The Gray Ghost Weird Georgia
Entering the final week of stories in Jim Miles' October Weird Halloween marathon, Miles takes his readers back to the summer of 1955, a period with lots of strangeness occurring around Georgia. But none of the 1955 strangeness could out weird the appearance of a "height challenged" Bigfoot or two that began with a field hand's sighting of "a hairy little gray man" near the fence line of the Three Springs Ranch in Calhoun County. The worker observed the short creature for nearly a half-hour and reported the sighting to his boss who discovered small footprints along the fence. That sighting began a series of sightings of the same creature, or one very similar, around Calhoun County. Other sightings, tracks and hair trapped in a fence led the local law enforcement to take the claims seriously. Meanwhile, another manlike, hairy creature entered the picture in Terrell County where a worker from the Georgia State Forestry Commission tusseled with a larger creature that sported "tusk-like teeth and pointed ears." What were these creatures terrorizing rural Georgians in the summer of 1955? Elsewhere on the Bigfoot trail, adventurer, archaeologist and author David Hatcher Childress, often called "Indiana Jones" by his fans, stopped in Kathmandu, Nepal, to reveal the release of his new book Yetis, Sasquatch and Hairy Giants, an event publicized in 'Indiana Jones' Hits the Yeti Trail in Nepal and Book on Yeti Launched. Meanwhile, with the belief of many that Bigfoot, Yeti, Mande-Burung, Yeren and Almasty could be surviving examples of a creature believed to have been extinct since the Pleistocene Epoch, Loren Coleman, on the verge of the release of a new book, True Giants from Anomalist Books, reveals some images of the creature while asking When Will the Next Gigantopithecus Fossils Be Found? Also, the head of the soon to launch CFZ India Expedition in search of the Mande-Burung speaks up in Adam Davies on the Forthcoming Expedition.
