Latest Update on John Johnsen's project with M.K. Davis

July 24, 2007

The researchers preview copy is complete. This consists of an abreviated version of the final DVD that includes most

of the evidence, the validation of Davis's methods and a section on computer enhancement.

This is being made available to several reserachers in an effort to get their opinions of the evidence before the

general public sees it, and also give them an opportunity to weigh in with an interview either pro or con to be

included in the final commercial version. I am traveling out of town to hand deliver one this weekend and do the

interview with that researcher. I hope many more will participate. This is truly a remarkable finding, and some of the

evidence, in my opinion, shows that Davis's theory can be nothing but true.

Stay Tuned for SURE!

John Johnsen

Editorial: Are some researchers too emotionally invested in certain pieces of Bigfoot evidence?

Most individuals within this field of inquiry are generally respectful and knowledgeable and do not get upset if a certain piece of evidence is challenged. However, there are some who get emotionally bent out of shape if a skeptical individual challenges them on what they consider to be evidence. A shining example of this is from last night's XZone Radio Show in which Michael Rugg of the Bigfoot Discovery Project and Museum was Rob McConnell's guest. They were having a pleasant enough conversation about Mike's museum and his collection of items in said museum and also of his own personal sighting in 1950. However, when talk turned to the subject of the Patterson/Gimlin Movie, things got ugly. Rugg proceeded to launch into a tirade of why he thinks the P/G Movie is real and why he thinks Bob Heironimus is a liar. Rob told Rugg several times he did not buy the Film, and a respectful guest would have let it go at that. Unfortunately, Rugg kept at it and basically disrespected Rob and Heironimus and essentially embarrassed himself and the rest of us Bigfooters. Rugg was told several times by Rob that the film in his opinion was a hoax, but Rugg would not listen. Finally, Rob cut him off and kicked him off the show. In my personal opinion, Mike should have just told Rob he disagreed with him, but respects his opinion and moved on. But that is not how it turned out, and it seems that Rugg was getting emotionally invested in the P/G Movie, which is a mistake, because even if that film were to turn out to be a hoax, it does not disqualify the subject of Sasquatch from being real (and Rob pointed that out several times). The point is, some researchers get emotionally invested in certain bits of evidence and fly off the handle when skeptical individuals challenge them on it. This should never be our attitude as Bigfooters, because it makes us look bad when a radio host such as Rob challenges us on what we deem credible and we get upset and fly off the handle and start basically taking over the show just to make our point. We should not get emotionally invested in any piece of evidence, because it could prove later to be a hoax or misidentification. We must maintain our objectivity in the face of skepticism and not lose our cool. If we do this, then we can be more readily accepted in the eyes of our peers and skeptics alike.

Review: The XZone 7-26-07

Rob's third-hour guest was Mike Rugg of the Bigfoot Discovery Project and Museum, who mostly discussed the Patterson/Gimlin Movie (and was a bit rude to Rob as well). He basically was disrespectful to Rob and to Bob Heironimus and Greg Long, and was cut off about 10 minutes before the show ended. He was trying to put out the different inconsistencies of Heironimus, and Rob was not buying it, and Rugg persisted. He was therefore kicked off the show, leaving Rob to basically explain why he cut the man off. The fourth and final hour was with Kal Korff, who discussed Secret Wars and touched briefly on Bigfoot, but did not dwell on it too long. Rob is always the gentleman host, but he will not put up with rudeness or people hogging the mic. He also gave great praise to individuals such as Sean Forker, Robert W. Morgan, Robert Purser, Todd Standing and myself. Thank you, Rob.

Review: Sasquatch Triangle 7-26-07

This was a great show, with John Horrigan of Needham, Massachusetts, who told some terrific stories of sightings he had in his files which intrigued him. He answered questions from different e-mailers as well. A very enjoyable show, and Don is a real natural. Review: Let's Talk Bigfoot 7-25-07

This was a great show, with Bigfoot Historian Scott McClean, who described his 1984 sighting in North Carolina of what he described as a "Jawa" (a short Sasquatch-like creature), his book and CD Big News Prints, his research into the historical reports, using the Library of Congress website and also the Newspaper Archive Website and other subjects. He took questions from the chatroom of Let's Talk Bigfoot as well as taking a call from "Singin'" Tom Yamarone (who I gave a compliment to, and he mentioned I was a supporter of his!!!) It was a truly wonderful show, full of great information. Teresa Hall and Kathy Strain put on a great interview (get better soon, Melissa!!!!!!!!!!!!!) The next show will feature Sam Rich of GeorgiaBigfoot.com (BitterMonk from Bigfoot Forums), next Wednesday at 10:00 EST/9:00 Central at http://www.letstalkbigfoot.com Please tune in and support great research.

Book Review: Elementum Bestia

Editor: Craig Heinselman

This book (which is about the size of an old school workbook) is really well-written by all the contributors, not just on Bigfoot (Diane Stocking, Don Keating, Scott Marlowe and Ray Crowe) but on other subjects, like big cats (Loren Coleman), the Australian Junjundee (Tony Healy and Paul Cropper), The Hobbits (Gary Mangiancopra and Dwight Smith) and various other crypto-creatures. The book covers all kinds of different subjects in the world of Cryptozoology, and even includes some Crypto-fiction by authors such as D.L. Tanner, Lee Murphy, Gerry Bacon and Blake Templeton. It is a terrific book, and should be added to everyone's Cryptozoological bookshelf. I would give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Editorial: Sasquatch or Bigfoot: Which Do You Prefer?

Shakespeare once wrote, "What's In A Name?" Well, when it comes to large hairy bipeds in the United States, two names are most prominent-Sasquatch, an old Salish Indian word coined by writer J.W. Burns in the late-1920's which means "Wild Man Of The Woods," and Bigfoot, a word coined by a group of road-construction workers in 1958 when a series of large, humanlike tracks were found in the Bluff Creek Valley of northwestern California. In some regions, the creatures have been called "Boogers," "Wildman," "Hoodoos," "Haints" and even "Gorillas." But the two more prominent names are definitely the subject of this editorial. Now, the term Sasquatch is preferred by many researchers, including the late Dr. Grover Krantz, because it sounds more scientific, whereas Bigfoot is more of a description of a part of the creature's anatomy then describing the creature as a whole. Sometimes the two terms are interchangeable and used equally by some researchers. I myself prefer Sasquatch, but I have been known to use Bigfoot as well from time to time, and I have no problem interchanging between the two. My question to my readers is, which do YOU prefer? Make your comments here, or send me your thoughts at giantape20042000@yahoo.com and I will tally up the results here on the blog.

Review: Squatch Detective Radio 7-23-07

This was a wonderful show, with Florida researcher Diane Stocking, who got calls from myself, Ron Schaffner and Don Keating. She discussed such things as the BFRO, the Skookum Cast, her investigations in South Florida and other subjects, and really went forward with her opinions. It was a great show, and Diane is always unafraid to express herself. Steve and Billy's next guest will be filmmaker/documentarian Pat Holdbrook, next Monday at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/TheSquatchDetective As always, please tune in and support great research.

Review: The Sasquatch Experience 7-22-07

Our scheduled guest was Peter Byrne, but we had trouble getting through to him, so we are going to reschedule that show. In the meantime, we had a bit of an open-mic type show in which people asked us questions from our new Sasquatch Experience Chatroom, as well as a bit of a debate. We discussed some of the more current happenings in the Sasquatch field, as well as some speculations of certain aspects of the mystery. Thunderhawk called us and gave us his two cents on certain things. He will be our guest next week, at 9:00 EST/8:00 Central, so we ask you all to please tune in and support great research.
