Sasquatch Experience Tomorrow...

Dunno if it will be live or a re-broadcast, but it begins at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central at The Sasquatch Experience And as always, we encourage you to please tune in and support great research.
After fifteen years of research, anthropologist Kathy Strain has published Giants, Cannibals & Monsters - Bigfoot in Native Culture with 150 incidents of Native American lore concerning the huge, hairy hominoid. Does Native American legend lend credence to Bigfoot's existence? Meanwhile, Bigfoot researcher Craig Woolheater of Cryptomundo has come to the rescue as 'Bigfoot' Returns to Kiski Store, and Woolheater will be among those attending as Bigfoot Fans Gather in Pennsylvania.

Review: Beyond The Edge Radio 9-26-08

This was a GREAT and fun show, love from Pitzer's Townhouse Restaurant in Jeanette, Pennsylvania, site of this weekend's East Coast Bigfoot Conference. Sean and Eric went around the room and interviewed several participants and speakers, including Bill Dranginis, Diane and Donna Stocking/Cohrs, Craig Woolheater, John Cartwright, Billy Willard, Bob Chance, Kelly Beverly and others. I called in, as well as Bill Green, and wished the participants and speakers a great conference tomorrow. Dunno what the folks have planned for next week, but it begins at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central at Beyond The Edge Radio And as always, we encourage you to please tune in and support great research.
Anatomy and Dermatoglyphics of Three Sasquatch Footprints
by Grover S. Krantz
Casts of three large human-like footprints were made by U.S. Forest Service personnel in June, 1982, in southeastern Washington State. The fine-grained soil preserved many impressions of dermal ridges and sweat pores.

  • Anatomy of the Sasquatch Foot
    by Grover S. Krantz
Many plaster casts and photographs of footprints have been examined in detail which were reportedly made by a species of bipedal primate, the sasquatch or bigfoot. They prove not to be simply enlarged human footprints but show several peculiarities. These include flat arches, a double ball, and enlarged heels. Examination of leverage mechanics of the human foot indicates that with excessive body weight certain modifications would be advantageous. The expected modifications are the same as those seen in the reputed sasquatch footprints.
  • Cripplefoot Hobbled
    by David J. Daegling
Evidence for Bigfoot gains credibility when the possibility of human fabrication can be ruled out. The trackways of a crippled Sasquatch are said to provide such a compelling case, but examination of this claim suggests that hoaxing the footprints may have been a fairly manageable endeavor.
A Species Named From Footprints
by Grover S. Krantz
A reconstruction is presented of the living appearance of the fossil species Gigantopithecus blacki; this is then compared with evidence for a reported wild animal in North America. These two forms are provisionally equated, thus giving a formal name to the living animal known as sasquatch, or bigfoot. Alternative taxonomic designations are also suggested in view of the possibility that future discoveries might show this equation to be incorrect.

A Sasquatch Field Project in Northern California: Report of the 1997 Six Rivers National Forest Expedition
by J. Richard Greenwell, D. Jeffrey Meldrum, Mark T. Slack, Darwin A, Greenwell
The fieldwork being reported here is the first of what may be a series of such efforts over a number of years. We conducted the fieldwork over a three-week period in August of 1997. Specifically, our purpose was to attempt to apply and utilize, for the first time, scientific methodology and specialized equipment in a remote field setting with the aim of obtaining evidence for this supposed large bipedal primate.

Review: Sasquatch Triangle 9-25-08

This was a terrific show, with guest John Horrigan, who told some great stories (which he is very good at) and also promoting the upcoming Mass Monster Mash and Mass UFO Show which is upcoming the weekend of October 17th-18th, with several interesting speakers, including Don Keating, Nick Redfern and Budd Hopkins, and also a tribute to late Cryptozoologist Scott Norman, moderated by Loren Coleman. He also discussed a good bit about the Bridgewater Triangle and the strange phenomenon found within that area. I called in, as well as Bill Green, and asked some interesting questions to John. John was the one who brought up the Georgia hoax situation on the show for once, not Bill. LOL Next week, Don's guest is Billy Willard, beginning at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central at The Sasquatch Triangle, Now On NowLive.com And as always, we encourage you to please tune in and support great research.

Review: Monsterquest 9-24-08

This episode went into attacks by giant bears, supposedly extinct for many millions of years, known as the short-faced bear. Dr. Blaine Schubert, one of the main experts on these ursus species, is interviewed on his expertise on the giant bears. Alaska is one of the main centers of study and research on these bears. Matt Bille, Cryptozoology author, is also interviewed, as is Jim Oltersdorf, a wildlife photographer who is open to the possibility of the giant bears. A Wildlife Biologist, Jim Hechtel, is skeptical of the existence of these giant ursine creatures. There was a giant bear known as MacFarlane's Bear shot in 1864 and thought to be a giant. This skin and skull is in the Smithsonian now, and was examined in 1918 by a scientist and thought to be quite unusual. In 2001, a hunter and his companion noticed a large bear track and a large bear near Anchorage, Alaska. The hunter shot and killed the massive bear, with a 12-inch wide paw and stood 11 feet tall and weighed well over 1,000 pounds. Dr. Schubert is being allowed to examine the remains of MacFarlane's Bear. They are also travelling to New Jersey to investigate a videotape of black bears invading people's yards. An expedition into the wilds of Alaska is also undertaken. The town of Lake Wanda, New Jersey, is being terrorized by bears invading. Oltersdorf is leading the Alaskan expedition across Skillak Lake. The two expeditions do find some interesting things, but not really enough to...well, I will let you figure it out for yourself.
A mysterious light in the sky above Muckaty Station in Australia's Northern Territory shocked some backpackers who report the object returned, flying in the opposite direction, the next night. What's generating visions of unidentified aerial phenomena in Australia? Elsewhere, Billy Cox exhorts The Los Angeles Times to Make One Lousy Phone Call, and Kevin Poulsen at Wired makes short work of UK computer hacker Gary McKinnon's father's claim in the Guardian that U.S. Passed a New Law Just to Nail Gary McKinnon. Also, Micah Hanks, at The Gralien Report, believes the advent and popularity of the internet have led to the decrease in impact of UFO reports in UFOs: Earth's Future, Man's Burden, or Simply a Dead Issue?
Nick Redfern, author of There's Something in the Woods and a well-traveled "monster hunter" in his own right, tries to explain how one goes about becoming a cryptid hunter. Elsewhere, another author receives some well deserved recognition as Bigfoot! Honored During Banned Book Week, and another author is noted in the report Bushman Author on Bus During Attack.

Monsterquest Tonight...

GIANT BEAR ATTACK

In pre-historic times, giant bears weighed up to a ton and stalked early man. History says that these animals died out 10,000 years ago, but could hybridization or the next step in bear evolution produce more giant bears? MonsterQuest investigates witnesses of horrific bear attacks, looks at strange bear remains and mounts two expeditions: the first to the heart of bear territory, Alaska, and the second closer to home in New Jersey where big bears are getting more assertive and aggressive. Will science solve the mystery of this new breed of bears?

Review: Bigfoot Quest 9-23-08

This was a pretty terrific show, with guest Eric Altman, who gave a sneak preview of this weekend's East Coast Bigfoot Conference, as well as delving into his research. Don Keating called into the show to discuss some things with Eric and wish him luck, and to also kind of plug the upcoming Sasquatch Triangle show this Thursday. I called in and discussed the recent Monsterquest episodes as well as to wish Eric luck, and also to discuss some things with Eric, such as the great time we had in Ohio, and also Jeff Meldrum giving a sneak peek at the MQ episode when he was in Ohio this past Spring. Druid from the chatroom also called in, but was hardly discernable due to a bad connection. Dunno what Bob and Mike have planned for next week, but it begins at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central at Bigfoot Quest And as always, we encourage you to please tune in and support great research.

They're mostly teen-aged girls who are flocking to the small timber-town of Forks, WA, the town featured in Stephanie Meyer's immensely popular Twilight book series that tells of the dilemma a young girl faces when her family moves to the town and she becomes torn between the affections of two youngsters, one a vampire, the other a werewolf. The economically depressed town, a place Meyer has never visited is enjoying a tourism boom. Since most of the town's "Twilight" tourists are teen-aged girls, should teen-aged boys be afraid, very afraid? With trailer from the upcoming motion picture. Review: The Bigfoot Mystery 9-21-08

This was a terrific show, with guest Eric Altman, who discussed the upcoming East Coast Bigfoot Conference, coming next weekend, as well as his research into the Pennsylvania Sasquatch. He described some of his encounters, as well as his eventual chairmanship of the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society. Richie from California called in and told us of some exciting developments in the Santa Cruz Mountains last weekend, where he, Daniel Perez, Michael Rugg and a fellow named Ralph heard and recorded a strange vocalization 30 seconds in duration. We discussed the possibility of the Sasquatch creatures being attracted to power lines, possibly because of the hum, and also the possibility of them using railroad tracks as travel routes. Randy from Canada commented in the chat that he had found tracks near power lines that went on for miles. We discussed a good bit about the possibilities of the routes these Sasquatch will take in their travels, as well. The next show will be on Sunday, October 5th, where we hope to have Indiana naturalist/Sasquatch enthusiast Larry Battson, beginning at 7:00 EST/6:00 Central at The Bigfoot Mystery And as always, we encourage you to please tune in and support great research.

Review: Monsterquest 9-21-08

This was a terrific episode, about an investigation into the Chinese Yeren, the equivalent of our Sasquatch or Bigfoot. Dr. Frank Poirier, a retired anthropologist from Ohio State University, is interviewed regarding some research he has done into the Chinese Wildman. Dr. Poirier admits he threw away a hair of of Wildman, and is skeptical of the existence of the Yeren. Dr. Jeff Meldrum is also profiled and interviewed on his trip to the Hubei Province in China, and is researching whether or not Gigantopithecus could be the explanation for the Yeren. Dr. Zhou Guoxing says the size of the Wildman compares to the size of Giganto, and he has done a good bit of research into it. A sighting in 1976 in Shennongjia prompted the Chinese government to look into it, and Dr. Guoxing led the expedition himself a year later. Dr. Guoxing goes into the different colors the Yeren is observed to have, including red, brown and yellow, even black. Adam Davies is also brought in to track the Yeren. This was the first time an American anthropologist has been allowed to examine the evidence for the Yeren, which is the opportunity given to Dr. Meldrum. The trio (Davies, Meldrum and Guoxing) are headed to the Shennongjia area (see my earlier posting of the presentation Dr. Meldrum gave at the 20th-Annual Ohio Bigfoot Conference for further details). Several witnesses are interviewed on their sightings (one witness saw two of them crossing a road). The location of one of the sightings is near the Lisha River, where a sighting took place last November. Davies and a guide, Zhu Xiaoguang, are investigating the area. Davies shows the Yeren cast to Meldrum, which Meldrum is intrigued by, but is cautious about it. Meldrum and Davies run into a problem-the government will not allow them to go into the park for the expedition. The team is granted only 36 hours to do their investigation, and are led by Xiaoguang and another guide, a park ranger, who had a sighting in 1994. Meldrum and the crew make camp in an area at 9,500 feet, and do a bit of scouting before sunset. The next new episode airs Wednesday night at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central on History, focusing on Giant Bear Attacks. Check local listings for time and channel.
