E-Book Review: Sasquatch, Bigfoot, Wildmen, Yeti and Other Big News Prints

I received this item in an auction at the 20th-Annual Ohio Bigfoot Conference, and I did not regret it for a minute. Compiled by Scott McClean, it is a terrific gathering of newspaper clippings extending back at least 100 years in the United States, with many pre-1958 reports of "Wildmen," "Gorillas," "HooDoos," "Haints" and other various names for Sasquatch-Like Creatures sighted over the years. All the clippings are arranged by State name, and there is with this CD a bonus 315 additional reports, along with an audio clip of a man named Buddy Knox who wrote and recorded a song about Bigfoot (the song is also included as a bonus), in addition to other clips, mostly about the Patterson/Gimlin Movie. I highly recommend this for everyone's Cryptozoological collection just for the sheer number of reports gathered and for the excellent work McClean did in gathering them.

Review: Beyond The Edge Radio 6-6-08

This was a GREAT show, with guest Linda Godfrey, who discussed the Dogman/Man Wolf phenomenon, which is not just limited to her research area in rural Wisconsin, but spreads quite a bit all over the U.S. Several folks asked great questions in the chat during the first hour of the show regarding this phenomenon, then the second hour was opened to phone calls, and Brian Seech, Bill Green, Thomas Hughes, Luke Gross and myself called in and asked various questions about the phenomenon (my main question was whether Linda had heard of reports from Iowa, when I mentioned about a good friend of ours named Connie has had not only Sasquatch reports near her, but also Dogman sightings.). Next week, Greg and Kathy Feketik will be the guests, and the topic will be ghost-hunting, as Beyond The Edge Radio continues the "Paranormal Party of the Summer." Footprints in the Sand Blogsquatcher

Recent reports that human footprints in Mexico have been dated to 40,000 years ago elicits a response from the Blogsquatcher indicating Sasquatch/Bigfoot investigators have better footprint evidence of the hairy hominoid's existence than the photos of the Mexico footprints show. Editorial: Are there Cougars in the Eastern U.S.?

Cougars, mountain lions, pumas. No matter what they are called, they are allegedly, in the United States, only in the Western part of the continent. Wildlife officials claim that they were driven from the Eastern U.S. or perhaps hunted to extinction and have been supposedly extinct from the East for 60 years or more. However, in certain Eastern states, there is a comeback of sorts for these mysterious cats, with sightings taking place in several Eastern states, including Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and several other states. Of course, wildlife officials have an "official" stance on cougars in that they are not "supposed" to exist in the East, but unofficially, I am sure they know more than they are telling. Having been to East Tennessee, I can say that that area is conducive to mountain lion habitat, even if people do not see them (although there have been sightings here and there over the past few years in the Great Smoky Mountains). On Monsterquest the other night, there was a cellphone photo taken of a cougar sighted in North Carolina, where they are not "supposed" to exist. It is just like the panther situation in Mississippi-they are "officially" extinct in the Magnolia State, but yet there are still sightings on occasion of these large cats. So, are there cougars in the East? You decide.

Review: Monsterquest 6-4-08

This was a rather interesting program, about something called a Vampire Beast which seemed to be almost a doglike creature, but was quite ugly. It all began in 1954 with a series of attacks in Bladenboro, North Carolina in which dogs and goats were all killed but not eaten, their bodies drained of blood. Several wildlife experts are interviewed, some which have a more open mind about the possibility of this creature than others. One biologist thought the attacks were the result of a coyote, but they did not seem to be that. Several residents of Bladenboro and Bolivia, both towns which are close to each other, are interviewed about what they have seen and found in their area. A footprint is photographed and appears to belong to a cougar. A photo is taken by a cell phone camera of what appears to be a cougar, which might be the explanation for all the attacks, although that seems strange in light of the fact that none of the victims were eaten. Next week, Monsterquest examines Ghosts (which is a strange topic in light of the fact that the show is called MONSTER Quest, but we will see where they go with it) beginning at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central on History. Book Review: Bigfoot Research: The Russian Vision

Author: Dmitri Bayanov

This book is an absolutely EXCELLENT assessment of not only hominology in Russia, but also worldwide. Dmitri goes into the various names for Russian Wildmen, such as Leshiy, which translates to Wood Goblin. He discusses the history behind these and the history of Hominology studies and how he and his colleagues have been pioneering those studies for at least 60 years. He also writes an excellent section on the Patterson/Gimlin Movie where he addresses many of those who have claimed to be the man in the suit and their backers, as well as addressing the skeptics of the film. Dmitri also discusses the Yowie in a lengthy chapter, and for the first time since 2001 publishes his short booklet Bigfoot: To Kill Or To Film: The Problem Of Proof in its entirety, with a bit of bonus material, in this book. He also discusses quite a bit about the language capabilities of hominids, juxtaposing it with information received from Janice Carter about this very thing. He then talks of Janice and the events occurring on her farm. He rounds out the book with an interview conducted with him by Cryptozoologist Craig Heinselman, and also some humor and a great wrap-up chapter. This book is absolutely terrific and highly-recommended for anyone's Cryptozoological bookshelf. 5 out o5 5 stars!!!!!!
