Editorial: Is there Exploitation going on in this field?

The good majority of researchers of Sasquatch (and not just Sasquatch, but also other mysteries) seem to be very adept at their craft and seem to be quite honest, sincere and dedicated to their area of study. These are hardworking individuals who do not seek monetary gain or publicity, but very quietly ply their craft. However, there are those who are in it for the money and fame, and seem to exploit the field of Sasquatch or Cryptozoology. Recently, a bridge collapse in Minneapolis brought up bad memories of another famous bridge collapse from December 1967 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, which was connected to the Mothman and written about by John Keel in his book based on the weird events around that city. A certain well-known author wrote several articles on his blog paralelling the two events, and seemed to mean well but came off more exploitative then anything else, even if he did not mean to do so. There are individuals within the Cryptozoology and Sasquatch fields who seem to only want to get fame and fortune out of it and exploit it completely and not make worthwhile contributions to the fields. Some do exploit sometimes without meaning to, of course, but there are some who are just in it for the money and fame, and we should beware those people. However, the good majority of researchers are honest and credible, and we should support those fine folks.
