Finally, on Squatch Detective Radio...

Squatchdetective Radio Show Monday July 28th @ 9:00 pm EST

Come join Steve Kulls, Billy Willard and Becky Sawyer as we discuss the hot topics in the Bigfoot world with a special 2 hour show!

"Bigfoot on Ice"

A lot of controversy over the alleged find of a Bigfoot body has stormed the Bigfoot Community. Tonight we delve into the allegations and have some shocking new revelations about two guys from Georgia claiming to have a Bigfoot body in a freezer. As the Squatchdetective has been doing his homework.

Steve uses his twenty years as a forensic interviewer and investigator, plus his usual tenacity in putting together the case, which very well could be the biggest joke ever tried on the Bigfoot Community.

And as always this is an open invitation to the founders of Bigfoottracker. com, to pony up and act like men, and come on the show and answer our questions or come clean, and if they do as we've done with other guests in similar situations, we would treat them respectfully, but also take them to task.

Will the boys show up? Only they know the answer. But we're not banking on it. They talk a good game, let's see if they have actions to back up the words.

We'll also have a few surprise guests along the way with some direct knowledge of the boys activities.

Reviews: The Bigfoot Mystery/The Sasquatch Experience

The Bigfoot Mystery was a great show, with guests Pat Rance and Jim King, who shared about their research in Florida and Mississippi, respectively. They discussed about the research they have done in their respective states, as well as vocalizations they have heard and other things, including their theories on the Forest Giants. Bill Green called in, as did Thomas, and shared some of their experiences as well. Darin also announced his new book Bigfoot and I: A Personal Journey Into The World of Sasquatch will be available at Lulu.com sometime tonight. Next week, Pat and Jim will be back as repeat guests, beginning at 7:00 EST/6:00 Central at The Bigfoot Mystery, Sunday evenings at 7:00 EST/6:00 Central

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then, Mike Rugg was on the Sasquatch Experience, and was a great guest, discussing his research and also his beginnings of his sightings and other aspects of his research. He also discussed the upcoming Bigfoot Discovery Day II event he is holding August 9th. I called in and so did Bill Green, and asked various questions. Dunno what Sean and company have planned for next week, but it begins at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central at The Sasquatch Experience, Sunday Nights at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central

You can download past episodes of both shows, as well as subscribe via iTunes. And as always, we encourage you to please tune in and support great research.

HBM's Crypto-Corner Update...

The show might be a bit abbreviated today, because my co-host has some bad storms to deal with in his area, so the show will probably go only 30 minutes. But I still hope you can all tune in and support great research.

Monster vignettes are presented from the files of The History Channel with cryptozoologist, author and lecturer Loren Coleman, anthropologist David Gilmore, biologist Richard Ellis and folklorist Adrienne Mayor offering expert commentary on the legends of Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, mermaids and dragons. Video vignettes with short commercial intros. Meanwhile, Richelle Hawks in her "Medusa's Ladder" corner of BoA attempts to puzzle out what makes black dogs in the nation's animal shelters the least likely to be adopted, arriving at a conclusion that includes high strangeness in He'll Rip Your Lungs Out, Jim: Thoughts on Black Dog Syndrome.
Bigfoot: New Evidence The Independent
Is it possible two small hairs recovered from a site in the dense jungle of the Garo Hills of northeastern India could actually be from the legendary Yeti? Word from Oxford Brookes University in England is that the hairs do not match any known species. DNA testing and examination under even more powerful microscopes at two other British universities will soon get underway. Meanwhile, that claim from a couple of Georgia Bigfoot pursuers that they have a Bigfoot corpse on ice draws commentary from the county next door in Bigfoot in Clayton County -- Who Would Have Thunk It? Also in the Bigfoot news from a few days ago is the announcement that Erik Beckjord, 69, Has Died.

Stratton Thrush: A New Hybrid Bird?

bith-018.JPG The Vermont Center Of Ecostudies files a new report, which could have implications for other studies of hybrids in high-elevation bird populations. Images.

Two berry picking women spotted a tall, lanky, hairy humanoid and ran to tell others. Footprints were then found, large footprints with six toes. Casts were made of the prints. The incident took place Tuesday in Kenora, Ontario, Canada. With photo. At Cryptomundo, there's more on this report, including representative drawings, in New Ontario Sasquatch Track Find, and there's more on the July 2, 2000, Bigfoot encounter near the Oregon Caves in New Video: Matt Johnson's Bigfoot Encounter.

A recent sighting of Okanagan Lake's Ogopogo, a supposedly serpent-like monster, has led to the disclosure that five reported sightings of the creature have been made since April of this year. And there's more information in Ogopogo Sightings on the Rise. Is 2008 the year Ogopogo discloses itself? Meanwhile, in Vermont, a sighting of another kind led to a capture which led to a declaration of a Hybrid-bird Sighting (that) Ruffles Feathers.

The Search For Bigfoot: Prints of a Fellow? from Time Magazine's "Exploring the Unexplained"

"I'm sure that they exist," said Jane Goodall, one of the world's leading primatologists, about the giant ape known as "Bigfoot" in 2002. Surprised? Yes, Bigfoot, the oversized, shaggy-haired primate whose natural habitat long seemed to be the pages of supermarket tabloids and late-night TV schlockumentaries, is attracting something other than dismissive sneers from the academic community. Goodall is one of a growing chorus of respected scientists who say the matter is worth serious study. George Schaller, director of science at the Wildlife Conservation Society, and Conservation International primatologist Russell Mittermier (who has discovered five new species of primates in the past 10 years) are among numerous scientists who have called for more investigation into the existence of Bigfoot. Why? Zoologists point to the raft of species once believed mythical or extinct whose existence has been confirmed in modern times: the giant squid, mountain gorilla, giant panda, okapi, coelacanth and (we hope) ivory-billed woodpecker. The "living fossil" squirrel, once known only through remains, was found thriving in Laos in March 2006. Then there's the specific evidence. Almost every known group of Native American languages contains a word for a giant ape, while archaelogical digs in the U.S. West have uncovered rock carvings of a large primate-especially fascinating since science is unaware of any large monkeys being native to North America. How could so many different cultures, most of which had no contact with one another, have independently imagined a similar unusual critter? There are recorded sightings of Bigfoot going back to the 1820s, with more than 2,500 reports since 1900. And more recently, there have been some intriguing forensic clues. The best of them is the Skookum Cast, a plaster imprint of the impression left by a large animal in a muddy Mount St. Helens meadow in 2000. When amateur Bigfoot seekers who had baited the area with a pile of fruit returned, they found that whatever had taken their stash had a large forearm, a hairy thigh, protruding buttocks and what may be an Achilles tendon. Skeptics say that if the cast is a forgery, it was done by experts. Now for the bad news. Some of the most familiar evidence for the big fellow's existence is false. In 2003 the adult children of Ray Wallace, whose 1958 "discovery" of footprints apparently left by an enormous ape in Washington State made headlines, revealed that it had all been a prank hatched by their late father. In 2004, Bob Heironimus, a retired Pepsi bottler, claimed to have climbed into a giant gorilla costume to make the famed movie at left; others involved with this film still maintain that it is real. Skeptics also point to the "habeas corpus" test: no one has ever found the remains (contemporary or fossilized) of such a creature, even though fossils turn up regularly for mammoths, dinosaurs and other creatures that disappeared from North America eons ago. Even so, Schaller-who remains unconvinced but is also unwilling to write off Bigfoot's existence-says, "There have been so many sightings over the years. Even if you throw out 95% of them, there ought to be some explanation for the rest. The same goes for some of these tracks. I think a hard-eyed look is absolutely essential."

The Search For The Yeti: Abominable Snow Job? from Time Magazine's "Exploring the Unexplained"

When Alexander the Great invaded India in 326 B.C., he was intrigued by tales of a local ape that was taller than a man, had no tail and walked upright. Alexander commanded that one be brought before him but was told the animals lived only near the tops of remote mountains. Four centuries later, the Roman historian Pliny the Elder wrote of "creatures...with human-like bodies (that) can run on both four feet and two," that lived "in the mountains...east of India." The peoples of Asia have long believed in a beast more human than any other animal yet still wild. The creature has many names; he is the nyalmo in northern India, the chemo in Nepal, the yeti in Tibet, the yeren in China, the almas in Mongolia, the mawa in Malaysia. All the names, most of which incorporate words meaning man, wild, mountain or snow, describe a 7-to-10-ft.-tall primate, covered head to foot with shaggy hair, walking erect, living in remote regions (usually at high altitudea), shy of human contact but dangerous if cornered or provoked. The most common signs of the yeti are his large footprints, left in snow or mud, and his piercing call-unnerving, mournful shrieks, usually heard at night, that carry across great distances, even in blizzards. Natives say the yeti devours yaks and sheep, which are sometimes found torn to pieces. Stories of supposed yeti harm to humans are often attempts to account for the unexplained disappearance of herdsmen, sans evidence. For Western explorers, the search for the yeti offers a chance to make reputations, either through confirming the stories (by killing or capturing one of the creatures) or disproving them. Sir Edmund Hillary, the New Zealander who first conquered Mount Everest in 1953, returned to the Himalayas in 1960, resolved to demystify the monster. After a fruitless 10-month hunt, he concluded that it was all "a fascinating fairy tale, born of the rare and frightening view of strange animals, molded by superstition, and enthusiastically nurtured by western expeditions." In the 1980s, Johns Hopkins University researcher Daniel Taylor-Ide ascribed most sightings and other evidence to a large species to a large species of indigenous bear. In the year 2000, ace Alpine mountaineer Reihold Messner also pronounced, after a years-long inquiry, that the yeti was ursine, rather than simian. Amid the fray, locals remain calm. In 1961, when French scholars told Himalayan village elder Khunjo Chumbi they believed the yeti was a hoax, he replied, "In Nepal we have neither giraffes nor kangaroos, so we know nothing about them. In France, there are no yetis, so I sympathize with your ignorance."

Review: Beyond The Edge Radio 7-25-08

This was a terrific show, with Fortean author/investigator Nick Redfern, who discussed his research into such things as Bigfoot, Big Cats, UFOs, Aliens and other mystery animals, in England and the US. Several folks called in, such as myself, Steve Kulls and Bill Green, and we all asked various questions (Steve asked about the unidentified flying humanoids phenomenon, I asked about Big Cats and the Black Beast of Exmoor and Bill asked about Nick's book projects). There were several questions from the chat as well, which were answered pretty greatly. Next week, The Paranormal Party of the Summer continues with Demon Hunter John Zaffis, beginning at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central atBeyond The Edge Radio, Friday Nights at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central
