet site "reported" that the body of one of the mythological creatures was on campus after it had been shot near Slim Buttes last week.
"According to a report appearing on a number of blogs, Bigfoot was shot and killed Tuesday, Aug. 1, on the Pine Ridge Reservation," the release states. "After a smudging ceremony, the body was allegedly transported to a School of Mines laboratory for studies."
The body was supposedly seen and given a ceremonial treatment by three Lakota elders, including Wilmer Mesteth and Oliver Red Cloud.
"Tell them it's a bunch of baloney," Mesteth said Wednesday in a telephone interview. "I think someone is playing a practical joke."
He said he was starting to get phone calls from people who had heard the report. He said Red Cloud is an amputee who does not travel and could not have gone to the site of the Bigfoot shooting.
Bigfoot, which is referred to as "Chiye-tanka" or "The Big Man" is in some books about Native American culture and spirituality.
SDSMT chose to play the story as a joke.
"Despite receiving nearly $14 million in research and development funding in the 2006 fiscal year and having a wide array of cutting-edge research initiatives, the School of Mines has no facilities dedicated to Bigfoot or other cryptozoology research," the release stated.

    Cowlitz County Washington 1980 May

At one of Ray Crowe's Western Bigfoot Meetings, someone brought up the topic of corpses of sasquatches after the May 18, 1980 eruption of Mt. St. Helens in Washington State. The witness heard of two sasquatches the Army Corps of Engineers had taken out of the volcanic devistation, this was two months after the inital blast.

Terry Reams heard of a dredging operation of the Cowlitz River and two bodies were found in the sand (probably same case?). A chopper flew them off.

Joe Beelart offered that the crane doing the dredging was from the Manatowaka Company and that the bodies were found two weeks after the Mt. St. Helen's blast of May 18, 1980. He suggested that somebody might want to track down the company and find out who was working the shift that the bodies had been found on.

Source: Track Record #91 .. During a tour of the devastation by helicopter in 1985, the Viet veteran helo pilot mentioned a similar tale to Bobbie Short saying there were military helos that choppered out nets full of burned and semi burned elk, deer, bear and something with hairy charred arms hanging out of the drop nets. They were taken to a common pit where the bodies were burned to avoid disease and contamination of the rivers. (it might be the same story as above)

    TR 91 SEPT 1999 *

Fred Bradshaw report concerning dead Bigfoot bodies near Mt. St. Helens.

My father worked for Weyerhauser Co. at Green Mountain ,WA, east of Vancouver. The site has security on their roads to check on the equipment and check closed areas to keep people out.

My father was working the day Mt. St. Helens blew up. He was at a meeting in Kelso, WA, and as he was a supervisor, when Mt. St. Helens blew it's side out, all heck cut lose.

My father was sent back to Green Mountain right away but like most he wasn't allowed to go very far because of the mud slide coming down the river. He did get to the town of Toutle, WA, on highway 504 off I-5. He and his crew were placed at different spots to watch mud flow and of course help people get out of the blast zone after the major blow up. He was sent to the area of Sprit Lake to keep people out.

When the second major blow up of the mountain came, my father and the other guy with him reported in, and they got out of there.

He was then placed in charge of the helicopter landing zone. It was his job to help keep people out of the landing zone and let aid crews in so they could care for injured.

Later. when all the people were out and bodies out, the National Guard was brought in to clean up. They hauled dead animals out that they placed in piles; deer in one, elk in another and so on. They were covered up with tarps and later burned.

But my father was placed in charge of one pile of dead that were covered and no one was allowed to go near. Armed U.S. National Guard personal were around this pile, and one day when they were going to move this group of bodies, and my father was very close to it and was told to keep his mouth closed. And when the tarps were removed he saw the creatures, some badly burned and some not. They placed them in a net and lifted them into a truck and covered it over. My father asked a guardsmen what will they do with them and he said study them or what ever...he didn't want to know. He said it's like other things you don't ask, and off they went . AND NO ONE KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM. My father and the rest were debriefed and sent home.

    Spies In Brazil Encounter Bigfoot

    http://www.internationalbigfootsociety.com/html/the_track_record.php

    ( Government Agents/Spies )

We packed all our surveillance equipment and proceeded towards the extraction zone. That's when we discovered a guava tree (has a yellow skinned fruit used for jellies and preserves) pulled out of the ground (12 inches in diameter) by its roots. NO tracks of a tractor or man, so what did it? We carefully examined the structure and the crevice it was violently ripped from. No man did this, therefore it had to be an animal? Ape? (The fruit from the tree had all been eaten except for one half-eaten guava on the ground. There were large bare footprints, five clear ones, all around, and leading up a path before they disappeared. Not in this part of Brazil! We decided to hurry about our business, nevertheless the feeling was tense and awkward.

That night (sunset 9-lOPM, saw creature about midnight) we put the heat intense lamp on so we could clean our weapons (lamp produces lots of heat, and a little light). We broke down our (30-.30s) weapons (believe that’s why it came when it did. Doug Howard suggested, although 7mm sidearm were still available) and then we began to smell something (musky Odor). We all did, only I looked up to see something staring intently with deep brown piercing eyes looking directly at me as though he could telepathically communicate with me (it had pulled back a branch and was holding it with its fingers showing, he didn’t recall if the thumb was being used to grasp or not. Could see the definition of its muscles and knew it was very strong to hold back the thick branch. The other hand was at its side. It bad a human-like face, the nose was spread, but there was a bridge, and a heavy brow. It was very broad, especially at the shoulders, guess at four feet. It didn’t make any noises. I nodded at Ian, he saw it but the creature seemed to sense I was the leader ("I had eye contact... it looked peeved.")

I commanded this group of intruders. It has intelligence, sensitivity, emotions, and possessed strength no human had, yet a primitive nature that dictated when to use its brutal force. It bad hands and feet very similar to human, but it also possessed an animal instinct that we're not what we seemed to be. (as a group). A very cautious curiosity. I had a picture of the Mono Grande ape from Strange ..

Magazine, #7, but Paddy said, it didn't look anything like that... that was nothing but a monkey.)

I could feel this monstrous brute telling me - leave me alone, go away and leave my habitat alone - I don’t want to hurt you, but I will if you don’t leave me alone. He turned around showing a clear profile in the process that was human, not ape or bear or alien - he is human! or like. (My friends wanted to kill it, but the guns were still apart for cleaning, and I didn’t see any reason to shoot it anyway.)

I didn’t realize that our surveillance camera captured pictures of the creature. I had accidentally tripped the switch and, live-in-color, we had Bigfoot. I took the camera out of the case to reload it and put the film in my Alice pack in case I had to ditch it. It held a full case of film 1 1/2 hours of video film used specially for night photos or slow motion (You'd play hell trying to get that film from the CIA, officially it doesn't exist, Paddy said).

We found areas near the extraction zone where they (the creatures) slept in the grass (measured 8 1/2 feet long) leaving indentations in the wet grassy meadows. We found trails carved out by constant use leading toward the mountains, but never again did we find Bigfoot and as far as the crew was concerned, the better if we didn’t, they did not share my curiosity of him.

We were extracted and debriefed at Fort Meade, only to be given polygraph and drugs to find the validity of our "preposterous" statements - the photographs and the SATSCAN reports verified our discovery, yet the entire Federal apparatus clamped down on our discovery and swore us to secrecy in the interest of National security ("During the debriefing ordeal we were accused of: drinking and were asked if the thing had big wings, they just laughed the whole thing off, including the pictures; we were branded as nuts.")

I went back with Dr. Antonio Salazar (died 1991, apparent heart attack) and Dr. Rolando Santiago (disappeared 1990) of La Paz University in Bolivia (Dept. of Anthropology) in the period of Oct.-May, 1984-1985. Both were acquainted with the sightings and stories told about a huge creature who roams the world over. (Paddy thinks the scientists deaths were suspicious, and that the government killed them.

They told him that the creatures were not violent but that they have terrible tempers. Indian tales told of a group of the creatures that had apparently come into a village in the middle of the night in SE'rn Brazil, an "trashed" everything. The village Indians left and never returned. Indians throughout the area seemed to be aware of the monsters, calling them "Walking Gods" or simply "Diablo," Spanish for Devil. Whatever it was..."it scared the hell out of me.")

We crossed illegally into the area and I showed them where we found the tree, and it was still there, the camp they (the creatures) made in the grassy meadows and where the facility was, everything was still there as when we left it when we discovered the nuclear facility. We set up our camp exactly where I was before, using a kerosene lamp, only I put (out a wood bowl of red delicious) apples in the area where I saw the creature. Each of us took turns waiting, one was on guard duty, two were asleep. Watching yet we saw nothing though the apples were missing when we arose at sunup. I never saw the creature again, but I sense he isn’t too far away from where I first looked upon him (there were no tracks, so anything could have taken the apples).

All the proof of their existence is held in folk lore of the Indians, and people who have seen them, but; its world wide, not just the outback's and mountains, but every conceivable nook and cranny. Why do we deny their existence?

Review: The XZone with Rob McConnell 3-12-07

This was a great hour with Ohio researcher Don Keating, who discussed his research in the Buckeye State, as well as sighting reports he has heard. Our own Bill Green and Billy Willard called in with some great questions, as well as Rob from Scarborough, Ontario. Don is one of the true researchers who has a lot of knowledge about the subject in Ohio. Great show as always, Rob, and it is good to see you treat the subject of Sasquatch fairly without delving into the old chestnut of the Patterson Movie. Thank you, Rob, for your support.

    Review: Squatch Detective Radio 3-12-07

This was a great show, with Illinois researcher Stan Courtney, who discussed his research with sounds in his area, as well as a few sound clips that were played which may or may not have been coyotes. Chris Barto, Billy Willard and Dave Donlon called in with questions for Stan regarding sound equipment and other things like that. The show was great and really enjoyable. Steve's next guest will be the ever-controversial Jon-Erik Beckjord next Monday night at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/thesquatchdetective As always, please tune in and support great research.

    Bigfoot's Reflection

    - In production with Space The Imagination Station

Bigfoot's Reflection is an hour long POV documentary that will focus firmly on how the quest for an ephemeral monster changes the monster hunter, for good or ill. Though there is sufficient evidence to support the possibility of Bigfoot, final proof eludes the hunter. Today a younger generation of Bigfoot hunters is strapping on their gear, saddling up, and setting out to ride a new wave of sightings. The torch is being passed from the grand old men who founded this field, to a more techno-savvy and cyber friendly generation. In the late 1990's the field of Bigfoot research faded as prominent hunters died or retired with almost nothing but faith to show for their efforts. But with the predominance of the internet, and recent major stories out of Manitoba and the Yukon, things have been heating up. But has anything really changed? Will this time be any different?

  • Editorial: The Myakka Skunk Ape Photos: Real or Hoax?

This mysterious photo, and others like it, along with a letter, were turned in to the Sarasota, Florida Sheriff's Department sometime in 1999 and made quite an impact on the Sasquatch community. They were apparently taken by an elderly woman who has yet to be identified near Myakka Park in Sarasota County and appear to be one of three things-a Skunk Ape, an escaped orangutan or a hoax. Some who subscribe to the hoax theory say it is a model from the Ripley's Believe It Or Not! Museum, while others hypothesize it is an escaped orangutan, and it does resemble an orang as well, although the face reminds me of the Hollywood-created creature in Harry And The Hendersons. If indeed it is an orang, then it somehow escaped either from a zoo or a Wildlife Preserve, although no zoo or Wildlife Preserve reported any missing orangs. Certainly, there are all kinds of primates loose in the forests of the Sunshine State, and it is entirely possible a stray orang wandered into Sarasota County. The elderly woman's story goes as follows: she was in her home one night, when she heard what she described as a "whoomp" noise from her backyard. She started leaving out apples to see about luring whatever it was into the yard. She heard the noises again and took a few photos, capturing this strange individual. She wanted to remain anonymous because she didn't want publicity and wanted nothing to do with the Skunk Ape, which is understandable. To this day, no one knows the identity of the elderly lady who took the photos, nor if the photos are genuine. We know this, however-it is an enduring mystery which does not have any answers.

This was a great and informal show, with James Baker and Bill Green joining us for a lively discussion on alternate theories of Sasquatch, including talk of a certain individual who espouses those theories. We also discussed why a body had not been found and got a phone call from Steve "Indy" Pickett giving us some support. This was a lot of fun, and we hope to continue to do our shows like this on Wednesday nights. Our next show will be Sunday the 11th, with guests Billy Willard and Tom Lancaster from Virginia. Name: The Lizard Man of Scape Ore Swamp
AKA: The Lizard Man Of Lee County

    First Reported: June 29, 1988

    2005 (last sighting)
    Country: United States
    Region: Lee County, South Carolina
    Status: Unconfirmed

The Lizard Man of Scape Ore Swamp, or 'The Lizard Man Of Lee County', is a humanoid creature rumored to inhabit the swampy areas of Lee County, South Carolina.

It was first reported by 17 year old Christopher Davis on June 29, 1988, around the hours of 2 AM. He was driving home from work, taking a road that borders Scape Ore Swamp, when his tire blew out, forcing him to stop. Davis claimed later that while changing the tire, he heard a loud thump from a field across the road.

“I looked back and saw something running across the field towards me. It was about 25 yards away and I saw red eyes glowing. I ran into the car and as I locked it, the thing grabbed the door handle. I could see him from the neck down – the three big fingers, long black nails and green rough skin. It was strong and angry. I looked in my mirror and saw a blur of green running. I could see his toes and then he jumped on the roof of my car. I thought I heard a grunt and then I could see his fingers through the front windshield, where they curled around on the roof. I sped up and swerved to shake the creature off.”

Davis would later give a clearer physical description of the creature as being around seven feet tall with the same details as above.

Davis arrived home in a panicked state, waking up his parents. Trying to figure out what had happened, his father went out to look at the car. There were scratches around the door handle and the side-view mirror had been twisted badly. On the top of the car was a series of deep scratches and grooves.

This report sparked off a rush of Lizard Man reports that lasted all summer and encompassed not just Scape Ore Swamp and Bishopville, South Carolina where the original report was made, but the whole of Lee County. At the height of the Lizard Man scare, police were receiving so many calls about the Lizard Man that people with more immediate problems could not get through, and a separate Lizard Man Hotline had to be established.

By August of the same year the Lizard Man scare had died down, and few reports concerning it have been made since.

As of July 2005, the Lizard Man has "reappeared" in television promotions for South Carolina's state lottery.

In October 2005, a woman in Newberry, South Carolina reported to the police that she had seen two creatures resembling the Lizard Man outside her home. The responding officer, Officer Michael Kennedy, apparently amused, told the woman that the creatures "just like to check on humans from time to time."

    Review: The Sasquatch Experience 3-4-07

This was a special two-hour show, with the first hour being a roundtable discussion with myself, Sean Forker, Mike Killen, James Baker and Billy Willard. We discussed Sasquatch pheromones, infrasound, the recent "Best Evidence" special and skeptics. Our second-hour guest was Dr. John Bindernagel, who answered some questions regarding Sasquatch physiology, diet, how its lifestyle compares with other large mammals of North America, his follow-up book and other topics of interest. A certain disruptive individual called the show and confronted our guest and tried to disrupt the show, but otherwise,it was a great and informative show, and I really enjoyed it. Our next show is Wednesday night with the "Sasquatch Experience Lite." Then, next Sunday, Billy will be back with us along with his research partner Tom Lancaster. The Wednesday Night show airs at 9:30 EST/8:30 Central, and the Sunday Night show airs back at our regular time of 9:00 EST/8:00 Central. Description of tonight's XZone Radio Show...

12 am – 02 am Eastern Kal Korff – The Finality of Bigfoot, The Exposing of Billy Meier, The Alien Autopsy Hoax by Ray Santilli, SecretWars Update. It seems that Rob McConnell is closing the door on Sasquatch on the XZone for now, but folks like myself and Sean Forker and Steve Kulls and Steve "Indy" Pickett will pick up the slack as far as getting out info on a radio show, so this is not too discouraging to me. Rob has the right to do with his show what he wants, much as we do with ours. I still support Rob either way, and have no problem with him at all. I still salute you, Rob.

  • Nessie Discovered?
  • John Bindernagel, B.S.A., MS, Ph.D.

I am a 67 year-old professional wildlife biologist who is seriously studying the sasquatch or bigfoot in North America. My interest in this animal began in 1963 when, as a third-year-student in wildlife management at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada, I was laughed at for raising the report of an animal described as an "ape-man" for possible discussion. My field work began in 1975 when our family moved to British Columbia, partly in order for me to begin field work on this
species. In 1988, my wife and I found several sasquatch tracks in good condition in the mountains not far from our home on Vancouver Island. Plaster casts which we made from these tracks provided the first tangible evidence I encountered for the existence of the sasquatch. Wildlife biologists such as myself regularly depend on tracks and other wildlife sign as evidence for the presence of bears, deer, wolves, and other mammals, recognizing that tracks constitute a more reliable and persistent record of the presence of a mammal species in an area than a fleeting glimpse of the animal itself. Although I now have no doubt regarding the existence of the sasquatch, this was not always the case. However now that I am satisfied that the sasquatch is a real animal, subject to study and examination like any other large mammal, I am much more concerned with addressing ecological questions such as how it overwinters in the colder regions of North America, than with dwelling on the controversy of whether it does or does not exist. I remain aware, however, that many people are not aware of the large volume of information that exists about this species and I understand why others are less ready than I am to treat it as a real animal.

  • Bigfoot Discovered?

  • Bigfoot Seen in San Francisco?

  • Is Bigfoot Living In The California Forest?
  • Grievances of the Bigfoot Community by Matt K. Used with Permission

Dysfunction of the Bigfoot community. I've only been in this internet community for about 5 years or so, and since my first observation of it, nothing has changed. I have heard many well respected researchers who have been doing this since the 70's and before talk about how this is the way it's always been. Every topic of Bigfoot research has it's advocates and antagonists. Pro-kill/no- kill, call blasting/quiet listening, carry a weapon/don't carry a weapon, gentle giant/violent beast, the list goes on and on. The debate shouldn't even be about any of these things. The true heart of the matter is what are each individuals intentions. What is their goal? What is their main objective? These are where the differences take place. The other things are just details of how one intends to carry out their objective in this field, so why argue about it or be concerned with it? Does it infringe on your own intentions?
At one point in time I felt pulled in opposite directions by some of these pointless debates. I felt I had to choose one side or the other. Then I realized the problem wasn't in those issues, but the fact that my intentions, my main objective was just in fact different than those of the people I was trying to either side with or argue against. Our main enemy in this entire thing is lack of communication and trust. There are various reasons for that, but one of the main ones, that could be resolved, is a barrier we have placed on ourselves.
Pro-kill vs. No-kill. The most heated debate amongst the Bigfoot community of researchers. My question is "Why?" This is where goals and intentions come into play stronger than any other argument. Do you want to prove the existence of Bigfoot to the public, or to yourself? If your answer is the public, then any amount of rational thought behind the problem can one only come to an absolute conclusion. You need a body, or at least part of one. Science will settle for nothing less. The public will settle for nothing less. For those who believe a photograph or video will do the trick, then I have to say you are either not thinking this through rationally, or you are not interested in proving it's existence to anyone other than yourself. Let's just say you do somehow manage to get a photo or video. It's not going to be of National Geographic caliber. Odds are it's going to be no better than any of the hundreds of photos we already have that we dub "blob squatches." There are entirely too many variables in any given situation for someone to execute the goal of achieving clear photographs and or video. Not only the problems of maintaining controlled thought and body movement enough to take the picture, you also have to have the correct settings for the amount of light, the correct exposure settings, the right kind of film, a proper lens, the correct angle, the proper focusing, as I said, too many variables. Even if you were able to obtain a clear photo or video of a Bigfoot, who would believe you? How would you prove to anyone it wasn't someone in a suit, or some sort of special effects? Don't take my word for it, ask Bob Gimlin. Film documentation is not enough. As far as DNA samples are concerned, without a specimen to compare it to, they mean nothing to the scientific community.
We live in a world where we have become disillusioned, we are a generation who has seen everything. We no longer are concerned with the magic and wonder of the world's secrets. Myths and fairytales are things for children. Unless you have something someone can walk up and touch or stare at from behind a glass wall, we don't care enough to look at the "evidence." The new God of the world is television. That's what we believe. We believe Ray Wallace was Bigfoot, and otherwise it's just something comical thrown into a movie or commercial for amusement purposes. Anything that can be hoaxed, will be considered worthless. A physical body is the only thing that can't be hoaxed. For those who want to point fingers and scorn others for trying to obtain a physical specimen, if you are in it for the same reasons, and you honestly feel the same can be obtained by other methods, then why not apply some of your own ideas? If you think you can capture one live, or you feel photographic evidence is enough, then pursue that. If both sides are after the same thing, then instead of attacking those who have a different plan of accomplishing that goal, share your information back and forth, and then everyone will be closer to accomplishing what they are after. Someone you might be attacking, may hold that missing puzzle piece you need to accomplish your own goal.
Another problem this community faces is general public support. We are cast in a shameful light in the majority of documentaries, movies, and news reports. Maybe shameful isn't the correct word, it's more of a tongue-in-cheek thing really. Whether it be the crazy old town drunk, or the widow woman living in a trailer with her 18 cats, they always seem to make an appearance for the camera. When a building burns down, do the news reporters interview the crackhead that was across the street watching it burn, or do they interview the fire chief? The answer here is obvious. The reason for that is because the subject of Bigfoot is considered entertainment, and not real news. We are not looked at as professionals, we are looked at as hobbyists and crazies. The media has already convinced the public that Bigfoot does not exist, so who in their right mind would spend so much time and resources looking for it? Of course we in the community stand back and scoff right back at the public because they do not understand, they don't know the things we know. We could try to educate them, but in today's lifestyle that would take up entirely too much time. The public's attention span is limited as it is. That's the reason newscasts mix in some humorous stories in between the war efforts and today's latest homicide. Quite frankly can you imagine trying to explain the concept of weight displacement and dermal ridge patterns to someone who is picturing Harry and the Hendersons since the first second you mentioned the word "Bigfoot?" It's a losing battle. With those kind of preconceived notions, we end up with the documentaries we have in the public sector. A handful of weirdos and crazies, maybe a few minutes of "real" researchers, and then the rest of the time devoted to skeptics with their PhD's posted below their names ripping apart the crazy persons claims. It's an age-old entertainment technique being used. The same type of entertainment could be found in a coliseum in ancient Rome. Two slaves worked half way to death, then put into an arena with five highly trained soldiers, a few tigers, and a roaring crowd surrounding them. I mean honestly, do more people in America watch "Survivor" or "Nova?" The public is the majority, and the majority's voice is always heard. The question is, who is our majority, and who is speaking the loudest?
Honestly speaking, the Bigfoot community is seething with people who have true motives other than what they are claiming. I'd say strictly from observations I've made and people I've talked to, that 85% of the people in the research community either lie about sightings and experiences they've had, are falsely identifying experiences they have had, or have no experience what-so-ever. I'm not even talking about the so called "armchair researchers. " I have no problem with people who for whatever reason do not go out into the field, but still have an interest in the subject, and like to discuss it amongst other enthusiasts. That is fine. I do however have a problem with those people when they try to tell someone else who does go out into the field that they are wrong in their observations and conclusions. To me that is overstepping a boundary. No, my main grievance lies within the confines of our own research community. The people with the ulterior motives.
Sadly enough I feel that most of these individuals contaminating the research community aren't even aware they are doing it. They have been living under false pretenses for so long that they've become caught up in it, and do not even realize their own motives. What may have started out innocently enough as a genuine interest in a subject has become a drug to feed their social needs that they are unable to obtain elsewhere. These people have very little in their lives, not many friends, and are socially awkward. Within the Bigfoot community they have become "somebody." They get an opportunity to socialize, to get a glimmer of the spotlight's attention, and to add a bit of excitement to their otherwise mundane lives. It is all about their own needs being met internally. Bigfoot research is just the means they use to accomplish this. It could be UFO's, Ghosts, Knitting, Kite Flying, anything that allows them to feel they are a part of something bigger, something that allows them to live in a fantasy world outside of the reality of their own. Unfortunately these individuals take it to extremes. They pollute the community with false reports. They make up stories that supposedly happened to make Bigfoot into whatever they want it to be, and not what it actually is. A lot of these types of people are considered "Bigfoot Romantics." Not all of these people are "Romantics" and not all "Romantics" are these type individuals however. In fact, I would say a large majority of these type individuals fall beneath the radar. They can use other people's research and sound like they are being honest and know what they are talking about. The internet provides them with the curtain to hide behind, and only by getting these people out into the field can you reveal the truth about their "Wizard of Oz" personas.
The other individuals with booming voices in the research community is the people with "Fame & Fortune" as their motives. The "media hounds." The people out to make a name for themselves and receive publicity for their actions. Unfortunately it's usually someone else's actions or research these people claim to be their own. Normally the person who loves to be in front of the camera, or interviewed by the local newspaper, is actually the person who does the least amount of actual research on the subject. Of course these individuals act like they absolutely hate this burden of being the "spokesperson. " They act like they are making a sacrifice for the greater good. Do not be deceived by this act. If that were the case they would rotate the duties amongst other individuals, or they would give credit to other people from where their information originally came from. They in fact love the spotlight, and the attention they receive. It boosts their ego to a level where they feel superior to other researchers and common folk. None of that would even bother me, or really cause any problems within the community if it weren't for one simple aspect. They use other people's work and findings as their own. Who is going to know more about a subject, a person who was there and actually witnessed the event take place, or a person who heard about it at dinner a week later? How much of the event is going to stay intact and true by the time it works it's way to wherever it ends up? How often do the "media hounds" spice it up a bit, or add their own creative flair to make it sound grander than what it actually is? These "media hounds" are not just in front of the camera or a news reporter. Some of them go no farther than the internet to get their rise to fame. They can become know it alls and gurus on the internet, after all who is going to prove them wrong via the web?
As far as "Fame & Fortune" are concerned in relationship to motives, don't kid yourself. There are two sides to this one, first you have the person who is driven by these goals, then you have the people who accuse others falsely of wanting to obtain this goal. The majority of the time, the people who are accused of this being their sole motivation are being falsely accused. Most of the intelligent people in this community already know that chasing after these goals are a goose chase at best. Some simple research you can do on your own is ask yourself who proved the existence of the Panda to the world. Name in history? Hardly. You aren't going to open up any mainstream history book and find the information, nor are you going to discover that the man made a fortune off of his discovery. The only people making money off discoveries are scientists, and that's in the form of misappropriated grants. They do not give the local guide who led them to the location to make the discovery millions of dollars. Sure you might get a small amount of fame in the beginning, but once Bigfoot is proven to the world it will eventually find it's way into zoos and museums and become just another strange animal alive in the world. Someone might even pay you for your story or movie rights. Does that make you famous or rich? Of course not. You'll be a flash in the pan at best. You're never going to find "The Person Who Found Bigfoot" on the New York Time's best seller list. Once it is proven, the public isn't going to allow themselves to eat crow. The media isn't going to allow egg to be repeatedly smeared on their faces. It will be buried as quickly as possible and turned over to science. Let's say you are somehow the lucky one who finds yourself in possession of a Bigfoot body. Who is the mystery billionaire that's going to make you rich? What if the Government decides it needs to take over the situation? No, I'm afraid if you were the "lucky" one, you would find yourself in a very dire situation indeed. At the very best you could plan it all out strategically, find a private buyer, and make your money. Then you can worry about Uncle Sam trying to figure out where you got all this money, and try to hide any connections you had with the buyer. As far as the fringe market is concerned, ask any well known Bigfoot author, or any documentary film maker how much profit they have earned off the subject. I promise you it is even less than you can imagine. Nobody is making a living off of Bigfoot outside of conning private individuals into giving them money and equipment.
What can be done to rectify the situation? Is it even possible? I would like to think so. I'm certainly not shallow minded enough to believe we can get everyone on the same page or in agreement with one another. I do however believe it is possible to shift the majority and the loudest voice being heard, but it takes cooperation from many individuals. We have to ask ourselves are we in this together or separately. Do we have a common goal over all, or are our motives other than what we portray to the community?
Individuals who are involved with the Bigfoot community, who are in it for internal socializing reasons, need to admit this to themselves. Once they have done that, they need to seek the passion that got them where they are in the first place, and put that to good use. Accept the findings of the field researchers for what they are. Do not try and make Bigfoot something you want it to be, but just observe and listen to the evidence collected, and learn what it really is. Then draw your conclusions from there. If you are not a researcher, and just an observer, do not try to portray one on the internet or in life. That's only doing more harm than good in the long run. I promise you, people in this community will talk to you, and discuss things with you regardless of how much or how little you know, or how grand of a story you can tell. If you think it would be neat to have an encounter, put forth the time and money it takes to put yourself in situations where that could take place. Don't make one up to get attention and admiration from others in the community. All you're accomplishing is misleading people and keeping our research held back by chasing dead end leads. If you think it would be neat to have Bigfoot on your property, but don't have any there, then just deal with that. Make friends with people who do have it, and visit their homes. Talk to them. Ask them questions about it. You'll be surprised to find out that the ones who really do have this happening on their properties don't really enjoy it all that much. It's not some magical event where they make a connection with some mythical beast. Most of the time all it does is cause turmoil in their private lives.
"Media Hounds." If you like the attention, be a true representative to the community as a whole, not just yourself. Give credit to the people you have obtained your information from. Show people that there is more than just a handful of people who are doing true research. The more names and findings of credible people you get out into the public eye, the more our voice is heard, and the shift of the majority starts to happen. You don't have to worry about losing your limelight. There are plenty of people who do not like the attention of the media, but still have valuable information to contribute. Be a liaison between the media and the research community, but be respectful of other people's hard work. If you want to give out information from a second hand source, talk to the person before hand and ask them if it's ok. Ask them if they would like the recognition. The answer may surprise you.
"Fortune Seekers." Wake up. If you have figured out a way to make a fortune off of this subject, then by all means do so. I don't see how you're going to accomplish anything by being alone in your endeavors. I've never known a time for fortune and greed not to go hand in hand. If you are looking for wealth, the odds are you are not wanting to share that wealth. The same probably holds true for any information that you might have that could be beneficial to the rest of the community. You probably hold it close out of paranoia that someone else might come along and make your "fortune" before you. There are numerous ways to share information without giving out exact details. The odds are since you're in it for the money aspect, you do not have large amounts of money at the time being. Maybe if you were willing to share your ideas or findings, other like minded individuals would help contribute to the cause. Of course this would come at a price. Any investment made would expect a profitable return in the case of a successful outcome. I do not personally agree with money being the key motivation, but it is motivation none the less. There have been many great things achieved throughout history with money as the motivational factor. I just don't see where the fortune is to be made, and I think if someone accomplished their goal it would actually make a lot of other people happy as well. "Fortune Seekers" just need to realize their common goal with everyone else, and try to make their money on their own while working together.
As far as the media is concerned, we already hold the key to changing it. We just need to put forth a group effort. We have amongst our ranks many talented and knowledgeable people in the media industry. Documentary film makers, authors, journalists, all these type of individuals could create quite a library of media from the inside. It takes a lot of work, time, and money. Not to mention many outside resources. As a single person I can't imagine how much work must go into a project, but as a collective no obstacle is too large. Granted we know not everyone is going to be able to contribute, or would even have the desire to do so, but some of us are. If even some of the talented people out there could start doing projects together, and spread the cost and workload amongst them, we could accomplish two or three times as much in the same amount of time. We need more REAL documentaries, we need more REAL books, we need more REAL articles and essays published, more REAL conventions. There's a magazine for everything, why not Bigfoot research? If we put enough out there, it will start getting more recognition. If we're putting good quality, informative, true information out there, we will start to gain support from places we haven't had it in the past. Some of us have already taken on these tasks, and I truly commend you for doing such. I'm sure some of you have put yourselves out there financially, knowing you will not make very much profit if any. I know some of you are very good at what you do. If those of you out there doing this could imagine what it might be like to work with other like minded individuals, think of the things you could accomplish. Eventually with enough material out there, someone will have to take notice. Just think what one single documentary presenting the right material could do if it were to be picked up by the Discovery or Travel channel. Bigfootville was not a big budget feature. It only dealt with the state of Oklahoma. Over time however, it has become a major documentary due to the fact that everyone has seen it at least once. What if that was a documentary done by actual researchers, putting forth real evidence, and real information? What if the most recent Bigfoot book was one done by a collective of field researchers, putting forth the most updated knowledge and techniques from the field? That is how we shift the majority. That is how we guarantee what the loudest voice is that's being heard by the public. We can sit back and complain about things, or we can work on changing them. It's too large of a task for any one person working alone to accomplish.
By writing this I hope I have inspired some people positively, or at least got people to think about things. That was my goal. I'm not expecting people to join hands and sing, but maybe a few of us can join together in one common cause and get something accomplished. I'd also like to point out these are just my opinions and thoughts about the Bigfoot community as a whole. If you disagree with me, that's fine, I respect that. I just hope you respect my opinion as well. That's what it all boils down to in the long run. Too many of us have a lack of respect for others. If we had that respect we so desperately need, we'd probably be a lot closer to solving this mystery than we are.

Editorial: "Heironimus-Gate," 3 Years Later: Is It As Bad As We Think?

On March 1st, 2004, a shocking revelation was made by Greg Long, Kal Korff and Bob Kiviat on the Jeff Rense Show about the Patterson Movie-it was a hoax, and these individuals claimed to have proof, not to mention the fellow who allegedly wore the suit, Bob Heironimus. Last year, I wrote an editorial about this, located
  • Here
  • but I have changed a bit as far as my attitude towards the detractors of Heironimus and company and am trying to be a bit more objective about it, as evidenced in past editorials I have written on this blog and the ABSC blog (links found
  • Here
  • Here
  • and
  • Here
  • ). These links should give my readers plenty to chew over. Is Heironimus a liar? Is Bob Gimlin telling the truth? That's up to you to decide, whether you fall on the skeptical side or the pro side. Now, Mr. Korff is continuing to pursue criminal charges against Mr. Gimlin for consumer fraud, although I don't see how that can be enforced since Bob G. does not own any rights to the film, but we'll see. Korff is planning to do this around October 20th of this year, along with releasing the recreation of Mr. Heironimus walking in a Philip Morris-made Bigfoot suit. He is also writing a book with Heironimus which will ostensibly answer all the critics. Again, we will see. Korff wants Gimlin under oath and to confess his part in a hoax, and then he will drop all charges if this happens. However, a friend of mine who works in the legal profession says Korff does not have a case. Once again, we'll see. Regardless, we must continue our Sasquatch research whether the film is real or not. Let us solve the mystery one way or the other and leave the film behind and focus on the other pieces of evidence. So I would say that things are not as bad as some might think for Sasquatch research.

    Review: Squatch Detective Radio 2-26-07

This was a great show, with guest Scott "Squatch" Herriott, who discussed his sighting, as well as the Patterson Movie (which I would have preferred be left off the show, since there isn't much more that can be said about it that hasn't already been said!) and how he got into the Bigfoot business and his documentaries. It was a great show despite the technical issues and bringing up the old chestnut of the Patterson Movie, and I enjoyed it. The next show will feature ear-witness "John" and a discussion of vocalizations. Should be a good show. The show starts at 9:00 EST and can be found at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/thesquatchdetective As always, please tune in and support great research.

    Review: The Sasquatch Experience 2-25-07

This was a very fun and informative show, with "Ranger Tim" Cassidy, who was a great guest. He and I discussed the nature aspects of Sasquatch and its habitat and food possibilities, as well as Tim's travels and the groups he is involved with, along with Tim's encounter story and the evidence he has found in the field. A really great show, and a lot of fun. Thank you so much, Tim. Our next show will be Wednesday night at 9:30 P.M. EST, which hopefully Sean will join us for. Then, next Sunday, we will be starting at a special early time of 8:00 EST with hopefully South Mississippi researcher and documentarian Jay Michael for the first hour, and wildlife biologist Dr. John Bindernagel for the second hour. The show can be found at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/sasquatchexperience As always, please tune in and support great research.
