Nick Redfern is well-versed in the legends and lore of the chupacabras, the Latino monster first reported from Puerto Rico that many now assume has made its way to Texas and other areas of the United States. As a researcher, Redfern has been on the ground in Puerto Rico, speaking with credible witnesses who describe the Puerto Rican version of the chupacabras as an animal much different from what is being called a chupacabras in Texas. Since Redfern makes his home in Texas, he has been able to closely monitor the Texas chupacabras reports, too. Redfern states the Puerto Rican chupacabras is real and adds that the Texas creature, while not the same creature as the one from Puerto Rico, is also real. And the Texas creature may be almost as strange as the monster of Puerto Rico.
